Mr. Chu – A Pink

apmc

APINK is finally back with a new song to the delight to their fans. After rumours that APINK were going to drop the cute concept which they were famous for came spilling into the media, the group returned boldly with the cute concept. And boy did they make it work really well. The girls are now one of the top groups in Korea, last week taking top place on all the weekly music shows (that includes Show Champion, MCountdown, Music Bank Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo) and on top of that the band has also ranked really high on the real time charts. Though this comeback did gather mix reactions from fans, the band still managed to pull it off and showed those who criticised who really owned the stage.

And this is another song which was really boring for me. No No No was really amazing, while Mr. Chu really sounded boring and monotone. However after repeated listening to this song, this song quickly became the song of the week for me, as I replayed it over and over again. Who wouldn’t do that, especially if they are listening to a bunch of cute girls singing about you? But i have one thing. This “Chu” business really annoys me. It is the cute way of saying “you” but “Chu” gets very annoying for me. Mainly because I sit there are work out what they are really trying to say for some lines. But to say it again, I found this song just that little too boring for me. No No No was catchy, while this song probably is not that catchy and does not sound as good as the one released from last year. I really like the instrumental to the song, it sounded very crisp and clear as if it was like a “crystal like” structure. Overall, a good song, but not as good as No No No.

The music video is really really boring. Though it looked cool, I did not find a reason to go back and listen to it. The girls were like obsessed over this guy to the point where they break into his locker and stuff a lot of presents in there. Though I have to say some parts were creative, such as the ball bouncing while the girls just sat or stood on the caught, the music video itself was quite monotone. Not entirely sure about this tennis theme music video as well, it just seems superficial to me. Also, that girl sitting on the locker while the guy was looking into the locker. Shouldn’t the guy have noticed her, like someone is sitting on top of the lockers, the only lockers in the whole room, I think it would have been a little obvious. And to those saying that APINK is copying F(x) with the school costume concept, wow. School concepts are apparently F(x)’s. Which basically mean Wolf concpets are EXO’s and hip hop is Big Bang’s. Interesting. -.- (Those types of fans really annoy me.)

The dance is quite cute. Though it is not as memorable as No No No or My My, the group manages to pull it off. I felt that after No No No, the choreography would be pretty hard. Hence why I think this time around it is not as great as expected. But still quite cute.

Okay, so a good song, good music video and good dance. To be nice, 7.5/10.

Zombie Party – SPEED

Source: http://www.koogle.tv/static/media/uploads/news/031814-speed-zombie_party_mv.jpeg

SPEED is back with a new song. After their release of Don’t Tease Me in February, the group returned once again in March and then once again in April. But let’s take the songs one at a time, okay? The group released Zombie Party as a single in March. Though this song was not formally promoted on the stages (there are only like 2 live stages for this group), the boys still manage to do well with their amazing skills and song. That is all for the intro. I realize I have been late for the past few days with reviews, so…

This song is pretty amazing. It is not your typical song. I thought it would be something along the lines of 100% or VIXX dark style songs, but instead, the band came out with a really cool and fun song. Most of the song has the high ptch type of vocals, which to me, really does not fit the boys that well. However, as they got to the chorus, the song started to get that much better. It was like a punch to the ace. It is catchy and really showcases the fun side of the song. The song itself contains a really good party beat instrumental which sounds pretty cool. I have to complain though, their English is pretty Engrish? Well, they pronounce Zombie Party as Jombie Part and Breath Now? I am not going to stay anything for that final part. Going to run away.

The music video is too dark. Like I cannot see anything. Anything I can see, however, is covered by the fast transition from scenes to different camera angles. Nothing stayed more than 1 second. It is like their company is pulling off another T-Ara music video such as Day By Day. Also, was the need for flashy lights required? Cause out of all of the bad points of the music video, I have to hate that the most. On top of that, we are in that same abandoned warehouse again. It is the same one guys. It is like that room that KPOP starts enjoyed filming themselves ion last year. And really beside that, the intro was okay and the ending with the Michael Jackson thriller laugh (that scene always scared me as a child) was kind of misused. Okay, we get the leader is smiling, but shouldn’t something happen to prove that he is a zombie. Like a flash of zombie colour or something, cause that smile can be anything. So yeah, to be honest, crappy music video.

As for the dance, it is fun and fits the song. Nothing much to complain. Like the use of the female human there. Hahahaha… I kid. No, but Shannon is a really good dancer and her addition to the dance gives it more of that creepy factor that we all want from a song about Zombies.

I have to say, the music video was the worst part of the comeback. For a song that was not formally promoted like Don’t Tease Me or their most recent song, which the title slipped my mind, this song is pretty cool. 7/10. If only they got a perfect music video.

