Trouble Maker – Trouble Maker*

Song

This song, I find very awkward for some reason. I really like it however it really is not that great. I don’t know why I said that but it just is. It has this Michael Jackson feel to it. Okay I know why,  I like the song but not the singers.

Okay back to the song. It has this Michael Jackson feel to it especially when JS has his solo parts. The chorus was very catchy and I liked it a lot. Hyuna’s rap was eased into the song really well. However what I think would’ve made their song much better was a male rapper right after Hyuna’s rap. The section in between of Hyuna’s rap and JS’s solo was bland. Yes, I know the gap was very small however I think a male rapper would fit very well with Hyuna.

Music Video

Definition of sexy much? This music video is really, really good. Got me to the edge of my seat when I first watched it. But to be honest, the second time around I was bored. Third time and I wanted to watch something else. It was pretty werid when I watched it the fourth time. There are scenes that I think should not have fitted in, like the scene when they are singing on the roof of the building. Also something I am very confused about. JS was in Hyuna’s room and Hyuna was about to open the door. If I am right, they are in a hotel. If my observation was right, JS would have to be a pretty good climber or jumper to get back to his room. Or the hotel must of been a motel and consisted of only one floor. Oh well, to my next point.

The music video consisted of a Mr & Mrs. Smith theme, however the characters are not married. They battle it out but both I assume are dead by the end of the music video. Unless Hyuna’s a good bullet dodger and JS can walk through fire.

Live Perofrmance

Not a fun performance but a very sexy one. I just don’t understand the viewers. Yes I would say the performance was too sexy however somehow they don’t realize that much of the dance was changed. Actually I lost interest in the whole performance because of the change. Visually there is not much of a change however my mind is now put off the performance because it changed somehow.

And The Rating?

8.5/10 would be the perfect score for this song.

Cry Cry (Dance Version) – T-Ara

Song

I really am not a fan of T-Ara and I really dislike the normal version (Drama Version) of this song. It is not that enjoyable to listen to. I do prefer it over Roly Poly. However, every time I listen to it I find it boring. Add that to the dance version and you find a pile of dung. Yes I am harsh however this is the truth for me.

Music Video

Talk about confined. You see a group of girls who dance in an odd room. Not the best video. There is nothing I liked about this video. The lighting was odd compared to other videos (aka. very dark, darker than most scenes in their mini drama). The dance was really not that great. Some people loved the cane dance. To me it was a distraction. I really dislike their scarf dance. Really it was awful to my eyes. Sad but true. I really loved Bo Peep  Bo Peep. Why don’t they go back to those times?

Live Performance

Since I spoke about the dance in the music video section, there really is not much to say about the rest of the video. I did say I hated the video’s lightning. However on the stage, the lightning was golden-like which reflected the song’s tune and instrumental.

And the rating?

Not really the best song. It did have many flaws though. Oh well —–> 5.5/10.

Blind – Trax

Song

What a sad song with a twist! I love it. It combines two things that I think should never be with each other (ie. rock + romance). Yes, there are songs that combines these two genres together. Most of the time, the electrical instruments are overpowering and singers literally are yelling into the microphone so the audience can hear them. This song does not. No overpowering instruments and yelling singers. I also like how the song starts off simple and slow until the end where it speeds up a bit. Also love the climax of the song. It matches really well with the music video and the vocals (by Typhoon). Oh and I love the vocals in the song. It matches the song genre. However I do think the ending was a bit rushed and it was definitely a let down.

Music Video

I really like the music video. It tells us a heartbroken story between two lovers. From the lyrics and the music video, there is no clear plot or story. Well, except for both are invincible to each other because they are both blind. That really does not make sense. So I am lost. But I really love the music video. Victoria’s and Kyuhyun’s acting were very convincing. Along with the climax which had everything (literally everything on set) bursting which made it look very dramatic and really good.

