As promised today, you have an album review and song review post coming you way today. In addition to those reviews, we have the Weekly KPOP Charts, which is obviously this post. I know I have been promising to catch up on some reviews that I have missed. They will eventually come, though I don’t know yet. I have been growing tired a lot earlier lately. I am also working on some other posts, such as OST reviews and International Song Reviews that should be out some time in the near future. We will see in a couple of weeks whether I have been too ambitious. But in the meanwhile, more reviews, album reviews and this Weekly KPOP Chart post!

Per the now regular format, I will quickly run through the songs that have had a big jump. The biggest jump this week belongs to J.Y Park and Sunmi’s When We Disco, which is in its final week on the charts and jumps up 41 spots. Other songs experiencing a big jump (i.e. more than 30 positions) are ONEUS’s To Be Or Not To Be and UP10TION’s Light.

For the top five this week, we start again from the bottom of the top end of the charts. WJSN CHOCOME’s unit debut single, Hmph!, debuts in the fifth position. EVERGLOW’s La Di Da rises from last week’s fifth position into this week’s fourth position. Stray Kids’ Back Door, which has been sitting on the top of the charts for three weeks now, has moved down two positions. BLACKPINK’s Lovesick Girls rises into the Top 5 into the second position this week. And the newest addition to the top ranking song of the week is Golden Child’s Pump It Up! Today, I am going to get the Weekly KPOP Charts post for this past week out early so I can focus more on the reviews that I had planned to write. A few of them are coming next week (starting Monday), so keep your eyes peeled for those. With that being said, there is a bit to get through (i.e. big jumps and Top 5 breakdown) today in this post, so let’s get moving along.

This past week has been a bit of an odd one. With the limited amount of releases (I only recorded two new chart entries this week), I ended up listening to a lot of songs that I didn’t listen to much in the previous weeks. Hence there were a lot of big jumps in the charts this week (that is, more than 30 positions). MAMAMOO’s Wanna Be Myself experienced the biggest jump this week by 54 positions. Other big jumps include Kim Sejeong’s Whale, ATEEZ’s THANXX, D1CE’s One Summer, ONEWE’s Parting, CHECKMATE’s DRUM and Bae Jin Young and Kim Yo Han’s I Believe.

For the Top 5 breakdown, we have Stray Kids’ Back Door sitting firmly in the top position for the third week in a row. They are followed by TREASURE’s I Love You, which sits in the second position for the second week in a row. Rising into the top 5 from out of the last week’s Top 30 is CHECKMATE’s DRUM, which I reviewed earlier in the week. The Boyz’s The Stealer also rises into the Top 5, though it didn’t jump as much from last week. EVERGLOW’s La Di Da drops down one position into the fifth position this week, thus completing the Top 5 this week. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Another week has gone by. It was an intense past week with multiple comebacks and debuts occuring, which is commonly expected during the week before Chuseok (or the Mid-Autumn Festivals in other countries) based on previous years. This compensates for the lack of releases during the week of the holiday as many Koreans (including some idols) return to their hometowns to be with their family. As you can tell I haven’t covered all the comebacks and debuts from the past week, so I am hoping I can use the upcoming week to catch up. It will be a mammoth task, but I am sure I can knock out a few reviews this week. In the meantime, here is the Weekly KPOP Charts for the past week.

It is time to look at the high jumps for this week. Not the sport, but the giant leaps that we can see in the Top 30. Kang Daniel’s Who U Are, Yoon Dujun’s Lonely Night (the song with the biggest jump this week), APRIL’s Now or Never and (G)I-DLE’s DUMDI DUMDI were this week’s biggest jumps this week.

With that business out of the weigh, we turn to the Top 5. Starting from the bottom of this arrangement is fromis_9’s FEEL GOOD (SECRET CODE). In the fourth position is EVERGLOW’s latest single, La Di Da. In the third position is MOONBIN & SANHA’s Bad Idea. Before we move onto the charts, I want to address a promise that I have not been delivering. Over the last few weeks, I mentioned that there are many reviews that I am catching up on and should have posted on the weekdays. Unfortunately, I have been unable to keep this promise as I have other things going on in my life that really tires me out. Plus I have to prioritize the new releases of the week. So I have decided to stop promising you reviews and I will post them as soon as possible when I have time to sit down and write them. I am mentioning this in case you are awaiting a particular review. I will update my ‘Coming Soon’ page shortly and regularly so you have an idea which reviews are coming your way!

And now, here is the brief look at the charts. Large jumps this week include Wonho’s Open Mind, LUNARSOLAR’s OH YA YA YA (both of these were reviews posted during the week), Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi’s Naughty and Song Ji Eun’s Make It Love (MIL).