At First – JJCC

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/jjcc-800×450.png

A new boy band has formed in Korea. *Gasp* Only joking, big deal… But this band is not a big deal. JJCC is a KPOP formed by Jackie Chan who is taking his stab in the Korean music industry. The name is a little too much for me to handle. According to the company, the name is pronounced as “Double JC”. Yeah… My reaction right there. The 5 members of his band includes SimBa, E.co, EDDY, San-Cheong and Prince Mak (I think it is time we have a talk to people who give out these names…). Something interesting to note, that Prince Mak (a fellow Australian) is not in the music video, mainly because he was injured. But hey, he is still on stage. I did also mention before this is Jackie Chan’s group, and surprisingly, I did not expect it. (And I really do think, he handled the group’s debut really well). The group is get a lot of interest because of the world-famous actor. That is my lovely intro to the band, on with the review.

The song is pretty cool. I have to admit that. The song contains these really soothing vocals from the band which I really enjoy. They sound pretty good harmonizing with each other. The vocals are much stronger than the actual instrumental of the song. Like all I hear are the vocals and they are loud enough to be called an acapella. Though I am not complaining, the song should be a lot longer. Hovering below the 3 minute mark, to me really is not a proper song to listen to. Anyway, the rapping in this is pretty good. That lead or main vocal has a really good voice out of all. But the whole band has really good voices. Even the rapper has a voice that suits the song really well, with a deep and husky voice. Overall a pretty good song to start of their career.

The music video did remind me of EXO’s Mama. Not as big and loud as EXO’s MAMA but the “super powers” these boys possesses reminds me of their music video. Tears that create fire, and an amazing power to do graffiti. Say what? Okay, Okay. Hold up. This music video is a little confusing for me. But that graffiti looked a lot like Miss A’s Don’t Need A Man graffiti. Also, that warehouse that has been used a million of times have been getting on my nerves. Speed Zombie Part, I think UKISS’s Standing Still and countless other music videos have been shot in that warehouse. Like why do the same place need to be used. If it is their debut song and video, at least give them the attention they deserve.

This group, does not rely on dance as much as their vocals. It is a pretty slow dance that fits the song that really does not bore the audience. I lied about that last point, it did bore me a little, but I kept on listening to their lives just for their vocals and the song.

Song is pretty good. Music video and dance: not so much. 6/10. Still a solid start to their career though.

Be A Man – MBLAQ

Source: http://8pic.ir/images/17830962014335202489.jpg

MBLAQ is back after almost a year gone from the stage. This time around, then have toned their comeback down for a more slower song. If you thought Smoky Girl was good, this song is better. MBLAQ’s last comeback was disappointing, but I am really digging this new song and I think it is amazing. LOL. That sets the whole review. Anyway, once again, I am having writer’s block and probably ain’t gonna finish this paragraph, so I am just going to leave.

This song is amazing. This song has that ballad feel, but how the boys make it into a dance song really confuses me, but hey it works in the end. The song is pretty catchy. I really like the part after the chorus. Probably the best part of the whole song for me. I really like the subtle rap. Here the softer rapping, which was quite limited fitted the song really well. I am saying this because I never like my rapping to be combined with ballads, but only if you are a good enough rapper who make get yourself to feel the song. Mir here handles it pretty well. The chorus is pretty good as well, but not as memorable as other parts. The song actually builds up until the end and I really like that. Once again, the song is pretty good and you ought to to check out the song.

The music video is so so. It looks like a barn recreated for a music video. Like, I don’t think the sand flooring would have fitted the music video anyway. I like how the cameras go in and out, but at the same time, that lighting in that square room ticked me off a bit. Though I liked the subtle lighting for their solo shots. It gives the video that extra bit of meaning to it. The music video does not focus much on the member’s faces, but instead, just their silhouette, which looks really cool. Though the lighting could have been been better for the whole video overall. Another thing that I am going to say which is kind of hypocritical, but I am glad that this video is that monotone. Imagine with a whole heap of colour. Yeah, you cannot.

The dance is pretty cool, though I am iffy about a few parts. I really like the part after the chorus, as I mentioned it above as my most favourite part.

8/10. These boys deserve an award. Especially that little accident that they got with their clothes burning, I think it is about time they get a new award to add to their collection. Amazing comeback.

Beat – 100%

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/100-percent-beat-mv-teaser-800×450.jpg

100% has recently made their comeback with a new song. I think it has less than a year since we last saw the band. If my memory works properly today, I think there used to be 7 members, but one guy left the group and also another left unexpectedly for the army… Talk about a shocking exit from the group. But now they have comeback with a much more dark concept that had a lot of people talking. Have you seen their music video??? But first the review for the song.

