Category: Weekly Charts

We take a short break from focusing on the recent comebacks of some solo artists to look at the past week. And I do that via the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. As I want to get back to reviewing, let’s start getting moving along with today’s post as we look back at the 1st Week of April 2021.

Releases from last week

In addition to the comebacks we saw that I have already reviewed (i.e. ASTRO’s ONE, Wendy’s Like Water and Kim Jae Hwan’s I Wouldn’t Look For You), we also saw comebacks from Lee Jin Hyuk, D-CRUNCH, LUNARSOLAR, BAE173, OnlyOneOf and STAYC. SuperM and Chanyeol also released special singles this week.

Throwback corner

Unfortunately, I am not Rollin’ around anymore. Instead, I have been busy listening to other songs this past week. One of these songs is SEVENTEEN’s Hit, which they recently performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. So that is this week’s throwback song (even though it is a couple of years old).

The Charts

Congratulations to WJSN for another chart topping hit. Their latest song, Unnatural, is the top song for this week! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs leaving the charts this week

Only two songs leave the charts this week:

• Sugar – Kim Woo Seok (UP10TION)
• You’re My Destiny – D1CE

Today’s Weekly KPOP Charts post is actually for last week (28 March to 3 April), which I took most off due to the Easter long weekend. And because that long weekend went into this week, I am posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of March 2021 a little later than usual. As this is a late post, I am going to make it a quick one by going straight to the charts. So I can get cracking for some more reviews tomorrow. Apart from that, I hope you all had a great long weekend if you had the opportunity to, or another awesome weekend if you don’t celebrate the holiday.

New releases of the week

As you may have noticed, I have not reviewed all major releases from last week. In addition to already reviewed releases (Kim Sung Kyu’s HUSH, Kang Seung Yoon’s IYAH, Baekhyun’s Bambi and WJSN’s Unnatural), the following artists also made their comeback last week: Kim Sejeong’s Warning, DKB’s All In, Park Bom’s Do Re Mi Fa La So, T1419’s EXIT, 3YE’s Stalker, Hoshi’s Spider, Hwang Chi Yeul’s Two Letters and many more.

The Charts

Congratulations to IU for another massive hit with LILAC. And like all her hits, they just can’t stay away from the top of the charts. And my personal charts is no exception! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs leaving the charts this week

• Cinema – CIX
• Memory – Kim Myungsoo
• Can We Talk Again – PURPLEKISS
• Forever – aespa

[Update] Due to an urgent change in plans, there will be no reviews posted from tomorrow night aside from the scheduled posts. And the number of scheduled posts will be reduced considerably. Reviews will start again next week.

Another Sunday has come by and it is time to have a quick look back at the past week. Compared to the rest of March, this past week has been relatively quiet. Aside from IU making her solo comeback with LILAC, Sorn from CLC made her solo debut with the single Run. But March isn’t over just year, with a few more days left on the calendar. And based on a list of confirmed comebacks, it seems like everything is happening this coming week. But as usual, before we can proceed forward with the new week, let’s have a look back at the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of March 2021.

Easter long weekend

Next weekend will be the Easter long weekend here in Australia. And as like all long weekends, I will be taking some additional time off the blog to spend with my family. As a result, there will be no review for songs released on 31 March to 4 April 2021. Any of those releases (and any releases I don’t around to reviewing from 29 March to 30 March) will be reviewed the week after. Next week’s edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts will also be delayed to later in the week. However, there will be scheduled reviews and album reviews released over the long weekend this time around.

Throwback corner

Nope, still in a Rollin’ mood. Still not tired of this song. Brave Girls did end their promotions for Rollin’ earlier this week, so that is one less avenue to continually listen to the song. So maybe, a new song will be featured in this segment next time it Rollin’ around.

