Welcome to the first week of May. Time is going very quickly. University is getting a little hectic as it is approaching the final weeks of the semester. Many assignments and exam preparation need to be done but like any other good student, I haven’t started. Hahahaha… But nonetheless, I am still writing reviews. I will keep with the ‘at least 1 review’ per day rule, but some weeks the writing and publishing of them might be all over the place.

Once again, for the third week in a row, Laboum’s Hwi Hwi has kept their grips on the first place position. Joining them on the top end of the charts is Triple H and their new song, 365 Fresh, while Monsta X’s Beautiful rejoins the top end at 3rd position. Rounding out the top 5 is Varsity with Hole in One and SECHSKIES’ Be Well.

Next week is going to be another quiet week. Not much is being released this week from what I can see. Han Dong Geun, VAV, Onew & Rocoberry’s releases from last week will be joining the charts next week. Along with them will be DAY6 and Psy.

Welcome to the final week of April 2017. Once again, I hope you all have had a great week. Just a heads up but I am currently bracing for the final weeks of the semester, so the release of the reviews for the month of May maybe a little awkward. From what I hear, the first 2 weeks of May is going to be a little empty due to the elections in South Korea, so that will provide me with the chance to catch up.

Laboum maintains their throne at the top of the charts for the second week in a row. Monsta X and SF9 rise into the top of the charts of this week, in fourth and fifth position respectively. As for second place, K.A.R.D’s latest single, Rumour takes over this position, while third place goes to IU with her collaboration with G-Dragon, Palette. All of the top 5 songs from last (aside from Laboum’s Hwi Hwi) saw a drop in the charts. Some drops were quite drastic, so scroll down and see where they are!

As mentioned before, a few news outlets have mentioned that due to the South Korean Presidential Elections, companies will be avoiding this week (and possibly the following week) and few artists will be returning. The weekly music shows have been confirmed to not be airing next week. However, that being said, there will some artists releasing some new content including Triple H, Lovelyz, VAV and Junhyung from HIGHLIGHT. In addition to them, but BoA’s, VARSITY and Secheskies’ releases from the previous week will be included in next week’s charts.

April is almost up. And Easter has already gone past us. Damn, this year is going too quickly. I hope you all have been well. I was sick during the week (hence my absence for two days) but I am all better now. Just a sniffle here and there. There are some songs that I missed out due to my absence, but I will get them out this week. I have two extra day offs this week, so I will hopefully write and post them then.

This week’s top 5 is all dominated by girl groups. Girl’s Day and EXID are the only two groups that remained in the top 5 from last week. Girl’s Day takes the second position on the chart, while EXID remained constant at no. 3. Dream Catcher rose from 7th to 3rd this week. The number one spot went to Laboum, with their newest track Hwi Hwi. Berry Good took 5th place with their song, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.

My prediction for next week will be the rise of IU’s two early releases and Palette, her title track off her fourth album. DIA and Lee Hae Ri’s title tracks were meant to be new debuts this week, but due to me completely missing the tracks, they will start their 9 weeks off this week instead. Joining all of them also are Jonghyun, Snuper, K.A.R.D, Changsub and Momoland.

Happy Easter All!!! As you can tell, I went a little overboard with the featured image. But then again, you can never have too many easter eggs!! Currently on my week off, but still busy as ever. You are given a ‘week off’ but in reality, you are just catching up on work that you have yet to start or complete.

Girl’s Day returned to the top of the charts this week, with I’ll Be Yours. Monsta X dropped down one position to second place, with their ‘Beautiful‘ song.  EXID and their song “Night Rather Than Day‘ makes their debut at 3rd position. Rounding out the top 5, Winner with their song, Really Really, which was “Really Really” good and GOT7’s Never Ever.  For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Baekhyun released his SM Station song on Friday and I should get around reviewing it today (if I have time) or by tomorrow. The song will be included in next week’s chart. Joining Baekhyun are Berry Good, Zico (I know I mentioned him last week, but I have been busy), Minzy, Wassup, Hyorin & Changmo, Laboum, Yesung, SF9, Jessica Jung, DIA, Lee Hae Ri and (possibly) JungGiGo. April is here (the year is going too quick). My week has been a little stressful, but I am still publishing reviews as always. I have completed a bulk of my assignments in the past week and submitted them the day before the due date. Adding on top the number of reviews I have written in the past week, I think I had a productive week. I hope you all had a productive week as well. Just watch me start to procrastinate now. I have three more days until standing between me and a week off (yeah, it is a little odd).

Taking out the number spot this week is Beautiful by Monsta X. Girl’s Day (last week’s number 1) dropped down one spot to second place. GOT7’s Never Ever remains steady at number 3. Closing out the top five are new debuts on the charts. Namely, Coloring Book by Oh My Girl and Make Me Love You by Taeyeon. Every other debut on this week charts (there are 7 in total) made a strong appearance on this week’s chart!

