Falling – John Park

Song

This must have to be the most beautiful song so far for the year. Is this the year of the rookies? Ailee gave us a performance so good. John Park too gave us a great song. It truly can not be described with words. It makes sense. The lyrics are not beautiful. I LOVE THIS SONG. Now, to clear something up. On the table I have for my favourite 20 of the month, John’s song is pretty low. Why? Because I was under a rock. This song is like beauty. Why can’t singers be more like this when they sing?

Music Video

A great music video which connects with the title of the song. Falling. A shipping containers falling from the sky. In which a guy is in and singing to his lover. The music video is like the song. Can not be described by words. The only thing I really have to complain about with this video though is the ending of it. I really thought the ending felt plain. Also, the container had sunk really low. There is no way the container could’ve washed up on the beach. Oh well, Thank God John is okay. More songs. Yah!!!

Live Performance

No dance. No need to complain.

And The Rating?

9.5/10. Love the song, music video & performance.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

Heaven – Ailee

Song

I really liked Wheesung. To know that he trained this girl to be a better singer than she was on YouTube is pretty amazing. I really loved this song. It is a great example of a good song, good voice and a somewhat good rap. She is one of the best singers I have ever heard (Anyone heard her version of Halo? It is like the real thing!). She has this good voice that I think only some singers can have (I still believe BEG have these skills). Now, I am confused her. I this song, you really can’t hear her rap. I Know she can rap. They Are Coming is an excellent example of her rapping skills. I can only hear a bit of rapping just barely audible behind “Heaven, Heaven, Heaven, Heaven”. That is about it. I am really disappointed. In the YouTube description box, they wrote that this song includes a good voice and rap. Yet no rap!

Music Video

Heaven – Jesus, we get the connection. I really love the music video here. For once, there is a music video that does not cross the line. Some videos are just dodgy and don’t relate to the lyrics. This song does which is amazing. The only thing I have to say is I hate the chorus part of the video. It looks too messy in my point view. It’s too cluttered and too bright. This video is also has this really good plot in it. At first we see Ailee and the Jesus guy. We assume they are going out because of how the video portrays them and the lyrics. However towards the end, we find out that her actual boyfriend comes and that the Jesus guy is actually Jesus himself looking down at Ailee. Such a touching video.

Live Performance

I love this live performance of this song. Manly the dance. It reflects beat and have these heavenly dance moves to it. Perfect to the theme of the song.

And The Rating?

Perfect voice, song, music video & live performance. Need more rapping though. 9.5/10.

Have Fun Watching! 😀 Troy.

Blue – Big Bang

Song

Is anyone else excited for their comeback? I think everyone is. I absolutely am anticipating their comeback and new concept/ style.  The teasers are rocking and very nice. Thierlatest song they released (Blue) is really nice. I don’t know for sure but I have a feeling this song reflects what happened to them in the past 8 months – 1yr. Amazing. I absolutely love this song. However it kin of uses the same outline as Love Song. Daesung still has 2 parts, T.O.P has 1 rap part. GD gets the most line. Taeyang is the last singer to be introduced the song and Seungri starts the chorus. Also comparing Love Song & Blue, the “I hate this love song” is the same as “I’m singing my blue~”. But beside that part, this song really has the blues. It is very nice and soothing in a way.

Music Video

This music video definitely reflects the song very well. The lighting particularly makes this video look very depressing. Even the smoke added into the music video looked depressing. The filter for the colour that was meant to be in the video is really good. *I think they used the same filter for their teasers*. Again the music video as well looks like Love Song. I don;t know why but Bad Boys also kind of had the same concept as Love Song. Actually now come to the think of it, Blue and Bad Boys are very similar. Let’s hope they don’t repeat the same thing in the their future music videos.

