Message – MYNAME

Song

Woah, was I blown away with this song? Yes. This has to be one of the best songs sang this year for a debut single. It is very professional. At first this song was really weird for me cause this song was about a message and sounded a lot like a EPIC FAIL song (Facebook Official). However it grew on me and now I like it. I would categorize this as an electopop song cause of its electric beat and tune. The chorus here is really good. Very catchy. Also the start of the song which was like “Yololololol. OhOhOhOhOh.” was really good.

English

Now there really isn’t much English in this song, just the odd few lines. However, they pronounce Message differently to us. They pronounced as “Mess-i-gee”.

MV

ARGHHHH!!!! THE BOX CONCEPT AGAIN. However the lightning makes the music video balanced and really the box concept really isn’t show able.

Live Performance

WOW. The dance is really difficult. First your lying on the ground, doing scissor kicks and c-walking (?), next minute your standing up and jumping. Yes, you may think it is easy but with the extra odd dance moves, you probably need more than a few people and made extra hands to tangle you out of this mess.

And Rating?

Whoses kidding. 9/10. Great song, dance moves and music video.

Mona Lisa – MBLAQ

Song

Spanish Feel. That basically sums up the song. This whole song has that feel. Well except for that part – “everybody on the left, Everybody on the right, Everybody, everybody in the house say”. I am not sure about this but the song has an exotic feel to it but with one line, it gives me an impression of a party song like Party Rock Anthem. Beside that though, the song was great.

English

There is nothing to say with the English here. All good.

MV

Time to criticize the fashion. Now there is nothing wrong about the music video. Its like a normal KPOP music video. However, WTF is Thunder wearing? Are those laces? Seriously, who does that? What guy wears laces as a shirt and pants? That is totally embarrassing. As soon I saw those hideous laces I refreshed and clicked back on my web browser to just be sure I clicked on the right video.

Live Performance

Now I have to say the music video does not have the box concept but however the live performance does and totally ruined the song for me.The dance is really creative and makes the song really upbeat.

Anything Else

“Everybody on the left, everybody on the right, everybody in the house say LaLaLaLa Oh LaLaLa”. LOL.

And the rating

Good song and and it was the first song I heard from them so yeah. 8/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

The Boys – Girl’s Generation (Kor. Ver.)

This review will basically will be the same as the English Review (Click Here) so some parts may be copied and pasted. However I have noticed a few extra things while watching the music video. So here we go.

Song

The song is basically like the English version but some parts in Korean while the chorus remains the same. While the song in the Korean sounded a bit weird since I got used to the English version, I found that it had a flow to it. The English Version sounded a bit like dead zombies when I compared to it. However I do prefer the English Version of the Korean. LOL, its because I can understand a KPOP song for once.

English

Ah, at least this version does not need criticisms over “Call an emergency” LOL.

Music Video

The Music Video here is exactly the same as the English Version (which I have linked above) however I did noticed a few things. According to what I know, diamonds can not float and therefore this can not be happening –

Hmmm. And that dove with no symbolism which is floating in slo-mo? They film as if the dove actually fell to the ground and to save time and money they slow the dove down so it look like the dove can actually fly. I know it sounds weird but its my thinking. And I think weird…

Live Performance

Same as always. Check out the English version article. It is linked above.

Anything Else

Lose the “Box concept” please.

And Rating?

Not the best, could have been improved —-> 5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😈

Shake It Up – Seo In Guk

Song

This must be the most catchiest song ever in 2011. A party/dance track that does not exceeds its boundaries and make it into an annoying song. I can literally imagine this song at a KPOP-themed party playing and everyone dancing to it. Seo In Guk has a great energy when it comes to singing thses kinds of song however I prefer him singing RnB than these party mixes.

English

Not much to say about the English in this song, it is pretty good.

MV

Indoor party, other celebrities welcomed. Stay away balloons. Bring out the music. Its party time. The music video fits in with the song but when T-Ara’s JiYeon appearing out of the TV really did not. But beside that, I think the music video is fine.

Live Performance

The dance of this song is really what I did not think of. I thought of shuffling at one moment but when I saw the music video there was not much shuffling  in it. Anyway, but all of the moves on stage could always be pulled off at a party.

