One Summer Night – Brown Eyed Girls

Fan-boy mode on. Fan-boy mode off. I was totally happy when Brown Eyed Girl’s announced that they were going to have a comeback. Though this song is not what I have been expecting, I am still loving this song. It is a very summery song and sounds very fresh. It’s not a typical ballad. It’s tone is quite cheerful and happy. Normal ballads are sad or tells a sad story.

This song retells a story of a girl who falls in love with a guy at midnight. That I found pretty cute. I love how each of the singers display such good voices for such a song. I also love Miryo’s rap. It is not upbeat or dramatic like Abracadabra or Sixth Sense, but quite soft and calm. It is not fierce like their last 4 songs. This is more of laid-back kind of song, which sounds really good.

Music Video

This music video is really good as well. Normally I get really confused and start noticing things that I should never notice. But this music video is really cool and laid-back as well. You can get into the feel of the video or the flow of it quite easily. There is no need to go “Oh, what is that?” or “What is happening here in this scene?”

Basically, this video is about a person (Narsha) who looks back at another’s (Jea) story. The person look’s at the pictures drawn in a book, which actually allows them to look back and recount or retell the story. The young girl  falls in love with another guy (by ordering him to hang out with her or maybe not). They go the beach and then to the market. On the way to somewhere the girl becomes injured (aka. a small cut on her foot). The guy becomes awkward around her, but piggy backs her to the Ferris wheel. Then they fall in love. The girl kisses the guy and both become lovers. Back to the present, Jea turns up and takes the book away from Narsha. She turns angry at Narsha for taking her book. We then find out the young girl in the book is actually in fact Jea. For those who don’t know, Jea is wearing the same necklace which the guy had handed the girl in the past. Also the book also contains written lyrics. Only Jea in the whole group writes up and composes music (like for example, this song here). And why else would she become overprotective of the book if it was not hers?

That is what I think happened, and it pretty much make sense. I don’t see the plotline where some people have mentioned to me “The young girl is Narsha and Jea took Narsha’s lover.” There is no evidence whatsoever ever of that in the video.

10/10. The song sounds like perfrection to my ears.

This song totally rocks. There is nothing wrong with this song. Just because there are some pronunciation errors in the song and just a little too much auto tune (by a little, I mean a lot), this song is still really good. I actually prefer the live performance better than the actual song itself, just the performance is too short compared to the actual song. I really loved how most of the chorus is English and just a few lines is in Korean, which is kind of astand out for me. Most song’s chorus are mainly Korean or a mixture of both. This however has both mainly English and a small sprinkle of Korean. Really good song. Impressed with that really high (or not so high) note at the end.

Music Video

There is not really much to say about the music video. It’s just them dancing or those close-up shots again. Just that light behind the girls after the 1st chorus was kind of distracting for me. But beside that there really is not much to say. Dance was pretty good. Those wings looked beautiful and the optical illusion at the end for the close up shots looked pretty good.

Live Performance

I am quite impressed by that high note at the end. Pretty good. Also that Helicopter hand motion dance for the chorus was pretty good. Wait… Pretty awesome. I tried doing the dance move, but failed. Watched the girl’s tutorials but still failed. But beside that awesome choreography.

And The Rating?

9.5/10. Hell of a good song. Just there was too much auto tune in the whole song.

What a freaking good song to get summer started! It is so good. I definitely recommend this song to anyone who wants a new song or album in their collection. Its very sexual but at the same time catchy. The beat is very addictive. I ereally like the small whispers which are in the background asking you “Are You Ready?”. Every time I hear that, I yell “Hell Yeah”. The chorus is really catchy as well, which makes it more appealing.

For some reason, I think it is kind of similar to Twinkle, by TAETISEO (SNSD’s SUBUNIT). Twinkle was more of a happy yet 80’s-ish song in a way, while this song I found quite similar but more of a late 90’s, early 00’s type of song. That is a lot of numbers for just one song.