Now time to look at the plot. It tells a story of 5 guys who became heartbroken thanks to one girl. What is with this trend? Most of the KPOP bands (male AND female) have been hitting on the opposite sex. I don’t understand. Here are also a list of things I would like to point out in this music video which were awkward:

  1. G-Dragon runs funny.
  2. The girl has a face that kind of resembles a guy,
  3. Its me or the girl seems familiar.
  4. Big Bang looks kind of lonely in most of their music video (Baby, I’m so Lonely, lonely, lonely).
  5.  The smoke was a distraction for me.
  6. I thought the girl was an alien thanks to an angle which she was filmed at
  7. I think I am wrong but does that car have like 2 steering wheels near the end. (I am not sure, but it looks like it though).

Live Performance

I was actually surprised that this song had a dance. I is quite interpretive, nice and fitted in with the song as slow but meaningful dance. I’m not really keen on the lying down part which they have but what ever floats their boat. Boo Yah!

And The Rating?

Big Bang Comeback with this song is really cool. 9/10. 😀

Have Fun Watching 😀 Troy.

Live Performance Here:

Somebody Else – Se7en (Korean Version)

Song

I loved the Japanese Version of  “Somebody Else”. Must I say, this is the second best song on the mini-album. (The first is “When I Can’t Sing”.) I really love Se7en’s voice in this song. It’s the same singer however the song makes it sound so different to the rest of the album. Again, I really love the chorus. As soon this song was on my MP3 (Yes, I need to upgrade. NOW!), it was on replay for ages. I have to say, now that I am thinking of it, the Korean Version flows a bit more than the Japanese version. ‘Somebody Else~”.

Music Video

Can someone tell me where Seven city is? I would like to visit that place. Its looks really cool (& quiet & dark?). Anyway, only one major flaw which I happened to not get in the whole music video. “Se7                                  en City”. Could someone possibly tell me why there is a big gap between the “7” and “E”?

Anyway, another omantic video from Se7en. This one kind of relates to “I’m Going Crazy”. Let’s say, his girlfriend meets him on the streets of” Se7            en City”, and kind of does not want to meet them despite they do by walking past each other. So yeah.

Live Performance

I don’t think there is any. Is there?

And The Rating?

When I Can’t Sing & Somebody Else ———–> 10/10.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

NalinA – Block B

Song

Wow, this song was really good. I disliked Freeze and Wanna B. They were not “enjoyable” to listen to. Anyway, Did i say I was blown away by this song? I really think they now have potential in the industry. At first I thought they were going to just gain a little bit of fans during their career but now I think differently. I really love the chorus of the song. It is so catchy. And after the chorus the actual “Nalina, Nalina, Nalina, Nalina … Rock My World”. It was so good. Nothing more to say about this song expect for the WOWness in the song.

Music Video

Now I love a good old fight scene in my movies. And this one was kind of weird. Look, at first I thought this video was practical. I apoligse now. A big stomp that cause waves on a building top which also knock everyone out is kind of…childish. Its like these creators are like children. I hated it. A fight scene is always practical. This video was not.

However I did like the scenery and lighting in this video. I gives a very dramatic feel to the video at the same time. Technically there is not a clear plot, however can some tell me why that guy handcuffed the girl? I am really confused. Beside that, I am happy.

Live Performance

Okay, its hilirous that they called their “dance version” a “gorilla version”. However (in my point of view) they need to get rid of those jackets. They take up so much space and look very unappealing. Beside that I really love the bridge of the song and the rest of the performance.

And The Rating?

Catchy song, okay music video and a really good performance. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

When I Can’t Sing – Se7en

Song

What a slow song but smooth. Not many songs are like this, smooth and slow. Too much American influence. Too much party or heavy dubstep music. Sometimes you have to take it slow. I really like this song, especially with Se7en’s voice. The whole thing I really love. I guess this song has some kind of significance. Maybe because it has been 9 years since his debut. This song from his voice and the instrumental can tell there is a lot of symbolism, especially the title of the song.