The chart

Congratulations to Pentagon once again for topping KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the second week in a row with Do Or Not. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs leaving the charts this week

A lot of songs are leaving the charts this week, as they have completed their nine week run on KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts. They are:

• Burn It – Golden Child
• U MAD – BOBBY (iKON)
• Odd Eye – Dream Catcher
• Celebrity – IU
• I’m Not Cool – Hyuna
• Eeny Meeny – Yunho (TVXQ)
• D-D-Dance – IZ*ONE
• Moving On – Kyuhyun (Super Junior)
• I Wish – Soohyun & Hoon (UKISS)
• With U – SPAX
• Nostalgia – Kim Kyu Jong (SS501)
• Shining Star – N.CUS

I am back with another edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts. This time, it is on time per the posting schedule I had outlined a few posts back. Once again, it has been a busy week for me, as I explained in yesterday’s post for the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of March 2021. But that won’t stop me from finally making a start on getting on top of the many reviews I have flagged on my ‘Coming Soon’ page, which I have been updating as much as possible. Before I can make a start of those reviews, lets have a look back on the 2nd Week of March 2021 covering 7th to 13th March.

NEW RELEASES OF THE WEEK

In addition to releases by BDC, GHOST9 and ROSÉ (which I have reviewed), we also saw a new release from Soyou and the debut of MAJORS. Cravity also returned with follow-up promotions after wrapping up their My Turn promotions.

THROWBACK CORNER

The throwback song for this week is Brave Girl’s Rollin’, which has been trending in South Korea for the past few weeks. During this past week, their 2017 song managed to hit the top of the charts, scoring an all-kill (the first group of 2021 to achieve this feat). It was reported a week ago the group was considering disbandment. But what a turn around within just one week, as the now four-member group is now actively promoting Rollin’ due to its newfound popularity. And it seems like their 2020 single, We Ride, will be joining Rollin’ at the top end of the chart shortly. Congratulations to Brave Girls!

THE CHARTS

Congratulations once again to ONF for their really addictive single, Beautiful Beautiful. For the past three weeks, the song has not budged from the top spot despite strong competition from other artists. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

SONGS LEAVING THE CHARTS

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• What I Said – VICTON
• MY TREASURE – TREASURE
• HWAA – (G)I-DLE
• ASURABALBALTA – T1419
• Perfume – Yubin
• PLAYLIST – BRANDNEW MUSIC ARTISTS
• Used To This – Jang Hanbyul
• Write A Letter – Kim Jeong Uk
• I Can’t Wait – N.O.M
• Never Let You Go – Alexa
• Cough Syrup – Kangta
• Dangerous – E’LAST

Sorry about the delay for the Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 1st Week of March 2021. I was on holiday last weekend and I couldn’t find time to actually write up the post this past week. It has been one busy week. So without any more delays, here is the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of March 2021.

Before I proceed with actual charts (it will be another short post today), I just wanted to touch on the recent blip (Spotify vs. Kakao M) that caused about half of the KPOP songs on Spotify to disappear without a trace. It had an effect on the chart below, given that many songs on the charts ended up vanishing from my playlist. It is quite disappointing that such an event could occur, and I wish there is better protection in the future for the artists (as they easily could have dragged out for months or even years!). I tried to compensate by actively ensuring I listen to them on YouTube so they had a fair go at being on the charts. I am glad the situation has been rectified. However the songs only reappeared on my playlist yesterday, so I suspect that blip will still have an effect on the past week’s chart as well (i.e. 2nd Week of March 2021). Okay, now back to the charts.

THE CHARTS

Congratulations ONF’s Beautiful Beautiful for continuing to sit on the throne of 1st place for the second week in a row. For more of the charts, continue scrolling down below.

SONGS LEAVING THE CHARTS

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• In The Dark – Jeong Sewoon
• Luxury Big House – BOYHOOD
• Crush – MCND
• ON&ON – Hong Eunki
• Fallin’ (Adrenaline) – AB6IX & Why Don’t We
• Fav Boyz (Gold Star Remix) – A.C.E & Steve Aoki ft. Thutmose

It has been a while since I have prepared a full post for the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. But today is the day to return to normality. As things are returning to normal, I will be starting a slightly modified posting schedule which will start tomorrow. The new posting schedule will be as follows:

This move will hopefully free up time during the week, so I can focus on song reviews. On the weekends, I hope I can move forward with the album reviews. There is still a fair bit of hold up to get through, so please be patient, especially when it comes to the album reviews. They will be out soon! I am hoping to make better use of the ‘Coming Soon‘ page, which I am hoping to continually update and on a more regular basis.