Now, this is where most of the juices of the whole review are coming from.

1. The guys are pervert. Even if I had a freaking hot neighbour or crush next door, I would not really go to their windows and perve on them. You know? (FYI: The guys are pretty lame dancers. And guess what. I thought I was lame.)

2. G.Na has some kind of problem where she can’t dress herself. This was clearly shown in Top Girl but now also 2HOT.

3. Ummm.. Last time I checked, if there was a fire, you are meant to leave the building straight away. Not actually stand there and flirt or turn on the fire-fighters.

4. Why does the club looks like a deserted place. Behind the camera, there is like nobody. It’s like everyone is trapped in a corner.

Live Performance

I was only notified about the “kiss” that happened on stage with G.Na and one of her back-up dancers, which was a female. All I have to say is that, the camera was shooting from a wrong angle, at the very moment. But beside that, I loved the dance.

And The Rating?

9/10.

I absolutely love this track. It is really summery and very fresh. I really love all of the members in this song. Alone did something to their voices and they all sounded the same. Loving U changed this and I can now tell which singer is singing which part. I particularly love the first part of the chorus as it was so catchy. I found the rap pretty cute and nice. Basically I found whole song pretty nice. Nothing to complain about. I think I am starting to be a fan of Sistar.

There really is not much to complain about this video. It’s just the girls on a vacation. Also at the same time, having a bit of fun and filming their music video. I love this. It is more like a fan service video than anything else. So yeah, not much to say.

Live Performance

I love the dance in this song. It matches the cute tone of the song and is easy going and quite slow. I enjoyed watching the girls dance. It was much different from their sexy but alone concept. I think they just realized they all had each other. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

And The Rating?

Ummm.. Ya!! 10/10. Is it too obvious. Loved every aspect of their song. Congratulations to Sistar’s first Loving U win on Music Bank.

Hello & Goodbye – MYNAME

Even though they are a rookie group, I really like them. I loved their song Message and now this song has infiltrated my mind. Hello & Goodbye has this really addictive ring especially where they sing “Hello & Goodbye“. I found this to be quite addictive, as every time I come across the words Hello and Goodbye in my life those two words ring in my head, the exact same way as they had sung it. I really like the calmness of the song, as the lyrics down sound quite powerful, which is kind of different. I also like how they keep all their energy in and release towards the end, as it is quite unique. I like how the rap is not as fast paced as other raps, but not as slow as if you think the rapper is actually talking to you. The vocals were quite good. I was impressed with the long, high note at the end.

Now this is interesting. The guy I am assuming is a part of the Mafia or something similar. He meets the Mafia boss’ daughter or girlfriend. Both develop a crush over each other. The girl asks the guy for a dance, which the Mafia guy lets. When she wants to go public about their relationship, the Mafia guy gets jealous and kidnaps the girl. The guy then fights for the girl, but then the girl dies. The guy also gets shot by the Mafia leader, which should kill him.

Now I don’t get why the Mafia guy got jealous. He gave the girl away to the lead. Is he really that jealous? Is he really that stupid to “lend” a girl to another guy and then become jealous in like less than a day? Really stupid leader.

I did like the violin segment towards of the music video, because it made it more dramatic.

Live Performance

I liked the dance, but at the same time felt it was unappealing. It matched the beat, but really did not portray the same amount of emotion as like the music video did.

And The Rating?

I’d give it a 7.5/10. Really good song. and alright music video and performances.

So It’s Only Hard For Me – M.I.B

I had a mixed reaction to this song. Its beat was really good but also quite simple, but the vocals were a bit unappealing. Did anyone get that as well? I dunno.I felt bad if I gave this song the thumbs down, but also too generous if I gave the song the thumbs up. I did not like the actual start of the song, but as soon as the chorus I felt the song kind of had a sudden boost which was good because if the song was indeed like the start of the song I would have been bored to death. Literrally.