The song itself is pretty good.  Though it is not a memorable song that I think everyone would like, I actually enjoyed the quality of the song. I really like the “rough” start of the song with that really addictive beat. The vocals are amazing. The chorus is pretty catchy. My only compliant probably would be the bridge of the song. It feels out of place in the song, but still manages to pull the song pretty well. The song itself needed a more powerful rap. The rap at the moment seems to be very soft and monotone, but, and I should not do this, but I think it would have been better with a VIXX’s Ravi style rap, which is more powerful. Not particularly sure about the end, still good, but it closes off the song a little too sudden. But overall, the song was pretty good.

The music video was pretty boring in my point of view. I find the plot line interesting, but how they expressed in the plot in visual formats pretty monotone. I assume the girl seduced this dude, but then this dude was like played or something and ended up being frozen (reminds me of a video. Can you guess which one?). I think she has played many other guys, hence why at the end, there is just a whole heap of dead bodies. I assume the same thing has happened in the past, as that girl looked pretty devastated. I think the lighting fitted the video an the piano start was also included in the music video, in a much creepier way than I expected. I also like the dance parts in the video, the camera is shakey and the angles make it look much better, so okay music video!

The dance was so so. I was not that fond of it. The live performance overall as not that interesting. I would play the live, but go to another tab, which could illustrate how boring it was. Main point of the dance was the ripping out the heart dance, but I think 2PM already covered that part, so that is why I thought it was so so. Not that it was not original, that it was already done before. And this dance did that same move like 24 times for the chorus which was making it more boring.

6/10. Song was pretty cool. Music video and dance could have been more better.

Whatcha Doin’ Today? – 4Minute

Source: http://www.kofan.com/fr/files/2014/03/4minute-Watcha-Doin-Today-MV-teaser.png

4Minute is back with a brand new song, this time asking a different question. Last year, 4Minute made their comeback with “What’s Your Name?” and then followed up with “Is It Popping?“. This year they are asking “Whatcha Doing Today?”.  A little obsessive of the girls, but hey, who wouldn’t mind these girls. This song is already a chart topper ranking first on MCountdown and Inkigayo over the pass week and probably can do a little more. What other questions will the girls be asking next (maybe “Why are you going around with that girl because I am your girlfriend and she has no right to touch you and you have no right to go out with her as you must be loyal to your girlfriend?” I think I just upset some grammar nazis out there and as well, I don’t think that is a question. But plot twist: you guys don’t even know each other. On with the review 😀

This song has that disco beat to it, which I enjoyed. It is catchy and I think I approve of everything. Expect for that rap sequence from Hyuna and JiYoon. I feel that the rap could have been better OR left out for the good of humanity. The chorus is really catchy and the instrumental beat enhances the song. Jihyun needs to improve a lot. They slow the song down for her, which I don’t have a problem with because I know that she does not sound as good as the others, but her live performance sound like she is breathing each sound of each word out as if it hurted her. It also seems that Hyuna has been given less parts. Which was great, because I really don’t like her voice when she vocally sings. She is a nice rapper. But all over that, I enjoyed the song.

The music video was really flashy. Yeah, it was a distraction, but as much as Jiyoon sitting on the toilet with her pants down. How freaking amazing is that scene. No, I am not that type of person. but seriously, that scene probably has to be the most interesting scene out of all. The two guys kissing, I guess says that the girls are suspicious of them cheating with another person. Just the girls probably be really gullible if that is the case. I really love the toilet scenes, where everyone is just lying around or sitting in the toilet and moving their body to the music. It is like the Harlem Shake, but KPOP style. Hahahaha…. Not sure about the girls though with the pink wigs. It feels to awkward and out of place in the video. But beside all of that, cool music video.

Hyuna’s start really needs to go. I cannot believe they added that to the dance. Unsurprising disappointed. the dance overall was really catchy. I enjoyed it, minus Hyuna’s start. Like everytime I hear this song, I break into dance. Weird?

Overall, a pretty amazing comeback. 8/10.

Delicious – Toheart (Woohyun & Key)

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/toheart_dance-800×450.jpg

As we all know, SM Entertainment recently took Woolim Entertainment under its wing to make themselves bigger. Hence a collaboration between the two companies was formed. Still don’t understand why they both had to join. But oh well. SHINee’s Key and Infinite’s Woohyun have come together as friends to form band mates in this special project group, named as Toheart. Still also don’t get the name. But joining two of the big groups in KPOP seems to be a good idea. Look at that profit flowing in. Hehehehehe… Well, at least they are not forced upon each other. They are best of friends who enjoy the company of each other (apparently they have never argued with each other before).