Enough with the boring housekeeping stuff. Let’s move onto the recap of the past week and the song from the past that I am really digging lately, before moving back to the focus of this post – the Weekly KPOP Charts.

Throwback corner

This week throwback corner is actually a recent-ish live performance of an old song. Back in 2020, Lovelyz performed Now, We with a live band. And this has been on my replay list for pretty much the entire week. Check out the video below!

The charts

We have a new number one song this week! Congratulations to ONF for topping the Weekly KPOP Charts for the fourth week of February 2021 with Beautiful Beautiful. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Chandelier – BRANDNEW YEAR 2020
• Last of Us – K-TIGERS ZERO
• WE STILL (BE WITH YOU) – ASTRO
• Switch To Me – Rain & Park Jin Young

Sorry for this very delayed posting of the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd Week of February 2021. I have just been busy with some other stuff on the side, which lead to posts being shifted around and this particular segment being delayed for almost a week. In more happier news, this weekend will be a reviewing blitz weekend, as I don’t any plans on. I am hoping to catch up on necessary reviews, such as album reviews from January. The normal posting schedule will restart on the 1st of March, with Past Album Reviews being published on Wednesdays now and the more recent albums released on the weekend (instead of the previously scheduled Fridays and Sundays). As this is delayed, it will be a quick one once again. On with the post!

The charts

Congratulations to IU for another Weekly KPOP Chart win with Celebrity! IU previously topped the charts with Celebrity three weeks ago when the song was first released. For the last two weeks, IU has been steady in the second position, so she was bound to get to the top again eventually.

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Amusement Park – Baekhyun (EXO)
• Beautiful Love – Oh Sae Beom
• Camellia – Jukjae & Hyuk (VIXX)
• Hop In – Uhm Jung Hwa ft. Hwasa (Mamamoo)& DPR LIVE
• Cheese – Laboum

Onto the next review post!

Happy Lunar New Year! It has been a wild week for me. I managed to get back to spend some time with my family. But due to the ongoing pandemic, I had to cut that trip short. So, I will be posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 2nd week of February 2021 per the usual schedule (i.e. today/Sundays), rather than how I had planned for it to be published a day late in last week’s post. Furthermore, because this is being posted quite late in the day, it will be another quick one today.

Remember that I have posted the 2020 KPOPREVIEWED Awards – Winner Announcement post the other week. If you haven’t found out who won in the various categories and which song was crowned the Best Song of 2020, then make sure you click on the post here.

The Chart

Congratulations to BOBBY and his solo comeback song, U MAD, for topping the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 2nd Week of February 2021. U MAD also achieved the massive feat of jumping up 42 spots to jump into the top spot for this week. Congratulations to BOBBY!

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• I’m Cold – Kim Sung Kyu (Infinite)
• What Do I Call You? – Taeyeon (SNSD)
• Cry For Me – TWICE
• Eternal Flame – Pentagon
• Just Can’t Stop Loving You – Jang Hyunseung

On with the album review scheduled for today!

As promised (and on time) is the next edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts. This time it is for the previous week, which was the 1st Week of February 2021. As I want to focus on writing an album review for publication later tonight, I have decided to make this a slightly quick one, following a similar format as the previous one that I just published a few hours ago. Once again, I would like to remind you that I have published the 2020 KPOPREVIEWED Awards – Winner Announcement post. So do check out whether the artists, songs, performances and concepts that you voted for won!

Also just a heads up, next week’s Weekly KPOP Chart will be a day late. I will be absent from the blog for the majority of the weekend due to the Lunar New Year, which I am hoping to spend with family. I am hoping to have reviews set up for the weekend to cover my absence. Hopefully, I pull through this time around.

The charts

Congratulations to Golden Child who has managed to come out on top of the charts this past week with their new song, Burn It. Golden Child has also taken out a few awards in the 2020 KPOPREVIEWED Awards, so do check it out to see which categories they managed to clinch victory in.

