Remember – APINK

APINK has returned to the stage with a brand new song. This marks their first release for 2015, becoming one of the most successful groups of 2014. APINK released hits such as Mr. Chu and Luv, which skyrocketed them into being dubbed as the next generation top tier groups for the KPOP industry. Luv was such a hit in the industry that it won all the possible awards on the weekly music shows for that month, beating out many top artists in December. But here they are now in Summer with their new track, Remember.

This is a messy song that has grown on me. But not as much as you think. I still think it is pretty messy and it really sounds quite jaggered. If you understand what I mean by that, award yourself a hi-five. But yeah, the song starts off with a slow piano sound, and then enters a dance pop genre quite randomly. Like there was no connection. The chorus was a bit awkward for me. Because it started off slow (compared to the rest of the chorus), but afterwards, it started to become more upbeat.  An interesting theory is that when Eunji sings the start, it more of a flashback type of sound that they were going for. When Bomi starts to sing, it like a “hit”- to get back to reality. That does seem very interesting and made the song feel better. But overall, it is nothing that I wanted from the group. No No No and Mr. Chu had very bright songs that fitted the summer season. But Remember, to me, was just Summer. It did not feel right for me. And the song ended very abruptly, and that still bugs me when I listen to it today. It just did not end well at all.

The music video was quite summery. Dancing on a boat is not something that I would enjoy, but it seems like the girls are having the time of their lives. Once again, it just feels like Summer. Yes, while the season is Summer, I feel like the song should fit into it, rather than be it. Once again, if you understand, pat yourself on the back. For some reason, I focused a lot on Bomi while watching this music video. And it is mainly because of her pink hair and the way they styled it into two buns. Like where are some stylists going with the hairstyles they give to these idols. (I am going to briefly mention it here. Wait until a review that will be coming out quite soon about hairstyles. If you have been paying attention to KPOP, you know who I am talking about. If that is case, guess below and pat yourself on the back). And those scenes where they get ready for the party. It has been done before in one of their OWN videos.

The dance was nice. It complimented the song quite well. That Running Man version of the dance was funny though. Just that crouching down to write letters in the sand, looks very awkward and kind of ruins it for me. APINK is one of the groups that just proves that you don’t need to have a sexy dance to get attention of others. Just ask their forever growing fandom.

Yeah, I sound disappointed. And I know that APINK is capable of much more. So I guess maybe next time. It is growing on  me, but it seems like it won’t be around for long though. 6/10

Mr. Chu – A Pink

apmc

APINK is finally back with a new song to the delight to their fans. After rumours that APINK were going to drop the cute concept which they were famous for came spilling into the media, the group returned boldly with the cute concept. And boy did they make it work really well. The girls are now one of the top groups in Korea, last week taking top place on all the weekly music shows (that includes Show Champion, MCountdown, Music Bank Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo) and on top of that the band has also ranked really high on the real time charts. Though this comeback did gather mix reactions from fans, the band still managed to pull it off and showed those who criticised who really owned the stage.

And this is another song which was really boring for me. No No No was really amazing, while Mr. Chu really sounded boring and monotone. However after repeated listening to this song, this song quickly became the song of the week for me, as I replayed it over and over again. Who wouldn’t do that, especially if they are listening to a bunch of cute girls singing about you? But i have one thing. This “Chu” business really annoys me. It is the cute way of saying “you” but “Chu” gets very annoying for me. Mainly because I sit there are work out what they are really trying to say for some lines. But to say it again, I found this song just that little too boring for me. No No No was catchy, while this song probably is not that catchy and does not sound as good as the one released from last year. I really like the instrumental to the song, it sounded very crisp and clear as if it was like a “crystal like” structure. Overall, a good song, but not as good as No No No.

The music video is really really boring. Though it looked cool, I did not find a reason to go back and listen to it. The girls were like obsessed over this guy to the point where they break into his locker and stuff a lot of presents in there. Though I have to say some parts were creative, such as the ball bouncing while the girls just sat or stood on the caught, the music video itself was quite monotone. Not entirely sure about this tennis theme music video as well, it just seems superficial to me. Also, that girl sitting on the locker while the guy was looking into the locker. Shouldn’t the guy have noticed her, like someone is sitting on top of the lockers, the only lockers in the whole room, I think it would have been a little obvious. And to those saying that APINK is copying F(x) with the school costume concept, wow. School concepts are apparently F(x)’s. Which basically mean Wolf concpets are EXO’s and hip hop is Big Bang’s. Interesting. -.- (Those types of fans really annoy me.)