It was plain. Just filmed the artist walking down streets and filmed them also posing on walls of the back street. Nothing that appealing and interesting. I think GDM and Celebrate were quite interesting music videos (with Celebrate, I think it was the really crappy graphics that were used that appealed me to the video). Beside that…..

Live Performance

Yes, boring as well. Not really interesting is it. I did however watch one of their performance (which I may not link at the bottom, depending the first one I find) where they are meant to be wearing the LED jackets. Not impressed. No LED jackets were used at all. Expected too much.

And The Rating?

This must be the shortest review ever for me. 6/10. So close to being a 5, but I felt nice.

Now, at first I did not like this song. And now for some reason, I enjoy listening to this song. I found the beat to be quite weird at first, but now I find relaxing and really catchy. I really want to know what had happened. Why did my liking just change?

I find the vocals in here quite nice and the raps too. The highlight of the song for me was the very start of the song.

To be honest, I have not touched the music video at all. Surprise, Surprise. I have watched the teasers which has given me a glimpse of what the music video is like. Dancing in a room full of cubes and one of the members wet, in a bathtub. which is for some reason located in the middle of the room, at a very weird angle. It is also full of water. I really don’t understand KPOP videos when it comes to bathtubs.

After watching the music video: WTH?

The plot was quite confusing. Really. I can tell it is about a group of guys who want to be with the girl they want, but she does not want them. So they fight? Bathe? Dance in puddles? To me, even though I never have been in a relationship, that girl is not for keeping. If you try to be kind to her which I think they have been with letters and meeting up with her in car parks, and she does not want to be with you, why bother. If probably take notice of you after a while, or fish for more in the sea. There are always more fish in the sea.

But at the end, the whole paragraph I wrote up there may have just disappeared. Not cool mate. Seriously are they ghosts or are they actually real living people? She had physical contact with them before, but now they disappeared?

As you can tell I am very confused.

Live Performance

I guess the best thing of the whole song is how orignal the actual dance is. It flows. No rough ends. I also find the dance throughout the whole song quite addictive. So yeah. YAY DANCE!

And The Rating?

I’d give this song a 7.4/10. Not really that good in terms of the music video. I did kind of liked the song but really enjoyed the dance.

Sorry But I – C-Real

C-Real must be one of the most underrated groups ever. This song definitely proves so. Though this song contains no rap compared many of the good songs that are out there, this song totally rocks. Listening to this song is quite soothing. Its quite catchy and is really good.

The vocals in this song are quite good. All the members poured their emotions into the song which most of us can actually see in the song. After No No No No No and Joma Joma, Sorry But I is a really good song.

Music Video

In my point of view, the music video is quite confusing. Either the girls have someone else which they want to be with, or that the girls are not interested in the guys they are currently with. At the start you can see thatall the couples are playing playfully with each other. But after a while, the guys freeze, allowing the girls to sing and leave the guys. They all meet up and walk down a road which has a dead end. DFunnily enough when thr girls reach the dead end, they look lost. Why? Look at the sign. “Dead End Road NO Turn Around.”

I’m sorry what?  I think the sign should be saying. “Dead End. Turn Around”. No wonder they look lost just by turning around. But after that, they return to their boyfriends, knowing that they won’t be happy, but it is the only way.

Sexy, Free & Single – Super Junior

Let’s get something straight forward. I like this song much more than Mr. Simple and A-Cha. This song is like the times better than the last two promoted songs.

Anyway, this song totally rocks. The beat is quite good and I found it quite easy to get into it. I really like the vocals in this song, particularly Yesung and Kyuhyun’s voice cause they stood out the most. I am not sure about the rap of the song. Was there a rap? I’m can’t decide if the song actually had a rap in it. Half of me yes, the other half is not.

I really like the chorus of the song where the instrumental is like hands clapping and they are singing “Sexy, Free, Single”. It is quite unique.