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Panorama – IZ*ONE
• Christmassy! – The Boyz
• W.ALL – GHOST9
• A Book In Memory – ONEWE
• 30 Seconds Might Be Too Long – Jun.K (2PM)

On with the album review!

Apologies for the week’s delay for this edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts. As this isn’t the formal Weekly KPOP Chart for the week, I won’t write out a whole post with the new mini-segments. Instead, I will just focus on the simplified version of the Weekly KPOP Charts (which is essentially the older version). For clarification purposes, this Weekly KPOP Charts is for the 4th Week of January 2021, which included the 24th of January through to the 30th of January.

But before we can proceed to the Weekly KPOP Charts, make sure you check out the 2020 KPOPREVIEWED Awards – Winner Announcement post that went live on Wednesday (and is the partial reason to why this post is a week late). Congratulations to all the winners and the nominees. Thanks again to all the fans and readers of this blog for voting!

The Charts

Further to winning the Best Female Soloist, Best Vocalists and Best Collaboration with Eight (which featured Suga from BTS), congratulations to IU for topping the charts for the 4th Week of January with her new pre-release single, Celebrity. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Last Piece – GOT7
• Given-Taken – ENHYPEN
• Mmmh – Kai (EXO)
• Better – BoA
• BBUSYEO – ONEUS
• Resonance – NCT

Coming up next is the Weekly KPOP Chart post for this past week, the 1st Week of February 2021.

We have zipped by another week in 2021 and have just started another. Time is already flying. But before this new week escapes us entirely, it is time to quickly have a run through the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 2nd Week of January 2021. And then we can proceed with the reviews of this week’s new tracks, which includes AB6IX, Yunho from TVXQ, Epik High, Chungha, CRAVITY, ONEUS, Cherry Bullet agmonst others.

New releases of the week

Last week, I teased the return of (G)I-DLE, TREASURE, VICTON and the debut of T1419 in the Weekly KPOP Chart posts for the 1st Week of January 2021. In addition to these four releases (which I have all reviewed throughout the week), we also saw the return of Yubin, E’LAST (though their comeback track was part of their latest mini-album released back in November), N.O.M, Kangta and AlexA. I am hoping to get through some of these song this week, on top of the already heavy load scheduled for this week. Not sure how I will do, only time will tell.

‘Non-KPOP release by a Korean artist’ of the week

This past week’s pick for non-KPOP release by a Korean artist (of the week) is SEVENTEEN’s 24H, which I have been hooked on again. The catalyst for enjoying their release this past week is due to their performance of the Korean version of the song at the SBS End of Year Music Festival. Linked below is the performance.

The Charts

The top song for the past week was (G)I-DLE’s HWAA, the group’s latest comeback single. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Happening – AKMU
• Show Your Love – BTOB 4U
• Then, Now, Forever – CN BLUE
• Black Mamba – aespa
• BUMP BUMP – WOODZ
• Ready or Not – MOMOLAND
• Radio – Henry
• Crush On You – BAE173
• Life Goes On – BTS

And now we move onto 2021. We are already a week down with another slow week in the KPOP industry. Elsewhere though, the week was quite eventful and filled with shocking surprises. But this is a KPOP blog, so we will focus on the former. The good news is that we are expecting many comebacks this upcoming week, with majority of them occurring tomorrow. These include the return of (G)I-DLE, TREASURE, VICTON and the debut of T1419. It is going to be an intense day tomorrow. But before we can proceed, we shall reflect upon the past week that was the 1st Week of January 2021.

New releases of the week

As mentioned earlier, it was a slow week in KPOP. We saw comebacks from Jeong Sewoon and MCND, which I have reviewed. There were a few additional comebacks including Hong Eunki’s (former member of Rainz) comeback single, ON&ON, AB6IX’s collabroative remix single Fallin’ (Adrenaline) with Why Don’t We, another single (Luxury Big House) from BOYHOOD (Nam Donghyun), and A.C.E’s Fav Boyz (Favourite Boy (Goblin)) remix with Steve Aoki and Thutmose.

