Breathe – Miss A

Song

I’m sorry to the many Miss A fans out there. I won’t say the vocals and rap of the song were bad or terrible, because they weren’t. I will just say the vocals and the rap in the song were unappealing to me as a viewer. I did not really like song the at all, except how fun and playful the tune and instrumental of the song was in my point of view. Oh and of course I can not forget the addiction of the line “I can’t Breathe.” So know when someone says that to me, I’ll dance along to Miss A. LOL Only joking. I will only dance if appropriate. If the person can’t breathe because asthma, I will call the ambulance.

Music Video

Like the last review I wrote (Fantastic Baby by Big Bang), I beleive this is more of a visual than a song that should be taken seriously. There is nothing really to discuss in this music video well, unless I get rid of the Live Performance part and discuss only the dance here. But, I don’t want to leave out a necessary part.

OH, by the way. I was horrified by the Brady Bunch like page. It was a mess.

Live Performance

There are a few well known dances for this song. I love all dances to this song from the Penguin to the Pony. They are all very creative and match the playful tone of the dance. I in particular loved the Penguin dance and the ending.

And The Rating?

Under the new system, I would give this song a 8.3 / 10.

Fantastic Baby – Big Bang

Song

“Wow~, Fantastic Baby.” If you have heard this song, then this line would have probably been stuck in your mind as well. Big Bang has taken these three simple words and have jammed my memory with it. All I can do after listening to a song is say “Wow~ Fantastic Baby.”

Now this song really does not focus on vocals or rapping that much unlike Blue or Bad Boys. This song is just a simple dance track like Last Farewell/Baby Baby. It is more of a visual and to show how much Big Bang has changed.

I really quite enjoyed Daesung’s bit in the song with the really high and long note, GD’s ending of the song and GD’s “Catch Me On Fire” in the live performances. Not at the start of song but at the end of song. Also I thought T.O.P’s rap had a different feel to it especially with the emphasis at the end of each line or verse. Taeyang showed great vocals and Seungri, well was more visual than vocals in this song.

Music Video

Again this is dance like music video because the song suggest this theory. I don’t understand how the riots in the music video reflects the dance theme of the song. Anyway, each of the members are kings in their own palace. GD has some long hair and trashy make-up. Later in the video, GD’s hair is shorter and make-up is much neater, suggesting he got out the place which he must have stayed for some long period of time. Taeyang was frozen up and he soon thawed to escape his closure. Daesung was bound by chains and soon released himself from his dungeon. T.O.P was stuck in these picture frames and also escaped from his “picture” self. Seungri was trapped by girls who scratched him? Yeah, not so sure on Seungri’s part of the music video there.

Anyway, as you read above, each member has their own reasons to escape from these conditions which they have all been (except for Seungri). But in the end, with those on their side in the riots dance in celebration. Yeah, sounds like a a bunch of teenagers who are grounded but slowly sneaked their way out of their parents sight to go this dance party.

Live Performance

I must say, these performances must be the most epic performances ever. Every stage is different and you can definitely tell by the stage and effects that YG Entertainment is investing a lot of money into this group. I love the dance for this song but unfortunately have forgotten the name of the dance. Something like windscreen wipers?

And The Rating?

Under the new system I would give this song a 9.3 out of 10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy. 😀

Goodbye Baby – Miss A

Song

Okay, this song is an okay song. It really is not that good in my point of view. Actually I don’t find any songs since this song onwards that is heavily promoted (aka. Touch) really catchy. These songs are not like Breathe (NOTE: I have been under a rock this whole time. I only found out about this song last month) and Bad Girl Good Girl. There is not a thing which I enjoyed vocally in this song.

The vocals for some reason do not sound appealing at all to me. Neither does the rap in the song sound that well done. The only thing in this song, like any other song, I found great was the chorus. Not the best chorus but a good chorus.