Teen Top has already unveiled their new song, but I am including them in the charts next week, according to their official release date (10th of April). EXID will also be returning (without Solji this time) but as always, you can expect them to do extremely well. IU & Oh Hyuk’s collaboration and Ten’s SM Station song were released on Friday, but I decided to have them debut on the charts next week instead. Other comebacks next week include Eunji (APINK), Wa$$up, Unit Black (BOYS24) and Zico (Block B).

Welcome to the 5th week of March. It’s kind of odd, but normally we say there are 4 weeks in a month. But I did the counting, and it works out to be 5 weeks. I had a big test this week and am still recovering from it. I did okay (I think) and need to focus on these other assignments. So that means it’s a great time to start on the next 5 reviews and also write up this week’s chart!

As predicted this week, Girl’s Day return did earn them the top spot this week. I predicted something, and it happened. Shhh… Don’t need to tell everyone it was guaranteed. Monsta X and GOT7 both rose to second and third place, knocking out all of last week’s Top 3. Instead, CNBLUE and GFriend hold out fourth and fifth place. April, especially the first two weeks, is shaping to be a battleground (quite sure I used this analogy a few weeks back, but it has been a few weeks, so I don’t see anything wrong with it). Next week alone, we will be seeing Winner, Dream Catcher, Red Velvet, Oh My Girl, INX, Taeyeon (SNSD), IMFACT  and DAY6 make their respective comebacks. There is more coming in the second week, as well. And I am having a hard time working which days to publish reviews for just the first week.

But I have university and other commitments that I need to account for. It sounds like a few late nights are in order. Or the better use of my train rides on a daily basis.

Easter is fast approaching. Like two more weeks and the Easter Bunny will be giving out chocolate eggs. But that means submission dates are fast approaching for me. But enough me, I hope you all have an amazing week!!!

For me, I have been a little stressed but that ain’t going to stop me from releasing reviews. Though, we should all prepare for the mass of comebacks that are going to trample us in April.

GFriend is the only survivor from last week to remain in the top 3. Both Highlight’s Plz Don’t Be Sad and CN Blue’s  Between Us debuted at the number 1 and 2 spots respectively. Welcome to the weekly chart for the second week of March 2017. Time is going a little too quick for me. Soon, it will be Easter and with another blink of the eyes, we are at Christmas and New Years. Slowly starting to suffocate with these assignments, like any other years. But I will continually try my absolute best to push out reviews as quickly as I can.

As for my posting schedule, I will be posting every day except for Tuesdays. That is the schedule for now and as my personal timetable starts getting cramped, I will be cutting down the number of days. It’s just every day in KPOP brings new releases and it is very easy to fall behind. Don’t know how I am going to do exam periods, but I will work it out.

None of last week’s top 3 (KARD, BTS and Taeyeon) survived being in the top 5 this week, which each song dropping quite a few spots down the chart. Instead, GFriend, BTOB and Brave Girls took over the top 3 spots. B.A.P followed quite intensely behind. All four artists made their respective debuts this week on the chart, which surprisingly hasn’t happened before to this extent.

But watch out Top 3, GOT7 is coming back. Given their history on the charts, I think they will definitely give everyone a run for their money.  Furthermore, I would be keeping an eye on the past Top 3.  Songs do drop and then rise again, as we have seen in previous weeks.

University is finally back and I have been inundated with a lot of work. But that ain’t stopping me from posting to this site. This is the chart for the 1st week of March. I have yet to figure what days I can post yet. I can only make a decision once things start picking up (First week is always chill and relaxed. Second week is where things start getting more intense). So I should make a decision either this or next week.

K.A.R.D remains in the top spot this week, making it the first song to stay at the top for 2 weeks this year. They were followed by BTS’s Not Today and Taeyeon’s Fine. Two songs that need no explanation why. Gugudan and Lovelyz both made their respective chart debuts this week in the top 10.

We also say goodbye to I Wish by Cosmic Girls this week, who have remained on the charts for all nine weeks and became a very strong contender every single week. Even in its final week, the song remained towards the top of the charts placing 6. Other songs will also be leaving the chart this week and you can see the list in the small table following the chart below.

And like every other week, it’s going to be one big week. But with BTOB, B.A.P, DAY6, VICTION, GFriend, Suzy (Miss A) & Park Won and Brave Girls making their comebacks this week, I feel like my introductory sentence for this paragraph is quite underwhelming.

Welcome back to this week’s chart for the second week of February 2017. I finally got around to doing some housekeeping with the site. Mainly organise last year’s charts into a page and update the links for the ‘Weekly KPOP Charts‘, which will archive the 2017 charts. You can see the changes by clicking on ‘2016 Charts and Specials‘ for the 2016 charts and other special posts in 2016 or ‘Weekly KPOP Charts‘ for the 2017 chart links (plus updated rules for the chart), which you can find on the top of the page in the menu bar.