As for the Top 5 this week, we have ONEUS’s To Be Or Not To Be in the top spot! It has been three weeks since the song came out. But no matter how late, it was still worthy and epic enough for the top spot! Following behind ONEUS is CRAVITY’s Flame, followed by last week’s top song, CLC’s Helicopter. It is another Sunday and it is time for the next installment of the Weekly KPOP Charts! It is going to be another quick one as I am currently drafting a number of reviews for the week and today. Today, you can expect an album review and another song review coming your way. I won’t speculate on which artists are at the centre of these posts, but I think you can work out who!

As usual over the last few weeks, here is just a quick recap of the big jumps this week. DONGKIZ’s Beautiful jumped the furthest this past week by 56 positions into ninth position this week. Other big jumps this week are Cherry Bullet’s Aloha Oe, GFriend’s Apple, Song Ji Eun’s MIL (Make It Love) and Seven O’Clock’s Hey There. Not much as the past few weeks, but still worth mentioning.

As for the Top 5 this week, we have a number new songs in the top end of the charts. Debuting in the top position this week is CLC’s HELICOPTER. TREASURE’s BOY rises to the second position this week, while KARD’s GUNSHOT (last week’s top song) dropped to the third position. It is time for the Weekly KPOP Charts for the fourth week of August 2020. It is going to be a quick one, as I want to focus on some reviews today, which I will post/schedule for this week. If you haven’t heard yet, I have decided to cancel all album reviews this weekend/week (this past Friday, the one meant to be posted today and the one on Tuesday) to catch up on these reviews. The next album review will be posted on Friday, next weekend. Apologies if you were expecting album reviews this weekend. Let’s move forward with this Weekly Chart post to get closer to those album reviews next weekend!

Firstly, the big jumps of the week. The biggest jump of the week is awarded to MCND’s nanana (which didn’t make the chart last week) jumping a whopping 66 positions! This is mainly due to the review that I published for the song during the week, but I would expect nanana to stay in the Top 30 over the coming weeks, given how much I enjoyed the song. Other songs that experienced big jumps this week include: (G)I-DLE’s DUMDI DUMDI, DONGKIZ I:KAN’s Y.O.U, THE MAN BLK’s Time Turner, Sehun’s On Me and Chungha’s Play.

And now, this week’s Top 5. Let’s start at the fifth position this week. BLACKPINK’s collaboration with Selena Gomez, Ice Cream, debuts on the charts in the fifth position. Edging ahead slightly in the fourth position is Kang Daniel’s collaboration with Jamie and Simon Dominic, Waves. In the third position, we have MCND’s nanana (with their big jump), while ONEUS’ TO BE OR NOT TO BE rises into the Top 5 and falls in into the second position this week. It is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post as we find ourselves currently on another Sunday. More specifically, we will be looking at the charts for the 3rd week of August 2020. There is a bit to go through, so I will get straight to it.

Before we proceed to the breakdown of the Top 5 and the actual Top 30 of the charts, there are a lot of big jumps this week as I catch up with the many releases that I have missed over the last few weeks (yes, the reviews are being drafted!!). The biggest jump is by EXO-SC with 1 Billion Views, which jumped a massive 52 positions. Other songs that had a massive jump (>30 positions) include Hello Stranger by Stray Kids, ONE (Lucid Dream) by Golden Child, MIL (Make It Love) by Song Ji Eun, Summer Day Summer Night by Sanduel (B1A4), Summer Breeze by SF9, Say Yes by Jeong Sewoon, Shine by F.Cuz and ULLAELI KKOLLAELI by 1TEAM.

As for the Top 5, we have a slightly different Top 5 makeup from last week. Rising into the top spot by 2 positions is Soyou’s Gotta Go. Following behind Soyou is Dream Catcher with their latest comeback that dropped this week, BOCA. Rising into the Top 5 this week is SuperM’s 100. Before we get to any further reviews, it is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart posts. These weeks just by so quickly. I don’t have much else to say this week, so why don’t we get straight into the breakdown of this week’s chart!

Before we proceed with the breakdown, I just like to highlight some of the big jumps this week. None of them were big enough to get the respective song into the Top 5, but they are pretty well deserved. I actively looked for these songs to write their respective reviews and just to give more attention to some songs that I usually would have missed. The biggest jump was by Sehun’s On Me, followed by Chanyeol’s Nothin’, both of which I reviewed for their album review I published a week ago. Other jumps include boht 1THE9’s Count and Bad Guy, Enoi’s W.A.Y, Jessi’s Nunu Nana (which I have personally been enjoying), A.C.E’s Stand By You. TXT’s Eternally, GreatGuys’ Run and ASTRO’s No, I Don’t. Check out these songs as well, as well as the Top 5 (see below)!!

(G)I-DLE’s DUMDI DUMDI, as you can tell by the featured image, rises to the top of the charts this week. JYP and Sumi’s duet, When We Disco debuts in the second position. Soyou’s catchy Gotta Go rises into the Top 5 for the first time since its release and sits in this week’s third position. The most recent rookies to make their debut this year is TREASURE and their debut single, BOY, rises to the fourth position. It is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post! This past week has been full of releases. But I took some time off during the week to focus on a few personal things. So now I am busy catching up on the reviews during the past week that I have missed as a result of my break. Coming today, alongside this post, is an album review and another song review. I want to focus on those as the day is drawing to a close soon. So let’s move along with this post to get to those other posts!