This song is okay. It is not a bad song nor is it a good song. It is just an okay song. There is nothing that special about it and honestly, it is once of those songs you listen to again and again, but will never get into it. First time I heard I was like “Chart topper right here”, but a few more times and I thought “this is really boring”. Yeah I said it. The song is really cheesy and the vocals were really meh in this song. I thought it was would be a really good collaboration, but it seems not to be. Iw as really excited when I heard the teasers, but this is a super let down. “Love is nutritious, love is delicious”. Hell, we are in no cooking class. Yeah, I also find this song really Key bias. It neglects Woohyun a lot. Well, I hear mostly Key and then a few Woohyun random spots, which to me is really disappointing, because last time I checked, Key was not “vocal” member of the group. But before I turn this into a criticising member session, I shall stop myself.

The music video was equally as boring. There is literally nothing captivating in this video. Usually, SM and Woolim have a music video that I would rave on and enjoy or disapprove, but I really cannot say anything about it, The boring-ness just made me speechless. I have watched the video. Well to precise, I forced myself to sit in front of a computer and watch the 6 minute video. Like who on earth, besides CCM, makes music videos longer than 5 minutes? I already have trouble sitting in a front of a computer for around 12 minutes. So why go for 6 minutes? And since it is a boring video the time I am viewing it is gonna decrease. Usually the sets would be cool, but seriously, a white back drop with fancy writing on it really does not cut out for it. Though, I did like that outdoor American style cafe dinner place, which looked awfully cool and also the parts where they are spinning those fire things. But beside all of that, no. Music video sucked.

The dance is okay. Not the best as well. But hey, together they looked pretty good. The use of the flowers and the proposing style seemed really cheesy to watch though. But anyway…

Yeah, well there is my ramble on how boring this comeback/debut is. Out of all seriousness, Tell Me Why was a much better song. 1/10.

Special Guy – LUNAFLY ft. Miryo (Brown Eyed Girls)

Source: http://area51sv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/lunafly-special-guy.png

This is my first LUNAFLY review ever. I was meant to review their debut song, but that song sounded to cheesy and at the same time reeks the sound of One Direction, so I stayed away from the song as much as possible. But now the band is back after a year, delivering a new sound so their fans. The band consist of Sam, the leader and guitarist of the band; Teo, the drummer and pianist of the band, while maknae Yun is an all rounder being able to play many instruments. The members are all vocalists of the band as well. This song, in particular, features their label mate Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls. Finally we get some kind of collaboration between the two label mates. Hopefully, we will be able to see more of them.

This song is pretty amazing. I love it and I think I find it the most enjoyable song since a very long time. This band goes for really simple sounds. There really is not much complexity in the songs that they release. It is all straight forward in my point of view. This song is pretty simple, that typical club beat but at the same time they mould the song into a more love ballad type of song. Well, even though the song has that club beat, it is a really soft club sound that I actually like. The part after the chorus is really addictive and basically what drove me to like the song. I also like it how they also make their voices fit the song. Those high parts in the instrumental have high pitch vocals which accompany the song. There are no over the top high notes here but the song still manage to blend well together. Even the rapping is pretty good. We all know Miryo for these really powerful raps, but this rap fitted the song, as it was quite slowed and remained in par with the vocals and the instrumental of the song. Amazing song.

Okay, I have to admit it. I expected a proper music video. There is nothing in their video. Just them playing their song at a club and a really bumping crowd. Beside that, there is really nothing to talk about at all. Miryo’s scene is in a different place, but they they combined her and the band at the club. Why? Was it seriously that necessary to put Miryo somewhere else and then put her in the club as well? I found it boring and uneventful.

The song itself is really beautiful, as for the music video, not so much. 7.5/10.

Catallena – Orange Caramel

Source: http://modernseoul.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/orange-caramel-catallena-food-packaging.jpg

I am back and so is Orange Caramel. It has been quite a while since we have seen the trio on stage, with their last promotions occurring in October in 2012. And it seems like the girls become much more popular everytime they make a comeback. They are the resident cute girl group, who always go for an extreme. Like I have never seen the girls do anything that we would deem as not weird. And it seems this time is no different as they make a comeback on stage with a fish costume. Wow, that is pretty cool. But on with the review.