Live Performance

The live performance is basically a band performance. Not many bands do this, I can only think of CN BLUE, FT Island & Trax who does this. It is quite a change from complex dances that many groups do attempt.

And The Rating?

There really is not much to say about this song/music video/performance. I wish I could say more but there is not anything else! 8.5/10.

0330 – UKISS

Boy, I really like this song. It does not rely on the instrumental to get the mood over but the vocals do this instead. Only some parts the instrumental was dominant, the rest dominated by the vocals. This really stands out in my point of view. Beside that there is not much to say about the song. Really the song is a chart stopper and it is shown through the charts.

Music Video

The music video took forever to decipher the plot of the whole video. This really should be a bad thing however some reason it does not trouble me this time around. Every time I watch the video, I discover a new thing that was not viable to me before. (Maybe because I was mesmerised by the vocals. LOL.) Well, its  about a guy who has been in loved with this girl who he happened to meet at a bus stop one rainy day. He loves her and she loves him and they hang out. However when the girl dies, he can not face reality and thinks she is still with him. This troubles his friends as it pisses them off. This continues until one of them hangs up the phone which the main guy was on talking to no-one. The causes for the others to feel sorry for the main guy, who now is back in reality. Long plot but inspiring story I have to say.

Live Performance

I absolutely disliked the live performances. I can sum it up in one sentence. A group of guys who move to the beat of the music. That is about it. Nothing much. Nothing epic as a Big Bang or Girl’s Generation performance. So I’ll end it here.

Anything Else

I think I did not say this in my previous post however I am not a fan of U-KISS. But this song is really good.

And The Rating

This is a really good song (repeated 5 times already). So 9.5/10 it is.

Shanghai Romance – Orange Caramel

Song

Okay, to start things off, I am not a fan of Orange Caramel. Its not that I dislike them or anything (amazingly, I am also not a fan of After School) but their songs do not inspire me or motivate me to dance or at least sing a long. However I do like their theme of going to countries and writing various song about the country. Bangkok City was somewhat catchy in my point of view and so was Shanghai Romance. The song had this oriental sound to it, as if it was a traditional song that originated from Shanghai however as soon as the electronic beats started, I just said no. Yes, I know it is meant to be a KPOP video but the beat just ruined the whole video/song.

Music Video

The music video for this song was good. I love the use of props with the lanterns hanging from the top of the roof. I love how the music video itself made me laugh. You find a girl who has a crush on this guy. She tries very hard to please him.  In the end she gets hit by a lantern, rejected by the guy and the guy showing a shock face after the girl showed her thigh. However the girl hates him after she finds out that he eats like a pig (or maybe she got rejected too many times???). Yeah this plot does not make much sense but was great for a laugh. I also love the costumes of the music video. They wore a modern style Cheongsam, which I found suited the theme. The airplane pilot jacket did not much.

Live Performance

Ummm. not sure about their costume choice though for their live performances. They wore some kind of Kill Bill inspired tracksuit and other weird clothing. The dance is pretty creative as it went with the beat. Besides that, the live performance was okay.

And The Rating

Not the best performance I ever watched but not that horrible or something I would say “utterly the worst performance on Earth” . So I have decided to give it a 6.5/10.

Tomorrow – Tablo ft. Taeyang

Song

Now I am a bit confused with this song. I don’t know if this song would be classified as a ‘pop’ song or a ‘ballad’ song. Some parts of the song tells us that this song is a pop while Taeyang’s vocals are telling us this is a ballad. To be honest I really do not know what type of genre this song is meant to be. I guess Tablo’s rap in this song adds a bit of spice. It like a recipe. Bit of Tablo’s wrap, a good instrumental and Taeyang’s vocal. When you first hear the song, you can hear the sorrow and heartbroken-ness.

English

This song is basically filled with English mainly in the chorus and it sounds wonderful.

