[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of March 2024

Welcome back for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. Once again, I am hoping to draft up and post some new reviews – this time, for the Easter long weekend. And hopefully have more than one ready to go. So, I am going to make this a short introduction to get right to the charts and for me to move onto the next review for you! So without further ado, here are the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of March 2024.

Throwback Song of the Week

Each week I pick a song from the past to feature in this segment. It is recognition for the fact I listen to more than just the currently charting songs. And revisiting these songs are truly a blast from the past. Plus, I am hoping that this segment introduces new listeners to some great songs that I have enjoyed from my many years of listening to KPOP. The throwback song for this past week is JUNG HYOSUNG’s Good Night Kiss from 2014.

Welcome back for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. I am hoping to draft up and post some new reviews over the long weekend where I live after it has been another less than busy week on the blog. So, I am going to make this a short introduction to get right to the charts and for me to move onto the next review for you! As my focus on this blog is primarily on KPOP songs, I draw attention to a particular song that isn’t in the Korean language in this part of the Weekly KPOP Chart post. That song is the top ranking non-Korean song on each Weekly KPOP Chart post. The past week’s non-Korean song of the week is NCT WISH’s WISH.

The Korean version of WISH is part of the Weekly KPOP Charts, but as the song has a corresponding Japanese version released at the same exact same time, I will be considering that in this segment (and for as long as the Korean version is part of the Weekly KPOP Charts).

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of February 2024

Welcome back for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. Apologies for a week of no reviews of any kind. I have been working hard to finalise and publish the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards as mentioned in last week’s post. I was successful in getting that out, but that ended up taking a lot of my energy. Plus, I was thrown off after posting it by my failing and dying phone (which I had to get replaced). Anyhow, as it is still early in the day where I am, I am hoping to post at least one review alongside this post – the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of February 2024.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of February 2024

Welcome back for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. Apologies for the delay in posting this one. I have been working hard on the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards to post it at the end of the month, as previously planned. More on that below! And so is the rest of the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd Week of February 2024.

UPDATE – 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards – Winners Announcement

Last week, I mentioned I may be pushing the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Award into March. But good news, I am on track to deliver it on 29 February 2024 – this coming Thursday, my local time.

This does explain why I have not been posting since Saturday’s album review – I have been working on it intensively over Sunday through to today to get the bulk of the post ready. Tomorrow will be final touches before it goes live on Thursday. I don’t have an official time as to when it will be posted, so keep your eyes peeled for Thursday.

I am hoping to get a review into tomorrow, should time permit me to. But the focus will be making sure the winners announcement post will be ready in time.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st & 2nd Weeks of February 2024

Welcome back for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. It has a little while since the last one, which was posted before I went on an extended break for a holiday. But I am now back and ready to return to continue the segment!

If you remember back to the last one I posted (2nd Week of January 2024), I announced that the Weekly KPOP Charts for the remainder of January 2024 were to be cancelled and that I will bring back the segment from the 1st Week of February 2024. Unfortunately, that didn’t pan out as I hoped, so I have merged the 1st and 2nd Weeks of February 2024 together. But from here on out (until my next extended break, whenever that may be), the normal weekly transmission will occur.

Things will look a different as a result of the cancellation and merger, which I will explain down below. Let’s go!

UPDATE – 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards

If you remember a while back, I was hoping to post the winners of the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards that YOU voted for by the end of this month. While I did work on it somewhat during my break, I don’t think I will hit that deadline, and may need an extra week or so. I will confirm next week how much more time I need. Apologies for the delay and I am endeavouring to get it done as soon as possible, soI can move onto even more exciting stuff for 2024.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of January 2024

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Charts for the second week of January 2024. As mentioned last week, I will be offline from mid-January to mid-February once again, and have for the last week been preparing scheduled posts to be published whilst I am away. So I will be making this post a short one so I can continue doing that. In terms of plans for the blog over the coming weeks:

  • I will be posting my final review for new releases this Wednesday (17 January 2024). This should give me time to cover NMIXX, YENA and SISTAR19’s new releases before I go on my break.
  • From 18 January 2024 to 11 February 2024, I will be releasing scheduled posts. I am aiming for one a day, but that depends on the number that I can draft before I go on my break.
  • I will resume normal posting on the blog on 12 February 2024.
  • Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd, 4th and 5th Weeks of January 2024 have been cancelled. I will resume tracking for a Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 1st Week of February (4 – 10 Feb), which will be posted once I am back.
  • The results for the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Charts will be delivered at the end of February (date to be confirmed).

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of December 2023

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Charts, this time for the 2nd Week of December 2023. There is a bit to update you on down below, as this will be one of the final posts of the year from me that I will be writing and posting in ‘real-time’. I will be taking a break from the blog to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. As such, I have developed a little plan for the remainder of 2023. I will be back online from 2 January 2024 (totally wrote 2023 out of habit).

So, as this will be the final ‘personal’ post of the year – I do wish you all a Happy Holiday season. If you celebrate Christmas – Merry Christmas and/or break. If you don’t, I wish you a splendid few days with whatever you will be getting up to. And collectively, I wish you all a happy and joyous new year.

Plan for the rest of 2023

Rest assured, the blog will continue to be active whilst I am on break. Song and album reviews will continue to be posted on the blog over the holiday break – I have been trying to draft up a few to schedule ahead of time.

The final review ‘new release’ review of the year will be WOODZ’s AMNESIA (due for release tomorrow). I will see if I have time to review it tomorrow, otherwise the review will be posted Tuesday (at the very latest). Scheduled reviews will begin the day after AMNESIA‘s review, though I have already been tapping into that stockpile during the last week.

Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd and 4th Weeks of December will be combined and posted upon my return on 2 January 2023, and you can expect song reviews (beginning with the new releases that I missed while on break) from 3 January 2023.

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Charts, this time for the 2nd Week of November 2023. Thanks again for the patience this week after I recovered from preparing for the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards (more on that below). But as you can see from yesterday, I am back to reviewing songs. And I am hoping to have restarted on album reviews from next weekend! But until then, more reviews are coming your way as my backlog gets bigger and bigger. But firstly, the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 2nd Week of November 2023.

ICYMI – 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards

So in the case you have not been tuning into the blog the last two weeks, I have launched the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards with the ‘Coming Soon’ post posted on 1 November 2023. This was followed by the nominations across 36 categories in the Nominations Post on 5 November 2023, and finally the KPOPREVIEWED’s Choice (which is essentially my choice of winner under each category) post on 10 November 2023.

All is left is the launch of the annual fan voting period, which will be posted mid this week on the 15 November. During this period, you will be voting on who will be the official winners of each category, which I will be announcing the result of at the end of February 2024. So keep tuning in for the chance to vote!

Throwback Song of the Week

While digging through the last year of releases for the 2023 KPOPREVIEWED Awards. I rediscovered BoA’s Forgive Me, which I had originally gone to nominate for an award, but the other competitors in said category nudged BoA’s Forgive Me out. And due to the amount of listens I gave Forgive Me, it was natural for me to include it as this week’s Throwback Song (even if it was released a year ago!).

Non-Korean song of the week

Jung Kook’s collaboration with Jack Harlow, 3D, is this week’s top Non-Korean song of the week. It ranks in the 4th position this week.