Non-KPOP release by a Korean artist

I want to give a shout out to songs that are described as non-KPOP, but are by someone with roots in the Korean music industry. So I will be dedicating a segment in the Weekly KPOP Charts posts each week to the showcase the non-KPOP song that I was tuning into for that week. For this week, I have been returning to Chungha’s Dream of You with R3HAB. It will be featured in an upcoming International Song Review segment.

The Charts

And here we are, the main centrepiece of the Weekly KPOP Charts segement, the charts. Congratulations to TWICE’s Cry For Me surprise single release for coming out on top of the charts for the 1st Week of January 2021. For more of the charts, see below!

Leaving the charts this week

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run on the charts and will be removed to make way for new songs:

• Forbidden Island – Ha Sung Woon
• MAGO – GFriend
• Idea – Taemin (SHINee)
• So Bad – STAYC
• Teddy Bear – NATTY
• Tears of Chaos – E’LAST
• Pit-A-Pat – Junsu (JYJ)

Wait? 2020. Wasn’t that 10 days ago? Well, yes. It was 10 days ago. But as I was on my break, I wasn’t able to post the Weekly KPOP Charts segment for the 5th and final week of 2020. Hence, it will be posted today, before we get into 2021 any further. The 5th Week of December, which consisted of the dates 27th December to 2nd January (inclusive), consisted of a lot of food eating, time with the family (though very limited due to the re-introduction of restrictions), a lot more mask wearing and the New Year Countdown. It also consisted of the first two days of the new year which reminded us that 2020 is still lurking around us. But there is still hope for 2021, with many more days in the year to come! For this post, I will be going through the Top 5 breakdown and straight into the charts after that (aka. a quick one post).

Starting from the bottom of the Top 5 for the 5th Week of December 2020, we have GOT7’s pre-release single Breath. In the fourth position, we have GFRIEND’s answer to retro, MAGO. In the third position, we had Kai’s solo debut single, Mmmh. In the second position, we had GOT7’s Last Piece, which remained steady from the previous week. And in the first position this week, we have WOODZ’s Bump Bump! WOODZ’s single came out on top, as I spent a lot of the 5th Week of December playing some of my favourites directly and Bump Bump was one of those songs. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs that left the charts at the end of the 5th Week of December 2020 are:

• Love Killa – MONSTA X
• SALUTE – AB6IX
• AYA – Mamamoo
• GOTCHA – Park Ji Hoon
• Dancing Cartoon – BOL4
• Red Lipstick – BOL4
• MMM – Treasure
• The Melody – Super Junior
• ACCIO – Berry Good
• Got That Boom – SECRET NUMBER
• Bad Blood – DAHYE

And that is it for the 2020 Weekly KPOP Charts! The next Weekly KPOP Chart segment post will be for the 1st Week of January 2021 and that will be posted later today!

As you may know, I decided to take a break over Christmas and New Years. This meant that I wasn’t able to post my usual Weekly KPOP Charts on Sundays over this break and hence wrap up 2020. But I still kept my records and I will still be posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for both the 4th and 5th week of December 2020 in the coming days. Today, I will be posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of December, with the dates ranging between 20 December to 26 December. For these two charts, I will only do the Top 5 breakdown, post the charts and recap the song leaving the charts for that week.

Strating from the bottom of the Top 5 is Mamamoo’s AYA, which rose into the fifth position from the 31st position last week (3rd Week of December 2020). IZ*ONE’s Panorama falls slightly into the fourth position. Taeyeon’s solo comeback, What Do I Call You?, rises into the Top 5 and sits in the 3rd position, while GOT7’s Last Piece also dipped slightly and fell into the second position. The victorious song of the 4th Week of Demember 2020 was BoA’s Better, the title track that marked her 20th year in the industry. Congratulations BoA! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

Songs that left the chart this particular week included:

• I Can’t Stop Me – TWICE
• Work Hard – DKB
• Blue Hour – TXT
• Jungle – CIX
• Nostalgia – DRIPPIN’
• Siren – P1Harmony
• Jasmin – JBJ95
• +HWA+ – CL
• Run Away – Mino

The Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of December 2020 will be published in the coming days. And then we can start looking at the 2021 charts!