Some points that I hated, was in fact the start of the song. Really did not flow with the rest of the song, though it did somehow connect with the actual song. Also, “Sexy, Free & Single. I’m ready to bingo” makes no sense what so ever.  The actual lyrics were “Sexy Free & Single. I’m Ready too, Bingo.” which does kind of make sense but all I hear is  “Sexy, Free & Single. I’m ready to bingo“.

Music Video

Another letdown. Another boring room with boring things in it. It looks tall at least. Reports said that matrix cameras were used in the filming of this music video. It is true that they did use the camera but in an awful manner. The ending was quite terrible (where the matrix cameras were used).

And how many costume changes did these guys go through? At one point Sungmin had a scarf on. Then Kyuhyun’s close-up, and then poof it was gone. And those terrible costumes for the close up shots. No, I don’t want to see people half-naked, where their necks are covered, to the point where talking in those looks really uncomfortable.

Live Performance

The dance is very unique. Just it really does not really have any match to the title of the song. Sexy is portrayed through the clothing and costumes of the singers, but where does the free & single part come into the dance. There was not much proof as well in the music video for the same reason. But beside that the dance for this song, really matched the beat of the song.

And The Rating?

I’d give this song a 9/10. I am quite happy with this song,as they really had really bad songs last year.  But are you already to bingo?

Baby Goodnight – B1A4

Okay, I really don’t like this song. Cutesy boy is not a way to go for me. This song was kind of a let down, since all the other songs sung by B1A4 had really good vocals. Here, its just a bunch of guys being held back. I do like the change since it is a repackaged album, but Baby Goodnight really is not “the” change B1A4 needed. They had a really serious song as their first promotional track, but a cutesy boy aegyo kind of song for the repackage album. I would compare them to other artists, but it is not worth it.

The rap is okay and vocals are pretty good. Just really unsure about the chorus. What they put in for O.K., Beautiful Target, Only Learnt The Bad Things and Baby I’m Sorry is missing in this particular song.

Music Video

The music video is pretty colourful. I have to say this. And the plot of the music video made everyone go WHAT? The whole music video is about cheating, not loving your actual girlfriend as specified in the teaser, which makes me fell like I belong here. I am quite gullible and so are the many KPOP fans. LOL.

There was also that twist at the end. We know the guys are cheating on their girlfriend (notice that there is no pural) or is it just CNU cheating on his girlfriend? I really don’t know. Well it shows us that the girl ends up cheating on CNU/guys as well. However, would it not be obvious if the girl is cheating on her boyfriend/s, when they are oh so close to each other. Where the whole music video is set, is actually a small western cowboy themed town, where all the buildings are named after the members. Yep. Pretty sad. Anyway.

Live Performance

This dance is pretty cutesy as well. So it is not of much to my liking.  But I have to say something. Boots and shorts do not mix well together at all. Disgusting. Disgraceful.

And The Rating?

7/10. Not like the other songs which I liked. I found this song just average.

Bounce – JJ Project

I have been dying to review this song and now that I am OMFG!!!! I really love this song. It really is a great song that really does stand out from the rest. It really catchy beat and the really good rap and vocals. Oh and the chorus. It was like JYP chucked a load of English terms into one song, making it all sense and letting everyone’s jaw drop. As soon as I heard this song, I fell straight into its groove and beat. Jb and Jr are two very talented young men. If they keep on trying different genres, I think they would succeed. From what I know, there is a bit of rock and electro-pop into this song, which is pretty unique. I just want to say and it has been a while since I last watched the video, but the subtitles made no sense at all. Or was that another video? (If it is, then it would be very awkward right now.)

Ummm… I really liked the music video. Expect for a small bit which kind of makes me look weird in a way. Is there a camera man in the music video? I think there is:

There is a camera man in the music video. Now I can see if he director made a mistake, but shouldn’t the editor surely picked up on this lonesome person in the corner. He  must have right?Look at UKISS’ video. AJ punched Kevin in the face. The editor there probably got sacked and another person got the job. seriously, while everyone has fun, there is a cameraman in the shot, just doing his job. How sad.