CLC takes out top spot this week. This is their second week at the top with Hobglobin. They made it to the top during the 4th week of January. However, they were hotly contested by two newer groups that both made their first comeback this week: MASC and SF9.

The charts this week can be described as erratic. I have never seen so many big drops or songs jumping up so many places. Sure I have seen songs doing large jumps on the chart, but they were usually the only one or two for the week. In total, 1/3 of the chart experienced large jumps (either up or down the charts). Also, there are a lot of debuts this week (as you can see on the charts).

I hear BTS, B.I.G, MelodyDay, Soyu (Sistar) & Baekhyun (EXO) and K.A.R.D are making their respective comebacks next week. Throw in Wonder Girl’s final song into the mix and I am quite sure the charts next week is going to be even more erratic. In the meanwhile, scroll down for this week’s chart.

Welcome back to the charts for the 1st week of February 2017. I hope you all have had a fantastic week. My one was uneventful, until today, but I will save myself from immediate embarrassment and tell you that story another day.

Comebacks that made it onto this week’s charts are from Red Velvet and Zion.T. Soloist I is a late entry to the charts, as it has been 3 weeks since her debut with “If You Wish Hard, It Will Come True“. Per usual, her song will stay for the 9 weeks FROM her release date.

This week, Seohyun topped the charts with her solo debut single. CLC was almost there but missed out on the top spot. Another singer that needs to be mention is AOA. They have been going up and down constantly each week. You could possibly account for this often change due to is rise on the South Korean charts (and YouTube recommendations for me).

Next week is going to be one busy week with the Lunar New Year celebrations drawing to an end. That means more comebacks and debuts in the next week. Cross Gene, MASC, DAY6, SF9, Block B, Jung Joon Young, NCT Dream are just some of the major bands tipped to make a return.

Welcome to the fourth and final week of January 2017. Lunar New Year just went passed and I would like to wish you all the best in the year of the Rooster. May the year be full of luck, wealth and happiness!

So much green in this week’s chart. That is quite surprising because I am used to seeing so much red usually. As expected, Suzy’s solo debut, Rain’s comeback made it onto the charts. They join 2NE1’s final song and Luna, Solar and Hani’s collaboration. Pentagon’s newest song, Pretty Pretty, landed on the 31st spot and (according to my prediction) will rise next week.

Hopefully, next week we will see IMFACT, MelodyDay, Red Velvet and Zion.T on the charts. As usual, songs released on Friday (and on some weeks, Thursday) will be included in the following week’s chart. An example of this is Melody Day’s latest release (on Friday 27th of Jan). As it was released on a Friday, it would be included in the following week’s charts (between the dates of 29th of Jan to 4th of Feb).

Welcome to the third week of January 2017. Another busy week, but I have been trying hard to push out reviews for you all!

The charts for this week was everything I had expected. But there was something that caught me by surprised when I looked at my Excel spreadsheet for this week. For a girl group who just debuted, Dream Catcher is proving to be a powerful force in my books, as they debuted in third place this week! Looking forward to the next few weeks and their future releases if they are capable of doing that!

Some songs didn’t make the cut this week including Suzy’s solo and Rain’s comeback. I can only predict that they may make their debut on the charts next week, but we will have to wait and see. For next week, you can expect Solar, Luna and Hani’s collaboration to make an appearance; along with 2NE1’s farewell song, Pentagon’s newest single, MelodyDay, Suzy (again) and many other collaborations.

Next week is going to be another of those complicated weeks. The end of next week (for those who don’t know) is Lunar New Year. I am trying to schedule reviews for those days, but I don’t know how far I can get with the reviews in the next week. Next week’s chart will also be up on Monday, rather than Sunday. A major shift on the charts, with the songs topping last week dropping quite heavily on the charts. This made way for newer songs to make their debut. If you read my reviews, NCT127 did not achieve a favourable review. However, it manages to be the highest debuting song this week, at second place. With many songs making their debut this week being quite catchy, I wonder how the charts will be next week.

For example, Boom Boom by Seventeen only has 4 more weeks on the charts and For Life by EXO will appear on the charts for another 7 weeks).

Songs that debuted on or after 1st of Jan will follow last year’s chart and appear for 9 weeks (marked by the normal ‘new’ sign). Songs that have spent some time on the charts prior to my absence (like Mamamoo’s Decalcomanie) will simply have a coloured arrow (no numbers) showing if they have dropped or rose since the last chart at the end of November last year.

Also, a few songs should have made their debut this week. Since this week has been a little awkward and tiring for me, I did not have the time (or energy) to listen to all of them. Hence, they will start their 9 weeks from next week. My apologies. Artists in this category include NCT 127 and AKMU.