This song is freaking amazing. Those who condemn this song as a horrible song I think have no clue that “sexy” does not need to be included in the song. It is so nice to see a cute girl group make their comeback for something that they are known for, not for following the trend and jumping on the bandwagon. This song is utterly amazing. Everything in the song from the vocals and the instrumental makes the song so fun to listen to. To are insternately smiling when you see or hear this song because it carries that feeling with it. It may be a little hard to understand the lyrics, but from reading the English translation and getting a few tips from people, it (and this is sonly a suggestion) but the song talks about being someone who you think is cool, and at the same time losing your uniqueness and individuality. Interesting.

To link the above meaning of the song to the music video, I think that the girls see the “Catallena” as the octopus. This “octopus” is seen as cool and amazing, but in matter fact, the octopus seems to be shallow. The fishes (or Orange Caramel) try their best to be like the octopus, by putting themselves up on the market and then being made into sushi. I actually like the music video. It was cute. They made objects that would be really small into life size objects like the soy sauce dish which was really cool. Also the big glad wrap scene (which was banned by KBS because they thought it was a way to depict the music industry) was really amazing as well. Also, loving the costumes. Not sure about the end of the video though, where they eat the sushi. They seem to dislike it so maybe they instead tried to be someone else which they thought was cool, but in the end, they did not like it as well. Really cool music video which was colourful and amazing.

The dance is really cute. My favourite part of the whole song and the dance would have to be Lizzy’s part. The dance is super catchy.

Super catchy dance. Check. Really meaningful video. Check. Amazing song that is widely popular. Check. Guess what, 10/10.

Happy – 2NE1

Source: http://dontevertellaseoul.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/2ne1-happy.jpg?w=855

2NE1 recently made their comeback and along with their title track. released another music video for one of their other songs other than their title track, Come Back Home, for Happy. And if they did not release the video, I probably never knew that the song ever existed. On top of that, I am rather confused. Why did they create a music video for a song that they are not going to promote, while the second song they are going to promote, has no music video??? Confusing hey? Now onto something more serious. I am back. This review was meant to be released prior to my little break, but school got a little out of hand (and when I say that, I mean I got a lot of major tests 1 one week). But now it is over and i am starting my Easter holidays as soon as tomorrow night, so I am back and ready to churn out reviews of songs that I have missed out.

This song sucks. Okay, it has this happy feel with it, which is great, but this song has this “Falling In Love” feel to it, which I actually grew to hate. Come Back Home seemed more of a serious track and all their other songs on the album had the seriousness feel to it. Whereas for this track, it just gleams off happiness. There was nothing there is appeal to me and the song just did not give off that 2NE1 feeling we all want. Though, I admit the song makes me smile, I just don’t feel it like the rest of their other songs. Maybe because I am the type of person who is happy when everyone else is sad. Yeah, I live off people’s sadness! That was mighty rude of me. I guess this is 2NE1’s attempt of being cute, without being criticised for being a exaggerated puppy who is rolling around in toilet paper. The song, for me could have been much better if there was that more impact which gives more of a 2NE1 style to the song. So yeah, that is my take on the song.

The music video was a little too colourful. You can see the budget in Come Back Home and this video. The extra images that make the song more into a cutesy video kind of ruined the video for me. After watching it, I feel like they were trying a little too hard to fit the image of the song. I guess the sunny background does not really fit in with what I love 2NE1 for. Thier colthing and stuff looks awesome. Beside Dara’s hair. We need to fix that. Taeyang called and he wants his sushi rolls back. And didn’t Minzy have her hair dyed and short like that a pretty long time ago? I am talking about the blue or purple short hair. Which reminds me I need a haircut, but anyway. Once again the video was not that entirely great.

I think overall it is safe to say that I did not sit well if the song. Just didn’t feel the 2NE1 feel that I love and like. Such a pity. Come Back Home was pretty good. I was also meant to say this age ago, but the comeback that you guys liked the most out of 2NE1 or SNSD goes to 2NE1. Overwhelming support for this quartet. But still SNSD, you guys had a good comeback as well! 1/10

Come Back Home – 2NE1

Source: http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/article_large/hash/b1/49/b1493acb42940757393b0c157c84e166.jpg?itok=IDM0SQH0

2NE1 is back with a brand new song that has everyone talking. The group is finally back and it seems to be rivalling the rival group’s song. Bam, the KPOP industry has just been transformed into a KPOP Hunger Games Arena, where group after group is being slaughtered for the top position. After what seemed to an unsuccessful year for the band, mainly Falling In Love and Do You Love Me doing poorly on the charts, the 4 member hip hop girl group is back to re-shine as the top girl group of South Korea. I checked the Gaon charts last night and every single 2NE1 song is up there, whereas SNSD only has like 2 songs. So I see that the girls have finally reminded Korea of the badass group we all have been waiting for.