Music Video

And this is why being rich will make many people greedy. An actor, more special than the director is treated as a king, is filming something; a music video or stage performance. He finds four girls who I think who are his lovers, all at once. He treats them like trash by running their rehearsal of the song “Goodbye Baby”. (NOTE: He eats like a baby and is the rudest person existing ever). They decide to ruin his filming by killing everyone on the set and leaving the actor alive. He is trapped in a giant test tube, with water slowly filling the test tube up. The girls then take revenge into their own hands and soon escape. They leave the actor to survive and in the end, he laughs as if the girls have not done any harm to him.

Now there 2 main flaws in this music video:

  1.  Why would the cockiest guy date four girls from the one band? He is now also the most stupid person as well. Does he think those girls don’t discuss their boyfriends with each other? How long does he expect his cover would not be blown?
  2. He is also the weakest guy ever. He is in the test tube and is floating to the top of the test tube. Does he not know how to get out of the damn test tube? Can’t he pull himself up from the test tube? Is he that weak?

Live Performance

I don’t really like the dance in this song that much. I just love how there is the “Follow the Leader” concept in the dance like the chorus. Besides that, everything was just plain and dull.

And The Rating?

Under the new rating system, I would give this song 5.8 out of 10.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

G.N.O – Wonder Girls

Song

A very dance worthy song. The dance has a really good electro beat to the song that is much different to like Nobody, The Boys, Love Is Move. Anyway, I really love how the English in the song is wrapped around the Korean words to compliment it. I think the stand out for this is Yubin. She has a decent amount of vocals compared to Sohee or Lim who usually get more than Yubin herself. But as I always say with the Wonder Girls. Great Vocals.

Live Performance

Okay, this performance is actually pretty basic. Nothing too hard. Just people dancing. Like at a club.

And The Rating?

8/10. Nothing else to say expect for the above.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

Magic – Secret

Song

This was the first song which I had listen to by Secret and they left a really good impression. I listened all of their songs since (not including their Japanese song, except for their latest one). As I said before Secret uses girl power to get their song and message across. They don’t muck around. When they sing, they actually sing. There is proof in Magic, Madonna, Shy Boy, Starlight Moonlight & Love Is Move. However looking back, Secret has changed in many ways. Their vocals are 10 times better today than when they first sang Magic. The raps are also different since then to now. I am very happy that I found Secret cause they are one of th few bands that I listen to.

I must also address, I am confused with the origins of the words “Mazic”. Now I don’t know where that word came from however I believe it must be the pronunciation of English words in Korean or better:

Music+Magic=Mazic.

 Music Video

Also, something we must all agree on. Music Videos have gone a long way. Compare SNSD’s Into The New World with The Boys. Compare Big Bang’s Last Farewell to Fantastic Baby. Compare Secret’s Magic with Love Is Move. It all shows us the enhancement of  technology but either way a music video will always remain a music video. I don’t have any actually complaint with the music video. I quite enjoyed the music video. The singers have changed so much. Look at Zinger with her black hair or Hyosung with her black hair.

But seriously, they look sexier and prettier more now than then.

Live Performance

Is it me or Secret always chooses a really catchy dance. Look, I really can’t explain the dance. It is too good for words (Maybe because when I explain it, it sounds like something erotic). But “Oh My Magic, Magic, Magic. Oh My Magic, Magic, Magic.”

And The Rating?

I love Secret. This song was awesome. The music video was awesome. The dance was awesome. I Love Secret. 9.5/10.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

Hey You – CN Blue

Song

I really like CN Blue. They are a South Korean Band not a dance group. While all the viewers are amazed by the choreography or a song, it is great to know that there some groups/bands dropping choreography. An exmaple is CN Blue. They are just rocking on the stage doing their thing.

This song, I believe revisits their “I’m A Loner” days (I think I have I’m A Loner review somewhere here, but for some reason it won’t upload). What I love in this song is the catchy-ness of all of their songs, without doubt this one.  There is one flaw which so far I have picked out, the completly legit Engrish in the song. Now I know, CN BLUE is not known for having foreigners in the their band but seriously, “Once again, back again. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful one day.” Why can’t they just leave out the part in English and just have Korean in their song?

I am sorry if I angered any BOICEs out there. It just me sincere thoughts about the song. Beside the English, the song was really good.