The dance is quite cute. Though it is not as memorable as No No No or My My, the group manages to pull it off. I felt that after No No No, the choreography would be pretty hard. Hence why I think this time around it is not as great as expected. But still quite cute.

Okay, so a good song, good music video and good dance. To be nice, 7.5/10.

‘End Of Year Music Festivals’ Favourite Performances

Woah, 2013 is over (Soz, a tad late) and each year KPOP fans always end up looking forward to the end of year music festivals. These “festivals” are held on the final days of the year by the 3 major boradcasting companies of South Korea (ie. KBS, SBS, MBC). It is a stage where the artists who are active during the year can come together and celebrate by putting on some music and performing different stages from the ones that they had promoted during the year. So this means there are many different collaborations between artists or remix stages which would have fans screaming for. Because there happens to be little songs to review at this time of the year (end of Jan, don’t ask why), I thought I do this and release it in time for the Vietnamese (Or Chinese) New Year!!!!!

KBS Gayo Daechukje

  • Honestly, I was not satisfied with any of the collabs. They seem to be a last minute thing which made the show rather messy. They had good songs, but Iw as not satisfied with the way they were presented.
  • Crayon Pop’s Bar Bar Bar was a good stage. The start got everyone hyped up and when the song actually started, boy was the screams loud! It was rather fresh and different stage that everyone must’ve had enjoyed.
  • EXO’s Intro + Growl sounded amazing. Now if only they were not replayed 563495630295634092560 times this year and everyone talking about them, I would not think poorly of them. However the intro and the performance was really good.
  • APINK was one of the few bands to throw in a new instrumental for their “sexy version” of No No No. I enjoyed the dance and I liked the new mix.
  • Beast had a pretty cool stage as well. They kept their normal instrumental but made something interested out of it.
  • Sistar’s “femme fatale” Give It To Me looked really good. Minus the not so good looks of the dancers, I really liked their dance break and Dasom has my heart beating even faster.
  • Miss A’s remixes were amazing this year. I like them much better than the actual song. Amazing right?Well, honestly it is just a new instrumental over some parts and then the actual song itself. And Min, walking away like a boss and carrying on singing after getting hit in the face.

SBS Gayo Daejeon

  • First stage which I enjoyed was VIXX’s On & On and VooDoo Doll. I honestly thought that Hyde and On & On would have been a better match, but they still seemed to pull it off pretty well. I think I am turning into a fan. Damn.
  • Z:EA and Nine Muses collaboration stage with Ghost Of The Wind, Glue and finally hit song Bounce was another stage that literally got me into it. It is such a good stage with the two bands together, where it was Nine Muses first time and Z:EA’s second time since debut.
  • Another collaboration stage goes to Girl’s Day and APINK’s Expectation and No No No. Honestly, it seemed APINK had less airtime than Girl’s Day. Not sure about the detail, but it kind seems unfair. But both suited the stage every well singing each other’s song.
  • Crayon Pop’s Bar Bar Bar was pretty good. But the camera work destroyed the good stage.
  • T-Ara had a lot of hate, but I seemed to enjoy this stage. Number 9 but vampire version. Not much change to the song, except for really creepy dance breaks. And BOOOOBSSS!!!!!
  • 2NE1 had an alight stage. Though they just sang Missing You and Do You Love Me?, this still had remarkable stage preference.
  • Taeyang and G-Dragon seemed to had some fun on stage. I liked the lineup of songs they had coming. They sung 1AM, Crooked, Ringa Linga and Bad Boy. Considering that the whole group as not there, they did a good job filling up 3 other parts as well.

MBC Gayo Daejejeon

  • Miss A’s classy club mix for Hush sounded the best and probably has to be my most favourite stage out of all the stages listed here. It sounded to sexy and cool all at the same time.
  • T-Ara’s Number 9 and What Should I Do was a great stage. They combined the two songs into a club beat kind of song which flowed pretty well, considering the two extreme opposites for each song.
  • Ailee’s rapping before her performance , U&I, was da bomb.
  • F(x)’s Rum Pum Pum Pum was pretty good as well. Was not as impressed with the original version though. But the instrumental and ending of this stage was awesome!!! And finally F(x) gets a stage remix for an end of year festival.
  • B1A4’s rock remix for What’s Happening? was also a pretty cool performance. Literally got me going with the beat.
  • Infinite brought a new thing to the stage with Destiny remixed with the instrumental of Deception. Something that was quite unexpected but sounded pretty good despite the two songs sounding completely different.
  • Give It To Me by Sistar was pretty cool as well if the little bit of dubstep (I think) mixed in the song as well. Hyorin’s intro with Sweet Dream was pretty cool.
  • Kara’s medley of songs was pretty good. And considering the departure of two members, it fitted the occasion. They performed Lupin, Step, Damaged Lady, Mister and Honey (not sure about the last one though.