This song is pretty good. Much better than Falling In Love and Do You Love Me, which all have been viewed as a flop. This song however, brings the bands back to their I Am The Best and Lonely days. Well, maybe the song is not too the same standard but the feel of the song matches that era really well. I like the song and think it is totally amazing. There is one part of the song that did and always will make me cringe. The song was great. The chorus was awesome and then that one bit that made me want to turn my speakers off and cry in a corner. The ‘Come baby, baby, come”, part which was so terrible. Literally the worst part fo the song. If that part was taken out, then the song would have been the best song ever, but no, the group added something extra which may have made or break the song. The really cool instrumental which made it a softer song, however O feel the build-up and the vocals made the song into a really powerful song. The rapping in the song from CL was really cool. But overall, a pretty cool song.

The music video. Hahahahaha… It was reported that YG Entertainment blew their budget with the editing for this video, but seriously, I really like the video. The sets were awesome and it was totally something different from what we see normally in KPOP. The music video has some kind of a plot involving a real world and a virtual world, where in the real world, the girls were happy and all, but when their lover becomes lost in the other world, they seek to find him through rebelling to be able to achieve what their goal was. I just wish to direct you all to one scene in the whole video. Did 2NE1 gate crashed and literally slaughter everyone? Cause it looked a lot like that. 2NE1 is finally back. The visual effects are pretty full on in this video but I am not really happy with Dara’s solo prescene, particularity the “come back home” part of the song (The one that made me cringe). Honestly that looks like they are trying too hard and it does not fit the group’s traditional feel.

The dance is okay. Nothing that major which would make it song cool, but it looked awesome overall.

8/10. The girls are back and they are ready to live up to their name they established for themselves in 2011 with I Am The Best and Lonely. Hope they get to redeem themselves and win an award!!! My question which would probably cost my life would be:

MrMr – SNSD

Source: http://okpopgirls.rebzombie.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/SNSD-Mr-Mr-MV-20.jpg

The Queens of KPOP is finally back. Girl’s Generation is back on the stage after a year to promote their newest song, Mr.Mr! Their last title track promotion was for I Got A Boy which topped charts instantly and it seems like this song is going to follow suit. But wait, is their rivals coming out? 2NE1?? Oh my! Slaughtering fans in 2014… Anyway, it seems like every song they are going to do will be an instant hit. Regardless of how bad the song is, these girls have established a household name in Korea and probably in many other countries around the world. Hence why they are dubbed as the Queens of Kpop. Yep, because they are the royalties of the industry. I am not sure of their companies plan to promote 4600956320 bands at once. SNSD made their comeback the same week TVXQ started to promote their repackaged album, SM The Ballad recently returned with new faces and next week the new subunit with Key and Woohyun kind of sounds excessive right??? No?? Yes??

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG! End of story, end of review. We shall all go home now. No, I kid about the review ending. This song is amazingly awesome. This is the song we all wanted ever since The Boys came out. And it seems like The Boys did come out in the end. Everything (well, beside Sunny’s and the other members autotune part before the chorus) sounded really good and catchy. That part with Sunny and stuff sound so whiny and awkward in the whole song. Honestly, that part should have been taken out of the song. Also Hyoyeon did not even get a single part, except for the lead dancer… Kind of mean right? The instrumental sounded so good and it really felt like a song that would have came out back in 2010 when KPOP was really good. But it sounded so freaking modern  as well. The vocals were really cool and the subtle raping during the chorus is really good. SNSD is back!!!

The music video is okay. I found the million filters placed on the video during editing was really excessive and annoying to watch. It felt like the camera did not focus as much on the members of what it was supposed to film. That guy is pretty creepy (and apparently is my age), especially how the girls sit with him, but he seems so distant from them. On top of that, was it really necessary for like everyone is take part in the surgery? Cause it looked like they were more captivated by his looks rather than the real reason why they were in the hospital theatre. But hands down, the sets for the dance and the amazing looks the girls donned in this video for the dancing scenes were freaking amazing. Best part of the video is when they were in that black and white filers with suits and really cool hats. Most amazing part of the whole video. I just loved it.

5-6 years after debut and the girls finally get male back up dancers. Though there really is nothing special about he dance in my point of view, it was still pretty good overall.