Music Video

Ever want a music video for a Korean band to be filled up with foreigners? Well, this is the music for you. There may be one or two Koreans in there but seriously, why is there a whole heap of foreigners in CN Blue’s music video. Also where are they, I get they are in some hall, backstage like. I get why there is a cleaner, pizza delivery guy and make-up artist. But someone please tell me why there is those airport guys in the hall. I doubt thier back up dancers because CN Blue never has an choreography in their music. Okay may be you guys do not know who I am talking about. Well, I am talking about this guy:

Like who is he? Where did he come from? Well, there is something we all know, the PD or director went a bit over the top while looking for people to dance around like a dork.

Also, Jonghyun took this guy’s red stick away. What does the guy do? Dance. Like A Man. LOL.

Live Performance

Just a  live band playing their own song.

And The Rating?

9/10. The music video was funny and the song lyrics were confusing. Besdie those things, everything was good.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

O.K. – B1A4

Song

This song is really an electropop song. It was also a great debut song. It really launched the singers into the entertainment industry. I have to say the vocals was very great and very catchy. “I Love you-o-o-o-o-o-o-o~” LOL. All their mini-albums consist of many catchy songs, like Beautiful Target, My Love etc. which is really nice. This song built up their fan-base from the very start so good on them.

However the English of the song was horrific. Talk about stalking the English lyrics definitely sound like they are stalking the poor girl (but she comes to them… o.O) “Why is it that your footsteps sound as attractive as charms?” and “You have a lot of popularity, and this makes me feel insecure”. Wait, would that make them pedophiles? Only joking. However the lyrics do imply some kind of stalking action being done to the girl. (Or probably it is a new catchphrase to get a girl.)

Music Video

The music video was really good. This is because it takes me back into the time when i was a kid. There are basketballs, toy robots, bikes etc. So i am assuming they are trying to be cute. Yes, that’s is right, TRYING TO BE CUTE. Most of them were staring at the camera, awkwardly, as if they committed a crime and is trying to be innocent (not guilty). Another reason is their choreography is neat and pretty easy to follow. Its not like Super Junior’s or Beast’s. It is really creative and their chorus as well is very catchy along with the dance.

Live Performance

As I had mention above, the dance for this song is really good. It is not that complex like Super Junior’s or Beast’s. It is really creative. I also like how they are all in sync. That make it look organise.

And The Rating?

The song was really good. The music video and live performance was really good. What else to say but 8/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me – 2AM

Song

Ummm…. Nice engrish? “I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me”. Shouldn’t it be “I Wonder If You’re Hurt Like Me?“? LOL.

2AM is back with another slow but moving song. I am not a fan of 2AM and I don’t really like listening to their songs. However this song is much different. For some reason, I just can’t listen to a whole album or song by 2AM. I am a fan of ballads and that is what 2AM sings, however they are not the best. This song is much slower than normal songs and I am very pleased about the qualities of song. The vocals are very slow and blend themsleves nicely into the slow instrumental. I really love the chorus of the song and the “Hoo, Hoo … Hoo, Hoo” part.

Music Video

I personally love all their music videos on the other hand. They have a clear and defined plot. Their plots are usually much different from other KPOP ballads. The music video is about Jinwoon. The mini piano is what allows him to remember things. Without it, he would not remember anything. Hence why, he has only around 10-12 memories books on the shelf because the mini piano had broken a year and a bit ago. Without the piano everything will slowly be wiped out of his memories including all the photographs of his girlfriend and the letters she had written to him. Why? Because (and I am only assuming), the girl is dead and the only thing that can remind him of her are his memories. By the end of the video, all the memories would have gone. Since there is nothing on this world that would bring them back, Jinwoon too goes (or dies). Hence, why the piano is left at the end at the old man’s shop, no one to pick it up.

NOTE: I believe my plot summary is confusing and dodgy. For a more accurate response, don’t take my summary literal.

Live Performance

No dance for a song that requires no dance. 😛

And The Rating?