Anything Else

I would like to listen to more songs that have a happy feel. I think Seo In Guk sings a bit too much of sad & depressing songs.

And Rating?

Great Song —–> 9/10

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

The Boys – Girls Generation (Eng. Ver)

Okay, this is the first song to be chosen by you guys. It was hard to choose between them. Anyway, onto the review.

Song

Now as this states, I will be reviewing the English version of the song. I may do the Korean Ver. tomorrow or sometime during the next 4 days (Long Weekend). I only have 3 letters to say. WTF????? What is this? Is this Girl’s Generation? Like, who would do such a thing. They have great songs like Gee, Hoot, Genie, Oh. But The Boys is really is not a great song however a crappy song. I don’t want to be mean but the song just is not really that catchy and is not really that good. Please bring them back next time with a better song!

MV

I sense a lot of criticism with this area. However I have to say they look stunning  in everything they wear. But hell does SM Ent. have to lose the “box concept”. All they added this time was snow, rose petals and a big diamond in the background. Oh yeah, the dove ruined it for me. Why would they introduce such an animal to the music video. What is it meant to represent? Now I don’t have anything against animals just the dove has no meaning to this music video.

I also prefer the music video teaser. They were much better then the music video itself. It looked cool. The music video of=n the other hand was just boring and a waste of time.

English

Woah, the English? Must I even get started on this? I don’t wanna. I can tell you my contention with the English. “Call an emergency.”

Live Performance

With that said, the live performance is not that much different to the music video. The only difference is that it is live. The dance was pretty cool, especially the chorus and the “Girls, Bring the Boys out” part. But yeah, Box concept all over again.

Anything Else

*Shakes Head* It could’ve been way better.

And the rating

Not the best, could have been improved —-> 5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

For some reason, The English version is moving over to a Vevo account and is blocked im Australia. So I have linked the Kor. Ver instead.

Mr. Taxi – Girl’s Generation

Song

Now this song is definitely a very catchy one. To me the Japanese Version (which I am reviewing) is flows much more than the new Korean Version featured in Girl’s Generation’s newest album. It is or their voices kind of hold back the energy when they sing this song in Korean but when they sing in Japanese the song is easily delivered and sounds really nice.

English in the Song

The English in the song is used in a very high standard and since the song goes well with the English lyrics, I have to reason to say they have bad English.

MV

SM Ent. is starting to get on my nerves with their music videos. They should really leave the concept “THE BOX” and actually think outside of one for once. Sorry Sorry, Bononma, Mr. Simple, Hoot, Genie, Danger, Get Your Head Down and many other songs who are under SM Ent. are filmed in this “box”. Its not creative anymore and looks very dull. This music video shows this again. A box with the singers in it. I am not really happy with the music video.

Live Performance

The Live Performance is really good. It allows them to escape the box concept. The dance is very creative. The stirring wheel, the “I-will-clean-your-windows” and many other dance moves which I obviously dubbed names for go really well with the song.

Anything Else

I’ve think I said it all. LOL.

And Rating?

Well I think I have said enough. Yes, I am shutting myself up. The rating I would give this song is definitely a 8.5/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 🙂

Going Crazy – Song Ji Eun ft Bang Yong Gook

Song

This song is a really strong, dominant song. Even though some people may say that girls can’t express their voice like a male can, I think they can and Song Ji Eun is a prefect example of who. Bang Yong Gook’s rap also adds more to the song and makes it more better than others. It is very dominant and should be more known. Such a song, should be one of the best songs of all time.  Now because of this song and his debut single (I Remember featuring Yang Yoseob of BEAST) he is dubbed as the 2nd TOP. I actually believe that Bang Yong Gook is much better in than TOP when they compete against ballads.

English in the Song

Now the song has a few English lyrics in it and technically there is nothing wrong with it.

MV

Now, there two music videos which were kind of made for this. The first one I am going to discuss is the official music video. This one really does not see the image and the tune of the song but shows girl power and the harm girls can inflict on boys. Tying a guy up, chucking him in a boot and then setting him a light is pretty mean and I would not be surprised if the song received a ban by the MOGEF in Korea. So yeah not really impressed about the actual music video.