Oh and another thing about the music video. Newest fashion piece in the KPOP industry. All the stars are wearing this to the next red carpet: 

Imagine getting his head out this one. And I am talking about the cone head one. Not the actual stars of the video. Just the really smart person, who go a witches hat (cone) stuck on their head. Yay!!! Beside those two points, I really liked the music video. It was pretty good.

I enjoyed the dance for this song. It was energetic and quite fun to dance along with. The lyrics matched the dance literally (Like Wonder Girl’s Like This). Their heads bounced, when they were singing “Bounce, Bounce” and they shook their asses when they sang “Shake It, Shake It for me”. Not erotic at all. However the dance sequence at the end, kind of ruined the song, because it did not show much of the talent in of the artists. Though it looks hard, I expected something more from the guys at the end.

And The Rating?

8.66666/10. Yeah, cameraman. Not blaming it on you. Blaming it on the editing.  I don’t like a cameraman in the video. On in Behind The Scene footage.

Bad Boy – Baek Ji Young ft Junhyung (Beast)

I really like this song. Even though its lyrics do try to defame my gender, I find the song quite enjoyable to listen to. I actually don’t like the fact that some “organizations” are complaining about the lyrics and the fact that this song should be banned. A few words: Shut Up, there are songs that defame girls, yet do any female “organizations” complain? Most of the guys a part of the organizations are wimps. That’s all what I am going to say.

This song has a catchy beat and I really found the rap quite a really good part of the song. Even though it is not a dominate part of the whole song, it does stand out.

I don’t really think there is much to say about the music video itself. It is literally dark which fits the tone of the song. And it is just a bunch of people dancing. Nothing much really.

Again, not much to say about the dance. It just like the music video, just more colour. Seriously.

Sherlock – SHINee (Jap. Ver.)

If you are smart, I have just recopied everything here from the Korean Version of the song. So yeah. Score still as it is.

Song

What a really cool song. It really lives up to its stand as a really good comeback song. It is really funky and really modern. This by far is the best SHINee song ever. This is the first song by SHINee which I enjoyed hearing in Korean. I really do prefer SHINee singing Japanese, but this song may change my theory. Everyone has great vocals in this song. Minho and Key’s rap in the song is so awesome and Jonghyun, Onew and Taemin’s vocals is the best song. I really think they guys have gone a long way since their debut. The chorus is really the best part of the song. “Oh I’m Curious, Yeah. Oh, I’m Curious yeah, yeah…~”. That is literally stuck in my head. Definitely a song to listen to.

Now that is off my chest, I can now continue.  Wow, A SM Ent. video with a plot? What is going on? This plot is actually fool-proof so not many people can point it flaws. However I really have to say something. That person who craved the statue must have been drunk or something when they did that. Why? That statue does not look anything what so ever like Jessica. I believe that was an insult to Jessica’s beauty. (Jessica looks really beautiful in this music video. LOL).

There is nothing I can pick beside that from the video. Except for how obvious that secret room is on the outside because of the two different shades on the walls and that Taemin’s hair gets in the way when he dance. A nice music video better than Mr. Simple, A-Cha, Hello etc.

I really love the dance for this song. Actually, this was the first song which I tried dancing to in public and trying to copy it. I really love the start, It is very creative. Especially the slow motion walking. Boy, That must have been the most creative dance move there. I really love the chorus where they are like doing something similar to an Irish dance or something. (No offence to anyone Irish out there, if I got the nationality wrong.) I also love the very start and ending of the song with the position of their hand. Like a detective.

And The Rating?

BEST COMEBACK EVER. 9.5/10. (I’m sorry, blame the teasers.).