Very first 2AM song which I enjoyed. 8.5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Sherlock (Note & Clue) – SHINee

Song

What a really cool song. It really lives up to its stand as a really good comeback song. It is really funky and really modern. This by far is the best SHINee song ever. This is the first song by SHINee which I enjoyed hearing in Korean. I really do prefer SHINee singing Japanese, but this song may change my theory. Everyone has great vocals in this song. Minho and Key’s rap in the song is so awesome and Jonghyun, Onew and Taemin’s vocals is the best song. I really think they guys have gone a long way since their debut. The chorus is really the best part of the song. “Oh I’m Curious, Yeah. Oh, I’m Curious yeah, yeah…~”. That is literally stuck in my head. Definitely a song to listen to.

Music Video

MUST GET SOMETHING OFF MY CHEST: TAEMIN CUT YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that is off my chest, I can now continue.  Wow, A SM Ent. video with a plot? What is going on? This plot is actually fool-proof so not many people can point it flaws. However I really have to say something. That person who craved the statue must have been drunk or something when they did that. Why? That statue does not look anything what so ever like Jessica. I believe that was an insult to Jessica’s beauty. (Jessica looks really beautiful in this music video. LOL).

There is nothing I can pick beside that from the video. Except for how obvious that secret room is on the outside because of the two different shades on the walls and that Taemin’s hair gets in the way when he dance. A nice music video better than Mr. Simple, A-Cha, Hello etc.

Live Performance

I really love the dance for this song. Actually, this was the first song which I tried dancing to in public and trying to copy it. I really love the start, It is very creative. Especially the slow motion walking. Boy, That must have been the most creative dance move there. I really love the chorus where they are like doing something similar to an Irish dance or something. (No offence to anyone Irish out there, if I got the nationality wrong.) I also love the very start and ending of the song with the position of their hand. Like a detective.

And The Rating?

BEST COMEBACK EVER. 9.5/10. (I’m sorry, blame the teasers.).

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Face – NU’EST

Song

Another great debut song. It is very upbeat and electronic. I quite enjoyed listening to song … once. I really liked the song at first however when I continue to listen to the song, I find the song very distant and unappealing to me. Actually I feel that way to any After School or Son Dam Bi song. I am not sure if it’s the singer or the song or the company that’s putting me off, but it is something all the songs have something in common. Anyone have any ideas what?

Anyhow, I liked this song. The vocals were okay and the rap was okay as well. The chorus was pretty good as well.

Music Video

Ho Ho Ho. Well this song gives us some great and some not-so-great messages.Bullying is not on. Thank you for addressing this. Just because a person is quiet and shy does not make you have the right to mock. As for the not so great messages well:

1. Get bullied so you can have front row seats to your saviour bashing up your bully.

2. Watch people fight and bully.

Yeah, this video is like that. But the plot and how these messages are told through is pretty well thought of. [SIDE NOTE: I have to say the blonde hair guy looks a lot like a girl. Not cool]

Live Performance

OMG, this dance is really cool. The dance moves actually mimic a fight and others trying to help. That is pretty cool. I quite enjoyed the performance.

And The Rating?

Bullying sucks. 8/10. But still a great debut.

Have Fun Watching. Troy. 😀

Baby I’m Sorry – B1A4

Song

At first when I saw the title of the song, I thought of some slow ballad. “Baby I’m Sorry” sounds a lot more like a ballad than a great party song. But in the end it was a great party song. This actually stands out. I really loved the instrumental, the vocals and raps in the song. They were pretty impressive especially the end of the song. IO really liked the chorus and I don’t have nay complaints what so ever with the song.

Music Video

Oh boy, complaints here. 2 main complaints:

1. How much freaking lights to B1A4 want? They have a window with sunlight coming though and then there are all the lights in the house. So many  freaking lights. Use natural light not artificial.  The bill for this music video must be very big in this case. Just for the elctrity : $1,000,000. Only joking about the bill, but you must see, there is a lot of lights in this music video.

2. How much of a failure were the stairs in this video. They were practically bits of woods stuck together to form a fail staircase.

The stairs are missing bits of railing and the sides. Oh my god. Behind the singer (sorry about names, am in the process of learning them), there is no 2nd rail. So technically its half a staircase. No second railing at all. Level of carpentry: Pro.