Music Video

Something I think have to address here but can also go under the all the headings. I really do not like the fact that JYP has his title saying or whatever at the start of the song here. He does not even make an appearance in the music video itself. I guess he can acknowledge himself in the teaser however the music video not really. “JYP…. for Se7en” . I guess he is putting more emphasis on himself rather than the actual singer. *Thumbs Down*

Live Performance

I really don’t think this song should have a proper dance to it. It is a slow-moving song and I hate slow-moving dances (fox-trot, waltz etc.). I really prefer watching Se7en get up on stage and just stand their and sing. Also one of the stages I thought was kind of cluttered. I’m not sure which one but I am sure there was one cluttered one!

And The Rating?

Was totally blown away with this song. 10/10

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Warrior – B.A.P

Song

Wow! This is a very good song that set their careers with a boom. This song is really good. I have been playing it on the loop. The chorus is okay in this song but the raps are just awesome. Bang Yong Guk & Zelo’s success in the past had really reflected in this song. Zelo’s rap for me was the best part. Rapping without taking a breath. I’m proud to say that I will be waiting for new songs from this group. I really love the “Warrior” part. It sounds really good and is the most memorable part of the song for me.

Music Video

Wow. Is it me or is everyone really impress with this music video? Like seriously impress! Everything is really included in this music video and nothing is excluded. I find that the music video set is very compact and tight which gives off a good feel. Oh yes, since this song has a gangsta like feel to it, I quite enjoy the fact the music video set is like some on garage. Just imagine the bill in this music video. 2 cars smashed. Quite a lot of money wasted there. But still really good music video.

Live Performance

Even the stage can not hold itself up when they are doing their small dance sequence on stage. LOL. Their dancing is very powerful. I quite enjoy watching them stomp around. Also the “digidigideom digidigideom” was quite cool. I really like how they fall on the stage and then scurry back for their next dance move. Very smart. Also, I can not figure out who is who (except for Zelo —-> he has permed hair). The rest all look the same. (RACIST. Only Joking :D)

And The Rating?

Too good for a debut. MYNAME had a good debut as well, but not as good as B.A.P. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching 😀 Troy.

Dirty – Miryo

Song

OMG, her debut solo album is out, and it rocks. Now that is off my chest. This song is equally good as the album. I find this song does express a lot of emotion is a very fiery way. I really love the chorus and the “What the ****!” part of the song. I always believe Brown Eyed Girls has potential to be a hit, even their solos. It has a catchy beat & rhythm to it which makes it sound good. Its not like her other songs which she raps in like Sixth Sense, Abracadabra but equally they all share the same amount of hatred for her (their) lovers. Really good.

Music Video

One thing to say: This music video is going to be banned. Rude fingers covered in fire, a doctor slapping a nurses ass (who is wearing an extremely short skirt & looks like Tiffany from SNSD), swear words in the lyrics & the singer/rapper slapping really weird tan body builders (?). Yeah, that’s right. R rated from the start.

Now why are the body builders weird. Has anyone noticed that they have really tanned bodies while their head is white? No? It is as though they sun bathe but with a plastic bag around their heads. LOL. Anyway, the music video tells about a girl (Miryo) who is paralyzed (I think). Her boyfriend & best friend start to date each other while Miryo is unable to move. She plots revenge on all the characters displayed in the video (Boyfriend, best friend, doctor, nurse). One event starts a chain of events that I assumed killed them all? Not really.  Oh well. Oh by the way, Miryo is soon trapped by fire. How does she survive? I really want to know how she got out of there alive.

LOL. Also, I was expecting the video to actually have the horror movie theme in it but sadly it did not. The music video & song goes really well with each other, especially the misleading teasers.

Live Performance

The dance to this song is really cool. Basically the most memorable part was at the chorus where the lyrics are like ‘Dirty Dirty” (NOT THE REAL LYRICS). The dance move here intimates washing hands which is really cool. Also what is with big furry jackets? Well they are not bad. Block B have caused a bigger problem. LOL.

And The Rating?

As always, great song, music video & performance. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching 😀 Troy.

