Lonely – B1A4

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/B1A4-Lonely-MV-Screencap.jpg

It has only been 2 days since these boys released Lonely and their second album, and yet I am here reviewing in it. And don’t worry, I am now swimming in my own sweat. Gross huh?Anyway, the boys returned on Monday and since have been performing strongly on charts, hitting number 1 upon release. It seems like these boys are on the rise. Soon, they will take over KPOP and Korea and who knows what will happen then? But it is quite interesting to see the transition between the different concepts for these boys. Remember their first few days, being the cute boys and now, singing mature ballads and whatnot. Amazing. Seems like they are off to a strong start.

The song is amazing. When I heard the teaser I was unsure. But as soon as I heard the song itself, I threw everything down and made sure I listened to each bit in detail. The odd guitar sound sounds pretty good, but I am unsure if they reflect the song. It is odd sound, but I don’t think they fit “lonely” as well as a normal guitar sound would. It is great that the lines are more evenly spread (Gongchan has two parts in this song that are pretty long). But I still have this problem with Jinyoung. You occupy approximately 60% of the song, leaving your other vocalists with a sad 40% of the song. The rapping by Baro is really good in this song. When you first hear this song, you can understand how sad the song and how much pain the boys must be going through. The bridge to me, does not sound good as compared to the rest of the song. It seems to clash with the free-flowing sound of the rest of the song. But overall, an amazing song. And at least their English has improved.  From “I zoom zoom my heart like a rocket” to “I just want to spend  some time with you”.

The music video is quite interesting as well. The music video scenes with Jinyoung and the girl is pretty good. But as for those “lonely” walking scenes, yeah, they kind of distracted me from the rest of the video as there is nothing going on in the video. I love the artistic nature of the couple scene. Jinyoung desperately tries to hold onto his girl, but it seems like his girls thinks otherwise. Every time she tries to get away (i.e. floats up), he holds onto her. Likewise, when he gets the chance to go with her (get another chance with the girl) he holds back and decides to move on. In the end, he goes up as well, not knowing if he would ever get the chance to meet the girl. Now, I have a few problems with this, even though it is pretty good. Where did the balloons come from and why is there no roof to this house? I assume if there is a roof, she would not get very far. Just my logic. Oh and the dance scene with Jinyoung, Baro and Sandeul: Sandeul is a completely losty.

The dancing to this song I am not sure of yet, since I have not seen any live performances (since none of them exists at the moment). But from the scenes we saw in the music video, they are pretty cool. I am just anticipating the scarf dance they have planned.

8.5/10. Pretty good comeback that may earn this band more awards. With the promising start to the year, maybe it is going to happen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM KPOPreviewed!!!

What’s Going On? – B1A4

wgob

B1A4 is finally back with a new song, which seems to travel back in time. Before 2012 where the boys were dead serious. When they had more fun on stage and having a serious face and extremely hard to follow choreography. However, it seems that the boys have gone a long way with this song and have improved a lot.

Seriously guys, I had to like push back reviewing this song many times. The first time was before the actual song was actually released. The second time was waiting for a music video. And once again because I took a week off earlier this month. Anyway, the song returns the, to their debut period however has a different feel to it. I find this song much better then Beautiful Target and OK! I like it how the lines are more evenly spread out to the members. Gongchan actually has more than 2 lines in the whole song. The instrumental of the song was amazing. The like the rap and that little vocal part which Baro has. The only complainant is the bridge. It feels out of place in the song. It slowed down the song a little too much.

As for the music video. What The Fudge Cake seems to sum it up, don’t you think? I was more confused that a baboon flirting with a red penguin. Seriously, who thought of this better own up. Wait. Praise The Lord everybody. The guys seem to be spying on a girl and calling her to see how she is going, a lot of the time. They combined all their efforts in this task. However, she is spotted dating with a guy. Moving the sorry along, the guy sense something is wrong (Maybe Baro should never have had choked the poor fellow) and boards up the room. There is no food and no toilet in there, you know that right? Afterwards the guys break in and kill the boyfriend. Talk about the killer pillow. Not sleeping near mine tonight. Then they attack each other to be the girls new boyfriend. Woo. I think I did okay summing the plot up. You watch the video and probably be like me: WTF?? I also loved the box idea of the whole music video. Those zoomed out parts add a whole different meaning the to the video.