Live Performance

Thank you no stairs were on the stage, or there may have been accidents the whole way. The dance is pretty nice in this song. No complaints. Well, Music Bank’s stage needed fireworks like MCountdown’s. That’s about it.

And The Rating?

Really great song, fail building techniques in the music video and a great stage performance. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Joma Joma – C-Real

Song

Since their success from No No No No No, I think this girl group has a lot of potential in the KPOP industry. This song proves so. This song is so light-hearted. Just listening to it once, I quite enjoyed it. There is nothing wrong with this song. Nothing at all. I really love the concpet and feel of the song. This song is completely different from songs like Bubble Pop by Hyuna, Trouble Maker by Trouble Maker, Haru Haru by Big Bang. This song is basically on its own.

I really do love this song, especially the sounds of the tapping shoes at the chorus. Overall the song is very catchy and very warm, especially when where I live, it is starting to become a little too cold for me. The vocals too are very superb.

Music Video

Basically, this music video is actually like a dance music video, well except for the odd close-up or group scenes where they are just being cute on the couch.. No plot, no need for bad acting or boring plot lines. This music video is fine on its own. Definitely a bright, cute and full of aegyo type of music video. Unlike Brown Eyed Girls, I can never see these girls do a very serious song like Sixth Sense.

Live Performance

Again, a great performance. It is just basically the music video live. No complaints what so ever. Well maybe the lighting. The song is meant to be cute and happy. On one of the shows, the lighting made it a little gloomy. Yes, I am trying to be picky since I have not complained about the music video or song yet.

And The Rating?

OMG. A PERFECT SONG. 10/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Touch – Miss A

Song

This is one the of the songs you first hear it and your like ughhhhh. But after hearing it for 3 times, you start to like it. I remember not being able to listen to at least 30 seconds of the song but now I can sit myself at the computer and listen to the song start to end! I really love the start of the song, It has a mysterious feel. Then the instrumental eases into the actually song which I pretty nice. I do really love the whole instrumental of the song. However Miss A’s voice, I find, really don’t go well with the song. I find Good Girl, Bad Girl; Breathe; Goodbye Baby much better songs. Their voices don’t suit this song in anyway. The rap was the only thing I nejoyed in the actual song however I still find it out of place. Not the best Miss A song I know of.

Music Video

Oh, Music Video? NO!!! At first I thought the song was bad until I saw the music video. There is one thing about this music video which I love about it: it’s atmosphere. The atmosphere is really mysterious and creepy. Also the room which the girls dance in is pretty nice and different (SM Ent., I am looking at you). This music video would have that, “If I die, lay me in a bed of roses” kind of theme to the music video which I really great. It is also great JYP Ent. can use computer graphic effects in this music video. (Sarcasm).

Why is Fei wearing headphones around her neck? That does not fit in at all! Why is that guy trying to “seduce” the members with a lot of red roses? (When I mean “seduce”, I really did not find a word that technically sounded good, so I went with seduce). Why is there random flashes when their dancing in the room? Why? Oh Why?

Live Performance

I hate their choice of clothing? I guess their dead so their wearing some kind of mummified theme clothing but it really looks like a long rubber strip wrapped around them. Not really the best clothing. If they did do a performance in their black lace dresses, then that would be better.

The dance also does not fit in. Not happy, Miss A or JYP. The dance is more of a robotic dance rather than a dance full of emotions. There is basically not emotions in the dance at all, which I find weird since the whole song is like sad a depressed. Sorry Miss A.

And The Rating?

I really want to be fair, but this song, music video & performance has not lived up to its expectations that I thought it would. 4/10. Sorry Miss A.

Have Fun Watching! Troy. 😀

Bad Boy – Big Bang

Song

At first, the teaser did not live up to the standards of Big Bang’s previous hits like Haru Haru, Lies, Love Song, Tonight, Love Song etc. However now, I love this song because I am listening it in a whole. The teaser still is boring a plain. There is nothing I can say about this song, this song does take it back to its good old days with hip hop. I quite enjoyed this song. Even though it is much different to the rest of the album, I say it is really good. Well, there is still one more complaint from me. When Taeyang sings “My La-La-Lady~”, it felt awkward and did not fit the rest of the song. Yeah, my thoughts. Don’t Kill Me.