9/10. I have to agree, that this is probably be the best song released by the girls promoted on stage since 2010. Though, I should say this now, but there is quite a bombshell. Either today or Wednesday, the next review will be released. But for who??? Take a guess, it probably cost me this website and my KPOP listening friends. Hahahaha…

Thank You Very Much (Celebrating over 400 reviews!!!) – BESTie

Source: http://images.kpopstarz.com/data/images/full/149282/bestie-releases-thank-you-very-much-mv-teaser-online.jpg?w=600

BESTie recently made their comeback with a brand new song, Thank You Very Much. It has been a couple of months after their promotions of their single Love Options which earned them more fans. And I need more help writing these introductions. Oh wait, what a surprising song title. Considering that I have hit 400 reviews. Well, to be precise, I went past 400 a week or two ago, I just forgot… Whoops. “Thank You Very Much”, just not in the context of the song. But seriously, thank you for your ongoing support. This stress and managing it relieves so much stress in my life. Thank you once again. But lets continue with this review!!!

This song, honestly, is quite a disappointment. There really is nothing there that I find amazing or actually anything that keeps me appealed to the song. I found it really boring and monotone in a way. Love Options has this really funky beat, but this song just had this kind of “meh” attitude to it. I don’t really like it that much. Though I have to admit, it is catchy, but it just does not sit well with me. The vocals and rapping in this song is so so and honestly, it is not the best song out there at all. Even, their debut song, which was a so so song sounded much more upbeat than this. This is just that really boring pop song you would hear once in a while on the streets, that no one pays attention to. This song talks about a breakup, but how it made the girl stronger. Great concept behind the song, just really boring way to show it.

The music video is also quite mute. Another “meh” type of attitude, which is basically going to lead everyone to not caring. I am a fan of these girls, but this comeback seemed so rushed. This music video just basically shows how the girls are enjoying their single life, particularly how one of them went through a break up recently. Okay, cool. But it was not great. And who goes out these days (unless you are riding a bike or motorcycle) with a helmet? Like seriously. And that car driving scene… That driver was seriously distracted for most of the trip. How on earth did they survive? Anyway, another complaint was the excessive amount of lights. To be precise, flashing lights. Boy was that distracting. But these was one thing I loved about the video and that was the arcade. It has been forever since I have been to one. I want to go!!!

The dance is okay. Nothing that major. The really high pitch “ow!” part was pretty cool and the start of the song rapping bit was pretty cool.

Not impressed overall. But it was okay. 4/10.

Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Let’s try aiming for 500 reviews… Sometime at the end of the year or early next year I think. Too busy this year. Hahahaha…

Can’t Stop – CN BLUE

Source: http://img.ohkpop.com/2014/02/23/aegzos.jpg

CN Blue has finally returned with a more softer image. Move over rock side of the band, welcome to the world ballad side. It has been a year since we last saw the band as a whole promoting a new song on the stage. Their previous song, I’m Sorry, was a major hit and did pretty well on charts. After countless number of individual activities through solo song promotions and dramas, we finally get to see them in flesh. Almost every song they have released has always been a hit and this song proves it. Despite the competition they have at the moment, the band managed to capture their first win this Wednesday. Congratulations!

The song is more of a ballad rather than that really addictive rock song that we tend to here. It has been toned down from their last song, which to me is really disappointing. But needlessly to say, this song is pretty good itself as well. I am just not used to this softer side of the band. However, this song I think is equally as good as their previous songs. The instrumental is really subtle and for some reason, i am not troubled by it. I don’t know why but a few songs (most of which I have not reviewed) sound kind of weird, but this song is pretty good. The piano at the start really suited the song. And I liked how the other instruments were slowly added to the song. The chorus was really cool and catchy. Not as addictive as other songs, but still pretty good. The vocals are kind of weak in my point of view. The voices are a little whiny in my opinion. Jonghyun sounds really awkward and I think he suits more of a fast paced song than any other. But still pretty good!

The music video was pretty boring in my point of view. Though the song was great, the music video dragged out for a very long time. Not sure about CN Blue’s obsession with foreign girls though. They look awkward together. I find it really weird that they chose the most popular member to  be the lead actor, but I have to say he is pretty good. Looks like Yonghwa is a professional (I don’t watch K Dramas, well beside Melody of Love at the moment). He portrays the role pretty well. I like the whole idea of the mirror acting as a passage way into both worlds. There are two things I just find that does not work at all. Yonghwa makes a sound that is loud enough for her to hear. She looks towards Yonghwa, but then turns her head in the opposite direction. Like, I think a mirror making the sound would capture your attention straight away… I don’t believe it. Also, it really ticked me off how the smashed glass pieces became coloured balls. You know, how that just ruined the pleasant feel of the video. I expected literally smashed glass, not some randomly 2 year old play pen balls. But beside those two complaints, the music video was pretty cool.

8/10. Not bad, just some mild things that did not sit right with me. Go CN BLUE!!!