Stage Performance

Now the stage performance is what I actually liked more. In particular a performance where Bang Yong Guk is really a stalker and stalks Song Ji Eun. This performance, I should say, portrayed the song much better than what the music video did and I believe this performance should be replace to current music video. *Sigh*

Anything Else:

This song was a great way to start a solo debut for the two singers. I believe that these two should meet up again soon and do another song. To be honest, I don’t think I would ever get tired about this song and would actually give to others. bang Yong Guk’s new boy-band would be debuting soon, even though no exact date yet. I am going to be anticipating their debut and can’t wait for more songs from the two.

And the Rating?

Now to rate this song, I would give it a 10/10. I think I have been too generous with many people when rating a song but I actually find this song one of the most prefect ever.

Have fun watching!!!! :) Troy.

This is the performance:

This is the actual music video:

Baby Don’t Cry – Daesung

(Lately its been getting really awkward on how I start my blog posts. I was rereading some and they felt so weird. So from now on I am going to put sub headings and write under each. Hopefully it will make my posts much more organized)

Song

Wow, I love this song. Though it sounds really tragic but at the same time it sounds calm and relaxing (or is that how I feel when Daesung sings?). The tune of the song sounds pretty cool I have to say and technically I did not question myself about the song or the vocals. While we are on vocals, he sounds amazing as always.

English in the Song

Now, its YG guys. There is nothing wrong with their English. Nothing at all. LOL. I guess that’s why you hire an American producer to correct  the lyrics and make sure it makes sense.

MV

There is no music video for this song, but I can tell you, this song needs a music video. DAESUNG NEEDS A MUSIC VIDEO YG!!!!!!

Stage Performance

Now to date there is only one stage performance I know of and it will be linked at the end of this post. I think this song was very perfected on stage. However, Daesung looks really hesitant about releasing his energy at the start and then at the end it came out so fast and kind of made the performance suck. I don’t really want to be mean but he had so much energy building up in his body that it was like ruined the ending. I hope you get what I mean.

Anything Else:

YG!!! LISTEN TO ME!!! DAESUNG NEEDS A MUSIC VIDEO AND A MINI ALBUM. HE IS TOO GOOD. JUST LET HIM DO HIS STUFF AND WE WILL ALL BE HAPPY!!!!!! (I did not want to be aggressive). On the side note, It was really sad to hear that Daesung was involved in a car accident. It was also sad to hear that someone had to die for a result of this and I hope Daesung is much better. Can’t wait for a new Big Bang Album next year.

And the Rating?

This song was very well polished and Daesung needs much more recognition for his work other than Big Bang and a lousy stage performance. An Album and MV would suit our fitting! Anyway to rate this song —-> 9.5/10

Have fun watching!!!! 🙂 Troy.

Like The Birds – FT Island

Okay, this song is really calm and peaceful to listen into Spring ( or Autumn, if your in the Northern Hemisphere). It is very refreshing however  the music video does not reflect the tune or rhythm of the song. The desert is a place that is very dry, hot and isolated. this songs sounds like calm, cool, connected song.

I also did not realize that this song was a remake of another song. If i had not read that, I would’ve thought this was their actual song that they wrote. They are that professional, it does not sound like a remake at all. Now there was controversies with the Jeep (?) that they were using, the owner had agreed but withdrawn it from the filming. Seriously mate, if i had a car, i would have given them it. Your car is in a music video. You should be happy.

Again with the desert theme, I really don’t like the fact that they are playing in a desert. It isn’t that cool.  However I do like the old, untouched, abandoned house concept they had at the start. It was very fresh and actually looked professional then those high-tech visual effects that make the music video boring by rival artists.

Okay to rate this song and music video (which I always do) I would give it a 8/10. It was stunning however I don’t really like remakes. Unless I loved the original song or movie. Anyway, FIN.

Love Is Move – Secret

Now I don’t really know what to say about this song. It’s not good or bad. It’s just the middle. I am thankful they got rid of their cute/aegyo image from Shy Boy and Starlight Moonlight and went back to their girl power/sexiness image. Apparently this music video was inspired by Betty Pop. Is that how you spell it? I don’t know. There is not much of a reference towards the cartoon character but she was known to be sexy and that is what Secret has brought out.