Music Video

In Blue we see all the members have a relationship with one girl. Now in a matter of days, Big Bang is finally in a relationship again but with their own girlfriends and have also broken up with them. Question Big Bang: Why are you bad with girls? Tonight, Love Song, Blue, Bad Boy, What Can I Do, Heartbreaker, Only Look At Me. Yeah, trend going on here. I know the producers come up with a different plot each time but this trend is a bit boring for me. Same thing all over again. Now something I love about this music video. They filmed this in New York.  I really love new York. Even though I had never been there, but its scenery is pretty awesome. The whole back streets of New York setting in this music video sums up the whole music video experience. And also, it is currently nearly the end of winter there. Don’t Big Bang feel cold, especially Taeyang. The others are wearing jackets (expect Daesung. He was wearing short sleeves.). But Taeyang was wearing no sleeves at all. Poor Taeyang.

Live Performance

I am not entirely happy at all with the live performances in general. One of the stages which I’ll embed into the post below was a, I dunno, too small. Yeah, really not a good place to dance to this song. There is a lot of hand action (Insert Dirty Jokes Here) in the performance, so there is nothing to comment on.

And The Rating?

Great song, Great music video. It lives to its standards. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

Live Performance Here:

Falling – John Park

Song

This must have to be the most beautiful song so far for the year. Is this the year of the rookies? Ailee gave us a performance so good. John Park too gave us a great song. It truly can not be described with words. It makes sense. The lyrics are not beautiful. I LOVE THIS SONG. Now, to clear something up. On the table I have for my favourite 20 of the month, John’s song is pretty low. Why? Because I was under a rock. This song is like beauty. Why can’t singers be more like this when they sing?

Music Video

A great music video which connects with the title of the song. Falling. A shipping containers falling from the sky. In which a guy is in and singing to his lover. The music video is like the song. Can not be described by words. The only thing I really have to complain about with this video though is the ending of it. I really thought the ending felt plain. Also, the container had sunk really low. There is no way the container could’ve washed up on the beach. Oh well, Thank God John is okay. More songs. Yah!!!

Live Performance

No dance. No need to complain.

And The Rating?

9.5/10. Love the song, music video & performance.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy.

Heaven – Ailee

Song

I really liked Wheesung. To know that he trained this girl to be a better singer than she was on YouTube is pretty amazing. I really loved this song. It is a great example of a good song, good voice and a somewhat good rap. She is one of the best singers I have ever heard (Anyone heard her version of Halo? It is like the real thing!). She has this good voice that I think only some singers can have (I still believe BEG have these skills). Now, I am confused her. I this song, you really can’t hear her rap. I Know she can rap. They Are Coming is an excellent example of her rapping skills. I can only hear a bit of rapping just barely audible behind “Heaven, Heaven, Heaven, Heaven”. That is about it. I am really disappointed. In the YouTube description box, they wrote that this song includes a good voice and rap. Yet no rap!

Music Video

Heaven – Jesus, we get the connection. I really love the music video here. For once, there is a music video that does not cross the line. Some videos are just dodgy and don’t relate to the lyrics. This song does which is amazing. The only thing I have to say is I hate the chorus part of the video. It looks too messy in my point view. It’s too cluttered and too bright. This video is also has this really good plot in it. At first we see Ailee and the Jesus guy. We assume they are going out because of how the video portrays them and the lyrics. However towards the end, we find out that her actual boyfriend comes and that the Jesus guy is actually Jesus himself looking down at Ailee. Such a touching video.

Live Performance

I love this live performance of this song. Manly the dance. It reflects beat and have these heavenly dance moves to it. Perfect to the theme of the song.

And The Rating?

Perfect voice, song, music video & live performance. Need more rapping though. 9.5/10.

Have Fun Watching! 😀 Troy.