The live is pretty cool. I like the dance. It is more out there and relaxed than their previous song. Liked the ending a lot. It seems to coordinated and fun. It seems like Nine Muses Wild (which you can view the review here).

Sorry that this review was a bit long. I blame the confusing music video. 8.5/10.

Tried to Walk – B1A4

B1A4, who are set into cement, are finally back with another new song. Earlier this year, the boys came back with Baby I’m Sorry which showed us that the guys can shed their cute side and go for something more mature. Tried To Walk is the exact same, just now they have enhanced themselves. Something that is more mature, but at the same time is more unique to something you do not find in KPOP that easily. They always seem to surprise me and their fans every time they come back.

The song sounds much more mellow than their past song, Baby I’m Sorry. Tried To Walk however, is about the feelings after a guy, I am assuming has been dumped by his girlfriend. His girlfriend was everything to him, however after he was dumped, he found it hard to walk or “go on with his life”. The song has a really good beat to it, and incorporates a dance and ballad piece together, making it like the average pop song. The song does not have its Christmas feel to it, but instead has a more of an Autumn feel to it. I think it was released in Autumn. Not sure about that.

The music video suggest something else however. The title of the song is “Tried To Walk” however, in the music video, there is a lot of walking. I guess they mean the title metaphorically, but still, there is quite a lot of walking. There are two sides to this music video. The alive and the dead version. Baro seems t be happy and I think, he feels like he is able to go on, looking at the bright side of the separation  However, on the dead side, nothing lives and Baro is quite sad. However in both versions, Baro is indeed sad and cannot get over it. He still loves happy in the alive version, but is faced with a whole heap of obstacles. In the end, Baro is actually hit by a car in dead version but ends up surviving, which is quite confusing. However, we don’t know what’s happen to him, beside the fact he keeps living in the Alive version and dies in the dead version.

The dance is pretty cool. It is like the upgraded version of their previous dances which they had before. I really like the dance at the first chorus and Baro’s rap. Quite different, but equally fits the lyrics and song.

I’d give this song a 9/10. It is pretty good, however I do miss the happy version of this boy group.

Baby Goodnight – B1A4

Song

Okay, I really don’t like this song. Cutesy boy is not a way to go for me. This song was kind of a let down, since all the other songs sung by B1A4 had really good vocals. Here, its just a bunch of guys being held back. I do like the change since it is a repackaged album, but Baby Goodnight really is not “the” change B1A4 needed. They had a really serious song as their first promotional track, but a cutesy boy aegyo kind of song for the repackage album. I would compare them to other artists, but it is not worth it.

The rap is okay and vocals are pretty good. Just really unsure about the chorus. What they put in for O.K., Beautiful Target, Only Learnt The Bad Things and Baby I’m Sorry is missing in this particular song.

Music Video

The music video is pretty colourful. I have to say this. And the plot of the music video made everyone go WHAT? The whole music video is about cheating, not loving your actual girlfriend as specified in the teaser, which makes me fell like I belong here. I am quite gullible and so are the many KPOP fans. LOL.

There was also that twist at the end. We know the guys are cheating on their girlfriend (notice that there is no pural) or is it just CNU cheating on his girlfriend? I really don’t know. Well it shows us that the girl ends up cheating on CNU/guys as well. However, would it not be obvious if the girl is cheating on her boyfriend/s, when they are oh so close to each other. Where the whole music video is set, is actually a small western cowboy themed town, where all the buildings are named after the members. Yep. Pretty sad. Anyway.

Live Performance

This dance is pretty cutesy as well. So it is not of much to my liking.  But I have to say something. Boots and shorts do not mix well together at all. Disgusting. Disgraceful.

And The Rating?

7/10. Not like the other songs which I liked. I found this song just average.

Have Fun Watching. 😀 Troy

Live Performance:

Music Video:

O.K. – B1A4

Song

This song is really an electropop song. It was also a great debut song. It really launched the singers into the entertainment industry. I have to say the vocals was very great and very catchy. “I Love you-o-o-o-o-o-o-o~” LOL. All their mini-albums consist of many catchy songs, like Beautiful Target, My Love etc. which is really nice. This song built up their fan-base from the very start so good on them.