Now I really like the start of the song. As soon as the song starts you hear music that you can relate to the surf or something like Abanibi. (For those who don’t know Abanibi, It is a very famous song which was a chart topper sang by Izhar Cohen who was an Israelite.) I absolutely loved the Vietnamese Version of Abanibi (Yes, I am Vietnamese) by Tommy Ngo and Lynda Trang Dai –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQaPQo57tM4&feature=BFa&list=FL-0fFFzsJwH4ZTnBFuHXZ0w&lf=mh_lolz This video also throughout changed itself to those boring dance movies like Footloose and Hairspray. *Shivers*

I do also like the C’mon, C’mon part and the choreography is amazing. They were bouncing most of the time especially throughout the chorus. The dance movies were pulled off very well and the moves actually tied in with the music. They also look stunning. I loved what they wore in Magic & Madonna and they look stunning here as well.

Anyway, this song is not that addictive like, let say, SNSD’s Hoot or 2NE1’s I AM THE BEST. But it now stands as a major competitor against these top girls bands if they keep singing these cool types of songs. Anyway I have to rate now, or I never will —> 7.5/10.

Indifferent Love – Fat Cat

Okay, there isn’t much to say about this song as there is no music video. Hmm.. save me from criticizing the song and letting me print off my essay for school. (Only Joking). This was a great song for a debut. And like any singer who debuts with a high, electropop song, their next song is gonna be a depressing song. (Only Joking again). I have no idea why I wrote that!

I have to say, she looks stunning in her red hair. I have to also say this song is a very good song to have on at this time of the year with Halloween coming up. You can imagine a black cat singing this song can’t you?

There is a massive flaw in this song. There are a lot of English and Korean right? Well, most of the English does not make sense. “Luv holic fallin’ that’s me love me boy za”, “The holic holic fallin fallin that’s me thats me love me baby” & “shining star no more super star”. What sense does this make. Whats a Loveholic falling? Who would love a falling loveholic? Holic is not even a word. Most of the sites I have been to for the lyrics and the live performances on Inkigayo, Music Core, Music Bank etc. have stated that holic is a wrod. Holic is not a word but only a suffix(Thank You dictionary.com).

Anyway enough said. I have an essay to print and dinner is waiting for me. Good song for a debut, nice red hair (-.- no that type). 8/10.

They Are Coming – Wheesung

“Awkward position, don’t you think Wheesung?”

This song is absolutely awesome. Wheesung’s voice + RnB song = a song everyone must hear. It is very dominating especially Wheesung’s voice. It is very relaxing in my point of view as well but also a very tragic song.

Now the plot of the music video is not that clear. A guy loves this girl and the girl abandons him. He soon realizes that there are people after him and would attack his ex. He goes and save her and while they try to escape they are attacked. The girl does not want to leave with the guy so she stays back, telling the guy to go on. Maybe she is going to hold the attackers up, no one knows. No one knows her fate, but I think possibly dead with all the gunshots. However many unexplained sections of the story I don’t much understand.Whose the guy? Why did the girl stay back? Why when he looks into a mirrior he is wearing a suit? Is he the bad or a good guy?

Now I did say this before. The voice is very dominating and actually emits emotion through the tone and pitch of his voice. The girl at the start who raps, is his actual trainee Ailee. She is better than most rappers who I listen to (But not as good as Eminem) and her voice is really fitted into RnB songs. I would like to see more of her. Here is her cover of Halo by Beyonce –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfeQXZRhvRc&feature=related .

Okay, to rate this song –> I’d be kidding myself if I would not given this song a 10/10. So I am going to give it a 10/10.

Midnight Circus – Sunny Hill

“Midnight Circus, Riddle Me OMO. Midnight Circus, Riddle Me OMO.”

I have to say this is one the best songs ever written and sung on stage. There is no better song than this. I believe Sunny Hill is one of the best artists ever because they sing in a very mysterious and creepy way that does not have a prefect feel to it when others sing it.

Now I love a good mystery and this definitely had my thumbs up. Now the plot is kind of complex to figure out. So here it is. It took me ages to figure it out. An old man has been taken by the evil ringmaster who had previously transformed 4 girls from a cat, bird and 2 horses (or is the white one a unicorn?). Now he is told to play the accordion for the performance. However as the Music Video progresses, the Old Man regains his memory of his pasts. Not wanting to be known the ringmaster and his circus slowly disappears and the old man is safe again. However there are underlying messages to the viewers in this music video. I am going to only tell one. This video aims to those who have been controlled for their life. This tells them to break away from the “controller” and live life. That’s right. The ringmaster is like the puppeteer and the girls are the puppets.