If you watched the performances, which one did you like? Honestly, when I was watching the performances on YouTube, all I thought was that it seemed too much like a normal music show rather than something to be called a “End Of Year Festival”. I think these stages are losing their purpose. But anyway, still a fantastic line-up and amazing stages!!! What were your favourite stages of the three nights?

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM KPOPreviewed!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!

It is finally Christmas and I am excited! And the year is already up. Sadly though. However, shall we continue with a more different review this time around? But before that, I just would like to wish everyone who will read this post a Merry Christmas. Enjoy your time, with family, friends or anyone else. Be thankful and be safe. Let’s enjoy the final few days of 2013 and ready to party with 2014. Anyway, today, it is really more of an impromptu review. Not score will be given for these reviews. I have review Lonely Christmas by Crayon Pop and Miracle Of December by EXO. There are however four more Christmas songs that I want to review and today will be three song reviews in one! Shall we get started???

Christmas Song – United Cube

United Cube is back with a lovely slow Christmas song that showcases the groups under A Cube Entertainment and Cube Entertainment. The artists in this song include: Beast, 4Minute, APink, G.Na, Huh Gak, Roh Ji Hoon, BTOB and Oh Ye Ri. Wow that is a lot of artists. Also included is Kim Gi Ri, the comedian for Gag Concert. The song has this soft tune that reminds you of a warm Winter’s night, like Christmas Night. Though the song starts off really slow and it takes quite a while for it enter a more Christmas-like song, by the end, you are bound to remember those warm Christmas nights with your loved ones. I think the rap was handle really well in this song which is pretty good, considering how raps tend to ruin a good song. And the whole song, vocally, sounds amazing.

 Love Falls – Romantic J

Now we are getting into the more festive songs. This song may sound like a love song, which it is. I really love the jingle bell feel of the instrumental and how the vocals in this song are not hard hitting as powerful vocals. Though Jonghyun from CNBlue does not have as much lines as Juniel, the song still sounds amazing. His husky voice fits the tone of Juniel’s voice which makes the song have this beautiful duet. The song is quite addictive and sounds really good. I have been lipsyncing to this song since it came out. Though the music video may seem more of a romantic story, the song still carries the Xmas cheer. Yay! Also, this is a duo that I would love to hear more from.

Winter Propose – Jellyfish Entertainment

This song is the only song that is really close to those Christmas carols we here every year. Not exactly what I like, but it still does. It features all the artists of Jellyfish Entertainment including: VIXX, Seo In Guk, Sung Si Kyung, Park Hyo Shin and also a mysterious female singer (do I hear a singer debuting next year?). This song sounds amazing and really has that festive cheer to the song. It combines all of the artists of Jellyfish Entertainment and amazes me a lot. Though I was not much of a fan of their previous Christmas song and also their more experienced singers, this song gives you that warm feeling that makes you remember Christmas day and eve a lot.

Snow Candy – Starship Planet

The final song which gives off the happiest Christmas feeling of the year. It features Sistar, K.Will and Boyfriend and seems the most enjoyable song out there for memories of family and friends. Again, this song, along with the others vocally sounds amazing and the rap seemed to be handle really well by Bora and the Boyfriend rappers. Of course K.Will and Hyorin holds the main vocal part of this whole company venture, but with this song, I am going to let it slide. The music video also seems to be the most festive one out of the four. Pity that Dasom from Sistar was not a part of the filming, but probably have featured in the he song somewhere. Not sure where though.

Thank you for spending another year with me. Merry Christmas to all, wherever you are on this planet. Be happy and I will see you next time!!!!

No No No – A Pink

Source: http://www.hellokpop.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/20130705_A_Pink_NoNoNo_mv.jpg

A Pink recently made their comeback with a brand new mini album titled as Secret Garden. Their title song this time around is “No No No”. This is the first time that the band has promoted after the departure of one of their former band members, which did arise a lot of suspicion why Yookyung left. Was it forced upon her or did she leave on her accord? No one basically knows why, except for the people involved. They also promoted the song on one stage before releasing the mini album and music video a day later. Just some interesting facts to note and that I really could not think of anything to right.