What is Love? – EXO K / EXO M

Song

These boys can sing. They have great vocal skill and sound very good. The Korean version is kind of bland & boring. The Chinese Version flows only a bit. The guitar in this song is really boring. Okay, I’ll admit. Not a fan of this song. Not a fan of both versions. Let’s hope their debut song is much better than this song. Their voices really don’t match this kind of genre which I am confused about as well. Yes, they can sing but I really think this song is not a good song to listen to.

Music Video

Oh Boy. This music video has no plot. No plot at all. Instead it is a music video with all their teasers rammed into one with a few extra scenes we have not seen. Boring. I was more intrigued with the instrumental that was going in their teasers not what was actually was going on in them.

Anyway, there is one thing I can agree in this boring music video. Really great visuals. (No Homo). They are all good looking. (No Homo).

Anything Else?

I am not writing much about this song. (I might need to write an essay for their official debut song). Just who thought of the idea of a prologue single? Seriously, this song puts me off EXO. They have a lot to do in their debut then.

And The Rating?

A poor song but great vocals. SM Ent once again fails to impress me. First Mr. Simple, A-Cha, The Boys now this. 4.5/10. Sorry guys.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Chinese Version

Korean Version

Sixth Sense – Brown Eyed Girls

Song

This is a very dominate song with very powerful vocals. I really loved this song. Each of the singers add their own originality to it in a way never have I seen before. Even though it is inspired by a really great piece of music, it has been upgraded into some kind of dance/war themed song. The three high notes were … WOW. Jea, Narsha & Ga-In’s voices were complimenting the songs theme and each showed a lot. Miryo’s rap is very profound and again dominate. The only thing I have against this song is some of the English in this song. Take the line “Bichi Bichi, Guilty Guilty”. If I had not looked up the lyrics, I would’ve thought she said “bitchy, bitchy.” Also “Hit That High”, I thought Jea had sung “Hit That Top”.

Music Video

This music video has a very dominate yet mysterious and sneaky plot. I absolutely love the layout and the scenery. It tells us what kind of happened. I am guessing BEG used to be lovers with that evil guy in the golden mask. However he trapped them, tied them up left them in abandoned houses, in dark chambers (which happen to be a hallway), chained them up or left them tied up in a pond.  They escape in the music video and want revenge. The guy in the golden mask sends his troops to destroy these girls however they fight back and the golden mask guy is defeated in the end. However in the end, the revenge/defeat sequence was only merely a dream which ended BEG/ dancers to be defeated. How this relates to real life is truly amazing. Revenge is sweet however once your lover have left you for another person, you must be reminded that he or she cannot be with you again unless you accept defeat and live on with your life. If you plan to avenge yourself and kill your lover, you are truly your worst enemy because you would miss them. (Well, unless they have caused you so much pain that you hate them and never had a real feeling for them).

Live Performance

I have nothing to say about this dance but sexy. OMG, I died at the sight of them dance this. Ga-In, in particular. I have to say the clothing have a meaning themselves.

And The Rating?

Sexy, symbolic yet great song – 9.5/10.

Hello – SHINee

Song

Oh Boy. This is a really good song. I love how the song is mashed up at the end. The rap and vocalist sings /raps at the same time. Actually to be right, SHINee is the only Kpop band that I know does this. People may think that this part was rushed to quickly end the song but I quite like this. Not bad. Sad that Minho actually gets a small part in the song. The chorus is quite catchy. “Hello, Hello” accompanied with the dance moves is very catchy.

Music Video

Oh boy. I hate this music video. They are all staring lovingly with flowers, rings, cake & even hand painted a doll for this girl. Now this is really nice of them, but why do we not see a picture of this girl. Now I have not checked out the lyrics of song as of yet but I am assuming they don’t answer this question. Who are they waiting for? The same girl from Replay? I don’t get this but SHINee kind of like the 5 boys 1 girl relationship thing. Juliette (Jap Ver.), Replay & now Hello? What is going on?

Live Performance

The dance (as I said above) is quite catchy. However I have a great hatred of full colour suits, especially red. I don’t mind normal suits that are grey, but seriously red is too far man.

And The Rating?