Anyway, you think this is weird. You have not seen the Backup dancers yet, have you? Its me or are they wearing stockings around their head? (On closer inspection, i figured out that they had a lot of make up on. Well it’s not that bad. 2pm was worse)  Not sure about the symbolism there but it must signify something right? Or is it a wardrobe malfunction? More Mystery?

^(Whoever wrote that is such a loser)

LOL. This song is really good. Not only do they have a great instrumental but also a great meaning behind the video. Anyway to rate this video i would give it a 9.5/10.

Last Farewell / Baby Baby – Big Bang

Okay, I am going to review to songs at once. Both are the same song but one is in Korean and the other is English. I am going to say something about the start of the song where they are doing the chanting in both of the songs, You can only faintly hear the ‘G’ and the Bang Bang is not really pronounced correctly. They are kind of saying something like ‘Down Down’.

Now this song is like a hardcore dance music. I can seriously imagine a hardcore dance routine to this but again also the song is meant to be about a guy who realizes the girl left him for another. In other words, romance. However in my point of view the plot/theme of the song doesn’t go well with the beat. Its like Heaven by Dj Sammy, I prefer the classical/acoustic version but not the actual version. Maybe it is just me and my liking.

Anyway I thing I want to touch on, the song does not flow and is kind of tight in my point of view for the English version. It doesn’t have the same feel like the Korean version for some reason. I do like the English version of the song though because I can understand them. However when Big Bang does an English version, it doesn’t sound has professional as a normal Korean soundtrack or song would.

Also, ‘BASS’. It is so freaking annoying to have something like this. What does this have to do with the song. It goes with the beat but doesn’t comprehend with the rest of the lyrics. It like they just added a random word to the song to make it better? No It can’t be. WHY BIG BANG?

Anyway to rate this lovely song, I have to give 2 different rating since they are actually 2 different songs.

Last farewell – 8.5/10

Baby Baby – 8/10

Run Away – Wei Chen ft. Lee Joon & Thunder of MBLAQ

Now there is no music video for this however this is one of the songs that I really love from this year. Okay Wei Chen is mandopop singer which really isn’t known for in the KPOP industry however this is he debut single (according to Wikipedia, Don’t know why get my information from there). Now this song consist of English music videos which blend in with the Korean lyrics in my point of view.

This is a song that I would give to someone who wants to listen to KPOP for the first time. It has English lyrics that are easy to understand and reflects the Korean lyrics making it much easier to understand. Now there is nothing to say about this song other than the lyrics. There is simply no music video, plot, or even cheography. However if they did have one, I think it would easily be boring.

With nothing else to say, I give this song a rating of 10/10. Great Debut song, Hope to see you on stage in the future.

Starlight Moonlight – Secret

Hmmm… I am always repetitive when I do posts. LOL. This is a brand new concept which really to me doesn’t fit their image. I prefer Secret in Madonna & Mazic (or is it Magic). Starlight Moonlight ans Shy Boy are just too cheesy for me. I prefer Mazic and Shy Boy because it showed girl power. While this is too much directed at guys.

Anyway, I don’t get the plot of the music video. It doesn’t make sense. Why is the janitor part of this? Keep cleaning man and I have to say he is very clumsy. Image what he does mopping the floor with a bucket water next to him. Awkward. Anyway also they look like they are at a train station or some kind of harbor, but then they board a hot air balloon. After that they end up in a place that kind of resembles another planet or some kind of exotic rainforest which human life have not found let.

Anyway their dresses look kind of awkward in this video. As I said, I prefer the dress they wore in Madonna and the casual clothing they wore in Mazic. it was more neat and had less effort needed for their image. But they still looked great.

The song though is very catchy and so is the choreography. It is smart and actually blends in with the music. The dance moves are not even bias towards a specific gender. HaHaHaHaHa.

To give a rating of this song, Personally I would give it a 5.5/10. Please go back to your previous image. 😀