Don’t Tease Me – Speed

Source: http://en.ccment.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/%EB%86%80%EB%A6%AC%EB%9F%AC%EA%B0%84%EB%8B%A4-%EC%98%81%EC%83%81%EC%84%AC%EB%84%A4%EC%9D%BC.jpg

Speed, the male subunit of the really big group, COED school, has finally made their comeback with Don’t Tease Me. Known for really powerful and complex choreography, the band  has returned with more of a circus theme comeback, rather than their serious electro debut they had. They made a joint comeback with two new songs. The other one, which I won’t review, Why I’m Not?, was a really boring song that I won’t even go near or even touch. Don’t Tease Me on the other hand is so much better. There is two versions to their song, the (what I assume to be) rap version and the voice version. Don’t know why but these songs sounds exactly the same to me. But on with the review.

Vocals, spot on. Rapping, spot on. I have no complaints with this song whatsoever. There is nothing wrong with the song. I find it really amazing. The instrumental gives it that circus theme that the whole comeback revolves around. In the whole song, I was not once ever disappointed and even though I cringe when there is a song full of rapping, I actually find it really suit the band and the song. The instrumental is really catchy and gives off a fun vibrant feeling to the song. I think the song talks about a guy who was left by his former girlfriend, but now acts like hell towards her because of the pain she gave him. Interesting concept, giving that more playful look on the song.

There actually is no proper music video from this band. Actually the “official” music video is just them performing at their recent solo concert. So I am going to skip straight to the dance part of the review. The dancing is so cool. Kids, don’t try this at home!!! Last time they were tutting (remember when that was the trend?) and now they are doing back flips and stunts that I think I would see in a circus or action movie only. Seriously, so they will have no more proper dancing styles to attempt. But, really the back-flips looked awesome and the “Don’t Tease Me” part where they were slapping their butts as a sign of intimidation was really cool as well.

10/10. Wow that was a really cool comeback. Do check it out! This review is pretty short though. Hopefully I can keep some of these pretty short for the future as well. It takes me a good hour to write one of these, mainly because I procrastinate a lot.

Full Moon – Sunmi ft. Lena

Source: http://modernseoul.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/sunmi-full-moon-solo.jpg

Sunmi is finally back with her first mini album. After receiving much love with 24 Hours, her solo debut song which almost got her to the 1st place on charts, he has gone for a vampire concept which is receiving lots of praises from fans and other listeners. Wow, I feel sorry for Sunmi. She is a very strong artist who I can literally say is successful, but her comeback is overshadowed by SNSD and 2NE1. On top of that, last time, she came so freaking close, but lost it to EXO and I think maybe G-Dragon. I think I speak on behalf of like the KPOP population, fan or not, but this lady deserves an award. Just give it to her. Yeah, totally not bias at all…

Wow, at first when I heard the teaser I was quite unsure whether Sunmi could have pulled this song off. It just did not sound like her. But when we got to the actual song, I was definitely wrong. Her vocals this time around was much stronger than 24 Hours which complimented the concept of her new mini album. On top of that, despite the song sounding quite pop-ish at times, I found the song to sound quite creepy. Her husky voice matched the song and even though she is not known for her vocals (but her feet) she manages to pull off the song really well. The chorus is also quite good, especially the “Eh, Eh” part which sounded really good. On the other hand, I am quite torn about the rap. A part of me was feeling the rap, but another part of me felt it just made the song quite weak. Though, Lena is a good rapper, I was not as convinced that the song needed a rap sequence. But regardless, a really good song.

The music video fits the vampire concept really well. I assume her friend was about to die or was sick somehow, and to put him out of his misery, Sunmi the vampire bit him, so they are immortal forever. I guess they were lovers, or she had a long term crush on him and wanted him to stay alive. I have to say, this video is rather creepy. The lighting was amazing. Her pale face made it look so real. And those transitions, where they moved from one place to another was really well done. I liked it. The plot did not take up much of the video. Actually in fact, it took up like 20% of the video, the rest are just of Sunmi and her backup dancers. The music video was quite nice to watch overall and was not that bad.

The dance is amazing. I love the boob tapping dance and the full moon shapes they do above their heads for the chorus. This dance fitted the title and the concept really well. Yeah, I am surprised she is singing even though she is stepping on a narrow couch top thing. What would happen if she lost her balance? One thing I did not like about the performance was in fact the rapper herself. So here the girls in dark costumes and Lena decides to walk out with a snap back and a basketball shirt on? Yeah, that is a big no no for me.

Overall, I was quite satisfied with the comeback. Let’s just hope she wins!!! 8/10.