Topping the charts this week is APRIL’s Now Or Never, which was in the second position last week. Rising towards the top (but not enough to get to the number one position) are Golden Child’s June release, ONE (Lucid Dream), and TOO’s July release, Count 1, 2. Talking about more reviews, I have a few more to publish over the coming days, so keep an eye out for them! And this time they are ready to go or just need a proof read. But now, on with the charts!

Based on the image at the top of this page, you can probably already tell that Kang Daniel is in the top spot for this past week with his pre-release single, Waves, featuring Jamie and Simon Dominic. You will find APRIL following in the second position with Now or Never. GreatGuys’s Run is the only release already on the charts to enter the Top 5, with it placing in the third position this week. Today is Sunday and therefore it is time to look back on the past week via the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. It has been a relatively light week in terms of releases this week. I had plans to write reviews for some releases that I have missed out on. I even tweeted about it. I did make a start but didn’t get too far. Hopefully, I can continue into this week. Don’t worry, I will get to them eventually.

Before we get to the Top 5 and the actual charts, I would like to point out a number of big jumps on the charts this week. I like to draw attention to these as the jump signifies that the song is growing on me or attracting my attention (It may also provide evidence against my erratic listening patterns as well, but let’s not talk about that :)). The biggest jump we saw this week was GreatGuys’ RUN, which leapt a massive 59 positions from one end of the charts to the other end. Jumping 54 spots were Hwasa’s sidetrack, LMM. SF9 (Summer Breeze), Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi (Monster), BLACKPINK (How You Like That), N.Flying (Oh Really), Moonbyul (Absence), DONGKIZ I:KAN (Y.O.U) and D-CRUNCH (Perriot) also experienced big jumps.

Now with that out of the way, here is this week’s Top 5. Earlier this week, I expressed my amazement for Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi’s Naughty. And that amazement continued throughout the week, which helped land the song in the top spot this week. Following the subunit this week is last week’s number 1 song, Apple by GFriend. TOO’s Count 1,2, SF9’s Summer Breeze and WOODZ’s Love Me Harder each rose into the Top 5 this week as well. And thus, this ends the Top 5 wrap for this week. Sunday has come and it is time to look over the past week of KPOP! This segment is my ranking of KPOP songs each week, which might indicate to you what my listening patterns are. And if you are to pull anything from this segment, it is I have very erratic listening patterns. Songs charting this week probably won’t be around next week in the Top 30 but will reappear in the week after. There is some stability in some releases though. Let’s dig into the charts for the 3rd Week of July 2020 a little further.

Making its debut at the very top of the charts this week is Apple by GFriend, a common place to find GFriend’s song when they have a comeback. Falling just behind them is last week’s number one song, Left & Right by Seventeen. EXO-SC’s 1 Billion Views debuts in the third position, followed by Jeong Sewoon’s Say Yes. While we were stuck in June for a small portion of the past week, officially we just wrapped up the first week of the second half of 2020. So, welcome all to the first Weekly KPOP Charts post for the second half of 2020. And it one damn busy week with loads of comebacks. I tried my best to cover the majority of them, but I do note that I haven’t covered all of them yet. We have just completed the final week of the first half of 2020! It has been a wild ride and hopefully everything bad that has happened in the first half of 2020 will get better in the second half. We had a relatively quiet week in KPOP, with major comebacks from SEVENTEEN and BLACKPINK occurring this week. I think I mentioned last week that this past week was going to be busy. But I mucked up the weeks, as this coming week will be loaded with comebacks, such as from Sunmi, AB6IX, Hwasa, VERIVERY, Lee Jin Hyuk and many others. But before we get through to those reviews, we need to go through the Weekly KPOP Charts.

Rising to the top of the charts this week is Stray Kids’s God’s Menu. It is powerful and intense, so no wonder it is at the highest position this week. Following closely behind is SEVENTEEN’s Left & Right, which is their latest release. In the third position, we have NATURE’s Girls, which has proven to be quite a song. It has been one intense week, with big name comebacks returning over the past week. IZ*ONE, Stray Kids, Weki Meki are just part of the lineup from this week. And we are expecting another strong lineup over the next week returning to the stage, such as Seventeen and Golden Child. And you can expect the rest of the Road To Kingdom reviews that I have started to post. The next part of the review series will be published tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that. Remaining at the top of the charts from last week is WJSN’s Butterfly. The first new release of the week, Secret Story of the Swan, comes courtesy of IZ*ONE and the female grop finds their new song’s in the second position of the charts. SEVENTEEN’s My My rises to the third position, ahead of their comeback tomorrow. Stray Kids make a strong impression with God’s Menu and find themselves in the fourth position, while Weki Meki’s Oopsy completes the Top 5 for this week.