Music Video

This is the very sad part of the whole review. There is a heap of symbolism in this video yet people say it is just a bunch of sand and cars and helicopters and two guys walking around. Well, I guess this is how the song is interpreted. Firstly if you are in the middle of no where, you will definitely think that “There is no tomorrow”. You will try to think there is but the reality for some there is not. The cars are going back and forth round in circles as if they can not find their way out. (Maybe that is why you buy a GPS? Only Joking). This says that the cars like the guys can not get anywhere and are stuck there.

Now there is no definite plot in this video and it can be interpreted many ways. Guys get stuck in desert. Girl leaves them and then comes back to save the guys. Basic plot line.

Live Performance

I love it how they blend the music video with the live performance. It is really a smart idea. I also love the backdrop they have on the “big screen” at the back of the performance. For those who don’t know, it looks like the after effects of deforestation. This tells us further that  the song has a deeper meaning and can be interpreted in many different ways. I also like Taeyang’s hair. It looks like he dipped it in some blonde dye. LOL.

And The Rating?

This song is really good. The music video is really good. The live performance is really good. It looks like Tablo, Taeyang, Big Bang & YG Ent. have minimal flaws. 9.5/10.

Cry Cry – T-Ara (Mini Drama)

Okay Today I will be reviewing the Drama version of the song Cry Cry about T-Ara. Some different headings are included here.

Song

Hmmm… Not a big fan of T-Ara. This song therefore does not work for me. I really dislike the normal version. It is not that enjoyable to listen to. I do prefer it over Roly Poly. Music Video

This was only the good thing about the whole “Cry Cry” business. (Wait, there is still Lovey Dovey. I don’t like the teaser **) This music video had a clear plot which allowed many of us understand to plot. However I am confused about who’s who in this video. Is the girl part of the mafia or police? Is her dad the mafia or police? Is her guardian evil or good? Is the run-away culprit really evil or is good? Scrap the idea of a clear plot, I need to solve this before I can say I have a clear understanding of the plot.

However the actors and actresses/singers portrayed their roles well. They made the whole thing pretty good. There is one thing I am confused with. Does the lead girl love her guardian? There is proof that indicates so however other proof that shows us she is not.

Anything Else

I am kind of lost now. First day back from 2 week break for my exams and I need to get used o the format. My hands hurt at the moment. Let’s leave me until another topic. I think the music video would have done much better if the song was actually the ballad version. I love the ballad version. My thoughts only.

And The Rating

This song is not that boring as Mr Simple was however I think it was boring and the song/music video combined did not go well with each other. I would give us a 6.5/10.

Be My Baby – Wonder Girls

Wow, wow wow wow. I have been looking forward to this song & music video for sometime now and so far the song has been a big hit. It has been a long time since I heard this girl group sing and wow have they improved. “Nobody” is old. “Be My Baby” is the new look. The vocals in this song is superb. The rap in this actually fits in. Many people have been saying that this song should not had have the rap in it cause it ruined it, but I find the rap pleasing.  This is a song that raises the bar on k pop songs nowadays. LOL. I have too many expectations.

Music Video

I thought JYP had said they would not go with the retro theme. Hmmm… Maybe I have been hallucinating. (Using big words for my upcoming exams, one of the words which will be on the exam). Anyway, the set of this music video is really cool. The moving floors, that large staircase (to be honest, if I had that staircase in my house, it would creep me out especially when JYP appears on it). The lighting makes this music video ,ummm…., oh and the hair oh and the dance movies oh and the clothing. Hmmmmm… Come to think of it it looks exactly like a Single Ladies type of music video sung by Beyonce.

For your information, I do know that JYP hired the exact same person or people (unsure) to make the Be My Baby music video who made the Single Ladies video. I am not dumb and oblivious like many others. Curse you haters/antis.

Live Performance

The dance for this song is really good and easy to follow. I especially like how they incorporate the pyramid circular thingy into the dance by running around it. LOL, feel sorry for those moving at the bottom, they had to run extra fast. But you must agree that the choreography for this song is really good.