However the English of the song was horrific. Talk about stalking the English lyrics definitely sound like they are stalking the poor girl (but she comes to them… o.O) “Why is it that your footsteps sound as attractive as charms?” and “You have a lot of popularity, and this makes me feel insecure”. Wait, would that make them pedophiles? Only joking. However the lyrics do imply some kind of stalking action being done to the girl. (Or probably it is a new catchphrase to get a girl.)

Music Video

The music video was really good. This is because it takes me back into the time when i was a kid. There are basketballs, toy robots, bikes etc. So i am assuming they are trying to be cute. Yes, that’s is right, TRYING TO BE CUTE. Most of them were staring at the camera, awkwardly, as if they committed a crime and is trying to be innocent (not guilty). Another reason is their choreography is neat and pretty easy to follow. Its not like Super Junior’s or Beast’s. It is really creative and their chorus as well is very catchy along with the dance.

Live Performance

As I had mention above, the dance for this song is really good. It is not that complex like Super Junior’s or Beast’s. It is really creative. I also like how they are all in sync. That make it look organise.

And The Rating?

The song was really good. The music video and live performance was really good. What else to say but 8/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Baby I’m Sorry – B1A4

Song

At first when I saw the title of the song, I thought of some slow ballad. “Baby I’m Sorry” sounds a lot more like a ballad than a great party song. But in the end it was a great party song. This actually stands out. I really loved the instrumental, the vocals and raps in the song. They were pretty impressive especially the end of the song. IO really liked the chorus and I don’t have nay complaints what so ever with the song.

Music Video

Oh boy, complaints here. 2 main complaints:

1. How much freaking lights to B1A4 want? They have a window with sunlight coming though and then there are all the lights in the house. So many  freaking lights. Use natural light not artificial.  The bill for this music video must be very big in this case. Just for the elctrity : $1,000,000. Only joking about the bill, but you must see, there is a lot of lights in this music video.

2. How much of a failure were the stairs in this video. They were practically bits of woods stuck together to form a fail staircase.

The stairs are missing bits of railing and the sides. Oh my god. Behind the singer (sorry about names, am in the process of learning them), there is no 2nd rail. So technically its half a staircase. No second railing at all. Level of carpentry: Pro.

Live Performance

Thank you no stairs were on the stage, or there may have been accidents the whole way. The dance is pretty nice in this song. No complaints. Well, Music Bank’s stage needed fireworks like MCountdown’s. That’s about it.

And The Rating?

Really great song, fail building techniques in the music video and a great stage performance. 9/10.

Have Fun Watching. Troy 😀

Beautiful Target – B1A4

Okay, i have to say. I am very scared of this Music Video. They kept their image from their first music video however they added a very distinctive plot (?). Its is a really abnormal style of a music video. I think directed to fans only. Correct me if I am wrong. I have to say though, their debut was very big.

Now the plot here is okay, but also a bit confusing. So a scientist makes a girl out of chemicals. I have only 3 words to say: TEST TUBE BABY. And then he and his friends start hitting on the girl playing various roles like firefighter, ambulance, judge, dentist, janitor? Now I know they are trying to be cute here. Yes, that is right. TRYING TO BE CUTE. Now the scene shifts to the girl and the scientist again. However when the scientist touches the girl, the hotel behind them catches on fire.  WTF? Is she some kind of button to blow up a building???? And then you see the most craziest and weirdest camera on EARTH. To me ruined “Beautiful” & “I Like You The Best” (both my B2ST). Then the scene shifts to the court room with, yes the camera man. One question! Why is he in the witness stand? What does he have to do with B1A4? Who is he?

Anyway the plot can go on but I ceebs writing cause it just fades off from there. Now the whole music video looks really under budget. Now there is only one way a music video and a low budget theory can go together. A Dress Up Party. That is right. A DRESS UP PARTY. A firefighter, ambulance, Tiger can go to the party. How about the Judge???? How does he fit in? EPIC FAIL (Have been waiting to do that for ages).

The song is very catchy however plot wise and the rest ruined it. So I am going to give it a 6/10.