Now, I have to admit. I had mixed feelings about this song. This has to be an epic song. It is a clear dance track that tells people to dance, not make them dance. Two different things. The lyrics in the rap and the chorus makes the song quite fun, which sets this song a part from the others.

However I have to say this: I think the girls held back too much. Be My Baby had great use of their vocals and rap. Here the rap is just fine, however I felt the others held back. Even Sohee sounded a bit corridnated in a song that is just meant to be all fun and party, but the vocals in this song is not that outstanding. I understand Sun’s side of the sotry, as they recorded and held all their comeback stages sick, but seriously the other girls. But this is still a really good dance track. YAY!!

Music Video

This music video is nothing but a big flash mob. Though I think many of the parts were filmed as an actual music video, I still think it a very original idea. From my experience, nothing made the music video more epic than the idea of the flash mob.

Beside that, there is nothing much to say about this song, beside the fact that there is a lack of colour in the video. Dunno if anyone has noticed, but the music video looks dull when the song is very colourful and loud.

I love this dance. Though the start of the chorus bit I am still trying to master, the dance is pretty good. Its fun and very “up there”.

And The Rating?

9/10. If the girls did not sound like they were held back and the music video had some more oclour in it, then it would’ve been better. However it is still a good song. “Like This Yo, Like This”.

This is a really good song. I actually did not like their previous songs at all. This song compared to their other songs are more refreshing and really does not sound like an actual love story like BTD, Be Mine or Paradise (which was kind of a song that I thought would be a Vietnamese song from the instrumental). I found the very start of the song, which sounds like some keys dropping very original. The vocals and the rap were pretty good. Also I found that the second chorus, which slowed down very original and very refreshing. I think this song really was “Infinitize”. (Like my lameness?)

Okay I am totally lost. I really don’t get the music video at all. The amount of vehicles and lights were used in this video was astounding. A first a key goes backward from the ground to a person’s hand. Then a car is seen to be flipped around, for the entire music video. I have no idea what the box at the end means at all, or the lost guy in the lights. Even the car driver got a little tired from tumbling around. Seriously, its like weird. I guess there was meant to be some kind of symbolism in this video, however it was not as clear, like Cleansing Cream by Brown Eyed Girls. So yeah. Really lost, like the guy in the light area. (Another lame joke, hahahah)

Live Performance

I really like the live performance. The dance is pretty good and actually met with the beat of the song and complimented each other. Even the guys’ facial expression seem to have fit nicely with the song’s tone. Really good.

And The Rating?

7.3333/10. It would’ve been better if the music video was little more simple than what it is already is.

I like this song. It is not catchy but it sounds good. The beat of the song and the rap was pretty good. I really liked the bridge of the song. There is something which I don’t really like about the song, it is the sounds effects in the back. They have a song called “Drive” and yet they continued to use the car sounds in the background. Kind of annoying, since they used of a lot of car sounds in the ‘Drive” song. Their song is calm yet very forceful in a way and it portrays their emotions really well, especially in the music video.

Anyway, this music video is not my thing actually. It was like a mash-up between death related videos and really bad autopsy. I mean, the guys die (I am assuming) even though they rise from the dead at the end (zombies) shirtless. And then it is their girlfriend who is actually doing an autopsy on her 5, shirtless, tattooed boyfriends, who has a very brief moment with each member. I have only one thing to say, well actually two things to say. The first is that why the hell is the girl dating the 5 members at once, and how on earth does the members don’t realize that their girl is dating thier other bandmates. The other thing, is that I found it very scary, that 5 guys who were died, came a alive in the shortest amount of time when the screen goes dark. Actually I already said that: zombies.

Live Performance

I actually find their performance quite average. No catchy dance moves. There was nothing that was a stand out, nothing bad or good. Well expect for Simon, I keep on forgetting he is not Taeyang. They look so alike.

And The Rating?

I’d give this a 7.5/10. Its alright.