Anything Else

To be honest I was looking forward for Me, In as their promotional track cause I loved their first teaser. I also like G.N.O much more than Be My Baby. Maybe I’ll do a review for performance of G.N.O.

And the Rating?

Hmmmm… this song was really good. But this song was not what I wanted. I want them to have a new look nowhere near retro. I want them to be modern. But anyway to rate this song I would give it a 9/10.

Cleansing Cream – Brown Eyed Girls

Wow this is a very strong ballad. Now I like listening to ballads, and this one is the best so far. The first second into this and I was totally blown away. The song is very strong. Without knowing the translation I could tell this song was very strong. The vocals in this song is very dominant (something very good) as I find many ladies lacking in vocals for some ballads. Miryo’s rap in this add an extra uniqueness and reflected the other singers. I feel bad that I don’t mention Ga-in, Jea and Narsha’s names. They ware too good to be mention (Another good thing).

Music Video

Same thoughts on the music video as the song. This has to be a daebak song. The members did not act in the song and left actors and actresses do their thing and I have to say they were awesome. To be honest, this is my first time watching the music video as a whole. (I have watched bits and pieces). I was misinformed with the acting. The concept was very haunting and creepy which matched with the songs beat and tune.

[UPDATE] Okay I finally figured out the music video. With further analysis of the music video and the interpretation of the music video by the YouTube viewers, The music video is about a family: a successful business man, a paranoid & OCD sufferer, and a blind girl. The blind girl is the ladies sister who happened to be blind. Now the husband is really rich but is in his own world. The lady notices that the sister is nmaking her move on the husband so she keeps an “extra eye” on them. One day the sister comes in with a very unappealing face, which she used make-up for. Since she is blind she could not see that she looked hideous but the lady could. In the end, the lady is driven insane and tries to wash the make- up off. She does not succeed and finally realizes that what she has done can not be rubbed off her face. Not even “Cleansing Cream” can erase it.

Live Performance

There is no dance to this. If there were a dance to this song, I would say it would ruin the song. Funeral clothes which they wore on today’s M Countdown performance matched the song very well. Oh and the make-up & tears. Definitely don’t forget about the tears.

And The Rating?

10/10. Do I have to say anything else. Even though the little girl confused me a bit, I have to say. Good song, Great Music Video, awesome Brown Eyed Girls.

Message – MYNAME

Woah, was I blown away with this song? Yes. This has to be one of the best songs sang this year for a debut single. It is very professional. At first this song was really weird for me cause this song was about a message and sounded a lot like a EPIC FAIL song (Facebook Official). However it grew on me and now I like it. I would categorize this as an electopop song cause of its electric beat and tune. The chorus here is really good. Very catchy. Also the start of the song which was like “Yololololol. OhOhOhOhOh.” was really good.

English

Now there really isn’t much English in this song, just the odd few lines. However, they pronounce Message differently to us. They pronounced as “Mess-i-gee”.

MV

ARGHHHH!!!! THE BOX CONCEPT AGAIN. However the lightning makes the music video balanced and really the box concept really isn’t show able.

Live Performance

WOW. The dance is really difficult. First your lying on the ground, doing scissor kicks and c-walking (?), next minute your standing up and jumping. Yes, you may think it is easy but with the extra odd dance moves, you probably need more than a few people and made extra hands to tangle you out of this mess.

And Rating?

Whoses kidding. 9/10. Great song, dance moves and music video.

Mona Lisa – MBLAQ

Spanish Feel. That basically sums up the song. This whole song has that feel. Well except for that part – “everybody on the left, Everybody on the right, Everybody, everybody in the house say”. I am not sure about this but the song has an exotic feel to it but with one line, it gives me an impression of a party song like Party Rock Anthem. Beside that though, the song was great.

English

There is nothing to say with the English here. All good.