Catchy song, catchy dance, not so catchy music video. 5/10. [NOTE: Previously, I have given this a 4/10. To be fair, I have bumped this song up to a 5/10. 4 is kind of harsh don’t you think?]

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

You & I – IU

Song

Much I say much. Thumbs Up!!!!! This has to be the best song. Wait, did I say best song? I mean best album ever. I just listened to the first track and later I was at the end. That was definitely a first. Regardless of how good the singer/s were (excluding IU) I never sit through the whole album. I would dislike at least one song from the album. But Last Fantasy 2 was different. She kept the whole the same tune from Good Day to You & I. There is no English in the song and the whole song is the best ever. Enough said about the song, I think I am going off topic now.

Music Video

The Music Video is really good and matches the song (which itself was very good). Its not boring and pretty good. I loved both music videos (The normal and performance version) The dance was very nice. and very creative. The plot was really weird but very good. (Wait, is that even possible?). Its about a girl who is some-kind of inventor and a guy in a coma (goose is his soul). *Guy is in the coma, goose is alive. Guy moving, Goose frozen* The inventor badly wants to be with the guy and has used every trick in the book to wake him up, however she does know that in the future he will wake up. So she gives up on waking him and builds a time machine to time travel into the future. The guy wakes up from the coma and is very lost (I think). Anyway to the future, the guy is seen in the shop with the girl as the store manager. They don’t know about their past however they are both familiar with each other (long lost lovers).

Live Performance

The live performance is pretty cool. The gears are even taken from the music video and included on stage, which is pretty cool. The dance is also very creative with the hand movements copying a clock. Also at the end, when they in groups, tilt their hands/head to one side is like one gear turning effecting the next gear and the next one after that (if you understand what I just said…). So a pretty cool dance.

And The Rating?

I think this is the longest review I have written yet. LOL. Count the words (not literally but if you want to…). To rate this song, I would give it a 10/10. Excellent song, excellent music video & excellent performance. Nothing else I can list.

Have Fun Watching 😀 Troy.

Going Crazy – Teen Top

Song

Finally back to their Supa Luv image but with more swag. These kind of songs matches them. No Perfume On You was, in my point of view one of the worsts songs in 2011. This song has an amazing instrumental that can make anyone dance as soon as you hear it. Now this song is much different than Supa Luv and No Perfume On You (NPOY). I had to listen to Supa Luv 2-3 times to get into it. NPOY did not even succeed to get into my good books. However, I got into this song straight away. The beat was very funky and you know this song has some swag. (Imagine reading this in my mind, SWAAAG~ LOL).

Music Video

This has to be a good start to the year. Teen Top comes back with a really great music video. Its about a guy who is crazy for this girl. So crazy that he has to run after her while she is on a train and bus. Now it is like the girl does not notice him, but this proves that the guy is to keep so she lures him onto the top of some building. Now that is my interpretation of the music video and there could be lots others. Also, Teen Top themselves is bringing back SWAG into K pop. Do I have to say the setting is really good. Alley and SWAG, who would’ve guessed.

Live Performance

Again SWAG. This song has a rocking dance to it. The dance is really good and the clothing to a SWAG song is ideal.  However I am not a fan of Teen Top so I don’t know names. However that guy really needs to lose his perm. Seriously, right now.

And The Rating?

A really good song with (yes?) SWAG in it. 8.5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy. 😀

The Grasshopper Song – Sunny Hill .

Song

The guitar (well, I think it is a guitar) sounds really good. I love the fact that the guitar changes into the electronic beat at the start, adds a whole new dimension to KPOP. The vocals are really good. I have to say since Midnight Circus, they have gone a long way and developed so much more. The only problem is, when they sing “Ring Ring” they pronounce the R’s as L’s. Also, I am assuming they are trying to copy the sound of a grasshopper, but Ling Ling does not sound like a grasshopper. All their vocals are really good. Not really happy with Janghyun’s part of the song, does he really have to be autotuned?