Damn, this is one catchy as song. Seriously I was really satisfied with this song the first time I heard it. The chorus was the most catchiest part. The song, itself is about encouragement and many find the song really supportive. However, the song really won’t get any awards this time around. They are going ahead with artists such as 2NE1, Infinite, Ailee and other widely known artist for getting many awards. But, this song still has it points to rank high on the charts. My most favourite part would be the chorus. Also, before I forget, does anyone think of My My when they hear this song? My My was another of their songs, which won them an award in the past. This song is like the upgraded version of My My. The instrumental is really cool and catchy, as well has an electro feel to it.

The music video was really cute. There is not much to say about the video beside the girls dancing and the girls making presents to encourage someone, with cakes and decorations. This video is very pink, mind you. However, I did see this when I was watching the video. no door

Where on earth did they come from? As you can see, there is no doors, just a pink wall. A lot of pink on the walls. The love the white set, where the circles are ascending from the air. They give off a really refreshing feel to it. In addition with the girls, I think this is a music video fans and a lot of males will swoon over and love.

The dance is amazing. Really love the “jumping-shuffling-moving to the sides-hands on the hips” dance which really looks good and fits the song really well. The different formations that this dance has is really cool and amazing. It also too gives off a refreshing feel to the whole comeback.

9/10. Excellent comeback, in my point of view. Just make a little more sense in the music video another time around.

My My – A Pink

Song

Yep, this song one hell of a song. A new rookie group who made a comeback with one award worthy song. Definitely a song to try and listen to. I was not much of a fan of their recent song (Hush). I think I was meant to review it, but somehow it got lost in the process and did not end up on my list. Or did I review it? It is not easy to remember 130 reviews my friend, but now I actually remember that is was my 100th review. Enough of me selling this site to you.

This song has that really laid back but average KPOP vibe to it. The only thing that made it stand out of the crowd is definitely the catchy chorus. But once you get hooked onto the chorus, you will end up loving the song. Not kidding there. I listened to the song at first, but did not like it. Listened to it a few more times, and then it grows on you. Next minute you know, you are singing aloud with the catchy “My, My. Your my”. The beat of song is pretty good as well, matches the cute voices of the girls, which makes the whole song much better. Along with the high note towards the end and that mini dance sequence instrumental, this is one really good song.

Music Video

Okay, this I am lost. They are a bunch of girls, having fun. One notices that another has a love letter and make fun of her. Then they help her. Then they start break dancing in an abandoned place. Yeah, not really sure about this. But beside that, there is not really anything to say, except for pointing out how cute they are. You see. How cute are they?

I think my job here is done actually.

Live Performance

The dance is fits the tune and instrumental of the song heaps. Everything is cute, and actually really does not affect the quality of their songs. Even the break dance part, was well handled and well done, especially when they are the aegyo type of girl group.

And The Rating?

8.3333/10. Really good.

Have Fun Watching Troy 😀

100th POST!!!!! YAY!!!!! (Hush – A Pink)

Hi guys, I have written up 100th reviews. (This counting as the 100th one). Thank you for sticking around with this website. It has been over 6 months now and I am really happy. Never thought I get up to 100 posts though. Thought I just quite after making the first 10. Anyway, Thank you again for the great support you have given me with your kind comments. Now onto the review…..

Song

Now at first I liked this song, but then I never touched the song ever again. I have to say this is a different style of song. I kind of liked My My, but for some reason, I just did not listen to it again. I liked the start of the song and the “Hush, Hush” bit in the chorus is quite catchy as well. I really don’t like the first part of the bridge. It kinds of just stops the song randomly which makes the disco music kind of weird. I am not a fan of A Pink, but their last single and this one is actually pretty good.

Music Video

Again another close up video. There is not much to comment on as it is only close-up and dancing. So yeah. Chocolate?

Live Performance

Yeah, mixed feelings for the dance. It is a disco themed song, so I was expecting some kind of disco dance like T-Ara’s Roly Poly, but this dance was bland. Kind of sucked in my point of view. C’mon A Pink up your game.

And The Rating?

7/10. Not particularly the best song out there, but it will do.

Have Fun Watching. Troy. 😀 (YAY 100TH POST DONE!!!)