MV

Time to criticize the fashion. Now there is nothing wrong about the music video. Its like a normal KPOP music video. However, WTF is Thunder wearing? Are those laces? Seriously, who does that? What guy wears laces as a shirt and pants? That is totally embarrassing. As soon I saw those hideous laces I refreshed and clicked back on my web browser to just be sure I clicked on the right video.

Live Performance

Now I have to say the music video does not have the box concept but however the live performance does and totally ruined the song for me.The dance is really creative and makes the song really upbeat.

Anything Else

“Everybody on the left, everybody on the right, everybody in the house say LaLaLaLa Oh LaLaLa”. LOL.

And the rating

Good song and and it was the first song I heard from them so yeah. 8/10.

The Boys – Girl’s Generation (Kor. Ver.)

This review will basically will be the same as the English Review (Click Here) so some parts may be copied and pasted. However I have noticed a few extra things while watching the music video. So here we go.

Song

The song is basically like the English version but some parts in Korean while the chorus remains the same. While the song in the Korean sounded a bit weird since I got used to the English version, I found that it had a flow to it. The English Version sounded a bit like dead zombies when I compared to it. However I do prefer the English Version of the Korean. LOL, its because I can understand a KPOP song for once.

English

Ah, at least this version does not need criticisms over “Call an emergency” LOL.

Music Video

The Music Video here is exactly the same as the English Version (which I have linked above) however I did noticed a few things. According to what I know, diamonds can not float and therefore this can not be happening –

Hmmm. And that dove with no symbolism which is floating in slo-mo? They film as if the dove actually fell to the ground and to save time and money they slow the dove down so it look like the dove can actually fly. I know it sounds weird but its my thinking. And I think weird…

Shake It Up – Seo In Guk

This must be the most catchiest song ever in 2011. A party/dance track that does not exceeds its boundaries and make it into an annoying song. I can literally imagine this song at a KPOP-themed party playing and everyone dancing to it. Seo In Guk has a great energy when it comes to singing thses kinds of song however I prefer him singing RnB than these party mixes.

English

Not much to say about the English in this song, it is pretty good.

MV

Indoor party, other celebrities welcomed. Stay away balloons. Bring out the music. Its party time. The music video fits in with the song but when T-Ara’s JiYeon appearing out of the TV really did not. But beside that, I think the music video is fine.

Live Performance

The dance of this song is really what I did not think of. I thought of shuffling at one moment but when I saw the music video there was not much shuffling  in it. Anyway, but all of the moves on stage could always be pulled off at a party.

Anything Else

I would like to listen to more songs that have a happy feel. I think Seo In Guk sings a bit too much of sad & depressing songs.

And Rating?

The Boys – Girls Generation (Eng. Ver)

Okay, this is the first song to be chosen by you guys. It was hard to choose between them. Anyway, onto the review.

Song

Now as this states, I will be reviewing the English version of the song. I may do the Korean Ver. tomorrow or sometime during the next 4 days (Long Weekend). I only have 3 letters to say. WTF????? What is this? Is this Girl’s Generation? Like, who would do such a thing. They have great songs like Gee, Hoot, Genie, Oh. But The Boys is really is not a great song however a crappy song. I don’t want to be mean but the song just is not really that catchy and is not really that good. Please bring them back next time with a better song!

MV

I sense a lot of criticism with this area. However I have to say they look stunning  in everything they wear. But hell does SM Ent. have to lose the “box concept”. All they added this time was snow, rose petals and a big diamond in the background. Oh yeah, the dove ruined it for me. Why would they introduce such an animal to the music video. What is it meant to represent? Now I don’t have anything against animals just the dove has no meaning to this music video.

I also prefer the music video teaser. They were much better then the music video itself. It looked cool. The music video of=n the other hand was just boring and a waste of time.

English

Woah, the English? Must I even get started on this? I don’t wanna. I can tell you my contention with the English. “Call an emergency.”