Music Video

Smashing video, well kind of. Janghyun plays a grasshopper (those dudes dressed in black) and they all work for sugar? One girl (Jubi) plays the Grasshopper Queen, well I think so. The other girls I have no idea what they are. I am assuming Narsha only appeared on the teaser because I don’t see her face anywhere in the video unless she is that lady who plays the guitar in the video. But beside that, the music video was quite fun to watch. The grasshopper made me laugh. LOL.

Live Performance

The music video was quite fun and warm while the performance was really tense and quite serious. That ruined the atmosphere. Here you have a warm and enjoyable music video and then a serious performance. Anyway, their choreography was really unique. At the Ling Ling part, they had their hands around imaginary balls on their head which shows us a grasshopper. Very Smart.

And The Rating?

Great song, fun music video and a serious performance. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching 😀

Is Being Pretty Everything – Fat Cat

Song

For some reason, I dig these kind of songs that uses proverbs like in this case “Never Judge A Book by its Cover.” This song takes this saying and puts it in an situation of love.  Not only am I really pleased about this song, but pleased with the artist herself, Fat Cat. Her vocals have changed from her previous single. I am also pleased about the comparsion between this particular video and the other KPOP videos put together. This video is empowering and teaches us all a good lesson which many of us actually never practice. “Never Judge A Book By Its Cover.”

Music Video

The music video is what I really love. This plays around on a few other proverbs like “What goes up must come down, Don’t let anyone control your life”. It tel

Live Peformance

I really love the live performance. Firstly she has changed her hairstyle from a very deep red to a very pleasant blonde colour. Secondly, the dance moves really go well with the song and is very catchy also. Finally, I quite loved the fact that she has a lot of make-up on. I don’t really know the full purpose of the fact she has layers of make-up on, but again – “Never Judge a Book by its Cover”.

And The Rating?

I sound like a broken record but “Never Judge a Book by its Cover”. 8.5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

It’s War – MBLAQ

Song

At first, this song felt very weird and it took me a few times to actually get a feel of the song, though I really loved the piano in the whole song. This is like an ungraded version of Mona Lisa, Cry & Stay put together, which is an epic upgrade. Anyhow, I also really love the piano (as I just wrote that -.-), and the other many classical instruments that were included to make this really good upbeat song. Oh, yes, this song is much better than Mona Lisa last year by the way. Much Better.

Music Video

The music video has some really unclear points. Actually to be far, the plot was really hard to look at. An assassin(Lee Joon) tries to kill his target (aka. girl). He notices that someone else is trying to shoot her, so he puts down his sniper and saves the girl. The girl is shot, but Lee Joon kills the shooter. He than takes her to his friend’s (Thunder) house (I am assuming Thunder’s character lives on or near a  car tip) and cares for her. This is where it gets very confusing. Thunder and Lee Joon’s characters care for this girl and love starts to bloom. You can see the love between the girl and Thunder, however to me, Lee Joon seems uninterested in the girl. He looks at Thunder’s things and does nothing else. Anyway, after the girl is fully healed, she opens up her heart for Thunder and Lee Joon gets really jealous. So Lee Joon’s drags the girl out and then has a fight with Thunder. After Lee Joon’s character takes the gun out and points it at Thunder, the girl jumps in the way to protect her lover. Lee Joon shoots but he curves the bullet and it hits himself with it (aka. suicide). There is only one reason why he wants to suicide in this video and that is to allow Thunder to date the girl, I think. There is basically no other reason why in the whole music video.  That is it. Now I don’t get this part. Moments from his death, Lee Joon pulls out a piece of paper or something which makes the girl sob even more. What is that piece of paper? It looks like some ticket to a plane or Disneyland possibly. I am very confused.

Live Performance

I am no dancer however I feel that the dance to this song is not really that epic like the song. I find the special effects (fire, fireworks) and the music together make the performance really epic and the dance is kept to the minimum. Also I quite enjoy the fake bullet that shoot Lee Joon on their MCountdown comeback. Well, it was really predictable for their first comeback that they had that now that I think of it. Oh well.

And The Rating?

What a great song & music video, Performance was a letdown (a bit). 8.5/10.