Live Performance

With that said, the live performance is not that much different to the music video. The only difference is that it is live. The dance was pretty cool, especially the chorus and the “Girls, Bring the Boys out” part. But yeah, Box concept all over again.

Anything Else

Going Crazy – Song Ji Eun ft Bang Yong Gook

Song

This song is a really strong, dominant song. Even though some people may say that girls can’t express their voice like a male can, I think they can and Song Ji Eun is a prefect example of who. Bang Yong Gook’s rap also adds more to the song and makes it more better than others. It is very dominant and should be more known. Such a song, should be one of the best songs of all time.  Now because of this song and his debut single (I Remember featuring Yang Yoseob of BEAST) he is dubbed as the 2nd TOP. I actually believe that Bang Yong Gook is much better in than TOP when they compete against ballads.

English in the Song

Now the song has a few English lyrics in it and technically there is nothing wrong with it.

MV

Now, there two music videos which were kind of made for this. The first one I am going to discuss is the official music video. This one really does not see the image and the tune of the song but shows girl power and the harm girls can inflict on boys. Tying a guy up, chucking him in a boot and then setting him a light is pretty mean and I would not be surprised if the song received a ban by the MOGEF in Korea. So yeah not really impressed about the actual music video.

Stage Performance

Now the stage performance is what I actually liked more. In particular a performance where Bang Yong Guk is really a stalker and stalks Song Ji Eun. This performance, I should say, portrayed the song much better than what the music video did and I believe this performance should be replace to current music video. *Sigh*

Anything Else:

This song was a great way to start a solo debut for the two singers. I believe that these two should meet up again soon and do another song. To be honest, I don’t think I would ever get tired about this song and would actually give to others. bang Yong Guk’s new boy-band would be debuting soon, even though no exact date yet. I am going to be anticipating their debut and can’t wait for more songs from the two.

And the Rating?

Now to rate this song, I would give it a 10/10. I think I have been too generous with many people when rating a song but I actually find this song one of the most prefect ever.

Baby Don’t Cry – Daesung

(Lately its been getting really awkward on how I start my blog posts. I was rereading some and they felt so weird. So from now on I am going to put sub headings and write under each. Hopefully it will make my posts much more organized)

Song

Wow, I love this song. Though it sounds really tragic but at the same time it sounds calm and relaxing (or is that how I feel when Daesung sings?). The tune of the song sounds pretty cool I have to say and technically I did not question myself about the song or the vocals. While we are on vocals, he sounds amazing as always.

English in the Song

Now, its YG guys. There is nothing wrong with their English. Nothing at all. LOL. I guess that’s why you hire an American producer to correct  the lyrics and make sure it makes sense.

MV

There is no music video for this song, but I can tell you, this song needs a music video. DAESUNG NEEDS A MUSIC VIDEO YG!!!!!!

Stage Performance

Now to date there is only one stage performance I know of and it will be linked at the end of this post. I think this song was very perfected on stage. However, Daesung looks really hesitant about releasing his energy at the start and then at the end it came out so fast and kind of made the performance suck. I don’t really want to be mean but he had so much energy building up in his body that it was like ruined the ending. I hope you get what I mean.

Anything Else:

YG!!! LISTEN TO ME!!! DAESUNG NEEDS A MUSIC VIDEO AND A MINI ALBUM. HE IS TOO GOOD. JUST LET HIM DO HIS STUFF AND WE WILL ALL BE HAPPY!!!!!! (I did not want to be aggressive). On the side note, It was really sad to hear that Daesung was involved in a car accident. It was also sad to hear that someone had to die for a result of this and I hope Daesung is much better. Can’t wait for a new Big Bang Album next year.

And the Rating?

This song was very well polished and Daesung needs much more recognition for his work other than Big Bang and a lousy stage performance. An Album and MV would suit our fitting! Anyway to rate this song —-> 9.5/10
