La Song – Rain

Source: http://showbiz.omy.sg/sites/default/files/images/201401/20140102/rain-la-song_vod_img.jpg

This is part two of the Rain special. If you still have not seen part one (aka. review for 30Sexy), then you can do so by clicking on the link HERE! This is the second song from the pair, with many people finding this new song quite interesting.

Yeah, same goes for this song. Not as great as the hype for it. Though it is mildly better than 30Sexy. I find this song more easily to listen to and it is more pleasant to listen to. But to me, is does not seem to be a style that I would go for. I find it rather awkward to listen at times. For those who have not listened to the song yet, you get this Spanish / Mexican beat to the song, which makes it rather different to the many types of standard songs we have now. I have to say, he made a good effort to make the song sound like it was from Mexico or a European country. But it does not suit him. He sounds good but the chorus seems to put me off. On top of that, the verses does not seem to match the chorus of the song. I think the best conclusion I can make is that the song sounds much better than 30Sexy.

The music video could have been much better. The music video seemed quite dark in feeling for such a upbeat song. Anyway, I have to say: why is twerking the new craze? Like seriously, I thought the Harlem Shake was weird, but twerking just takes internet crazes to a whole new level. People are saying that this song and music video is racially discriminatory, but I don’t find anything wrong with this music video in that sense. Well, beside that scene where the girl’s shadow gets changed. But beside that, all I can see is that the people in this music video are people who really know how to party really well. I see no problem with that. Anyway, the music video is okay, but I would have expected something a little more grand especially for Rain’s comeback and for this song.

The live performance is pretty good. It seems like he sings live, so that is great. And I guess the dance is pretty good. Though this song does not fit his style, It seems like he enjoyed being up there singing this song. Hmmm… I don’t have a problem with this, but he is far too happy on that stage.

5/10. Okay, not that happy with it, but I think it is much better than 30Sexy. Maybe next time I guess?

30 Sexy – Rain

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/rain-30-sexy-teaser-vid.png

Rain, back from military service, has finally returned to the stage. It has been a very long while since we all have seen the singer on stage and finally fan girls have been able to see the singer perform. His last comeback was in 2010, with  Love Song, which won many fans over. It seems that with Rain’s comeback, he is quite popular. You probably be in denial if you said he was not popular, because the truth is that is has to be one of the popular male idols out there at the moment.  This time around he came back with two songs: La Song and 30Sexy. The second song will be reviewed first and also, tomorrow, the review for La Song will be revealed. So stay tuned for that. It’s the RAIN special. Woo!

And yeah. I should rather wrap up the review now, than be criticised. Oh sigh. I really don’t like this song. I have never been a fan of Rain and probably never be, but this song is absolutely terrible. The only good songs he had were Rainism and Love Song. And those were not total favourites as well. This song really did not sum anything up. You have been away for 2 years and you give us a song that is high-pitched and unappealing. His voice is meant to sound good, but all I hear is a high pitch screech. I actually like the moments where he is singing in a normal voice, but that is only like 30% of the song. This song is not catchy and to be honest, I cannot listen to this song for more than a minute. If you were to choose between 30Sexy, La Song and Love Song to introduce someone to KPOP, Love Song would be the best choice. This song is quite disappointing and probably a song that I would never turn to ever again.

The music video misses something. Sexy. Now, I know that to some people, this video is very hard to resist, but to me and probably a few others, what the fudge cake is going on? The King Of Pop is back and we get a dark music video with hardly anything to talk about. Well, I can point out that the extra big shoes he got (I am speaking in terms of heels. He is the tallest soloist, I believe, yet he is insecure about his height?) and  that extra short jacket is quite an eyesore. I actually prefer him wearing something like in his dance break, something casual. Anyway, the video is quite dark and with those visual effects going on, I spend more times trying to adjust my eyesight to the different colours (note, there is only black and white in this video) than staring and focusing on him. And why give him such a dull colour and put the dances in colour? Why are they getting the spotlight when this comeback is about Rain, not really about his backup dancer’s though.

I think it would be hard to top Love Song with the body rolls and ripping of shirts and abs. And I guess this dance just proves that. Nothing in this dance is memorable, and it does not reflect the song as I would have expected it. I think his dance break in song was pretty cool, but beside that… Sorry.

Sorry, but this does not cut out for me. Though this is not my cup of tea, I am sure everyone else enjoys it. 1/10. Definitely a song that I would not go back to.

Something – Girl’s Day

Source: http://modernseoul.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/girls-day-somethings-dance.jpg

Girl’s Day is back with a new song. After successful promotions for Expectations and their success song Female President, the girls once again have up the ante to become of the biggest groups of Korea. The girls released Something at the start of 2014, and have earned their first award just on Wednesday for their song. After receiving much love from fans boosting them to the top of the charts, it seems like this group is one to beat. But the competition in just January alone is quite fierce. Must I remind that TVXQ, Ailee, Rain, Dal Shabet and many other bands will be making their comeback and it seems that all of the groups will be having a run for their money.

When I first heard this song, I thought it was a total let down. Female President had this really catchy tune, while Expectation had guys screaming for more. This one seemed like a sexy video posted up in the 1960’s and everyone criticising it. It was not until I listened to it over and over again to understand that this song is a freaking awesome song. Though I have to be honest, I did get a little confused with another song by the same title quite a few times when I am listening to it online. However, I have been listening to this song on repeat and literally have fallen in love for it. May be a little bias (okay, a lot of bias here) but I freaking love every aspect of this song. The vocals were really good and they matched the expected standard of huskiness for a “sexy” song. The instrumental did make me go back in time, and that reminded me of a lot of videos and culture back then. I would’ve expected a rap, but it seems they did not fit it in. Instead they got a really good part at the end, where it seems like they are whispering (prayers, from the look of the dance) and that is totally awesome.

The music video is quite something. People are always criticising the sexy comeback. Saying that they are overusing the word. But it the same people who criticise this exact band for their debut song, which happens to be the other end of the spectrum, saying that they are tryhards. I am quite disappointed with the audience of the video. Not all, but the minority. Which leads to the next point. I don’t find this video “sexy”. Sexy was not the right word to use. I don’t see how sitting in a bathtub, ripping up an audio tape or picking up a phone, “sexy”. There are only two things that I found were quite suggestive. The dance at the start and Minah’s slowly scene where there is a camera on the bed. Ummm…. Yeah, but in today standards, this is just the starting point. No where near the climax yet. I like the setting of the dance scenes. Not sure about the alley ways though, they look okay, but rather awkward in this song.

The dance. The start. The freaking start had me screaming into the computer. I am sorry, but girls if you’re going to rub your body over the floor like that, how on earth do you expect your fanboys to live? And that is where the dance kind of goes weird. Most of the dance I thought: “Hey Cool”. But the bouncing dance in the chorus, what is going on? It feels awkward and weird. Does not show off the elegance that we were promised. It does not fit well with the song, but beside that everything else was okay.

Congrats girl on your first place win on Wednesday. 9/10. Was planning on giving them a 10/10, but I seemed to have rambled on about the music video and dance and pointing out the flaws a little too much. So a perfect 10/10 would not have suited the review.

Fall In Love – UKISS

Source: http://kisseopiansindonesia.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/tumblr_mvrtfzxr631r17qx7o1_1280.jpg

UKISS has been quite active overseas in Japan. They recently released a new single in Japan, titled as Fall In Love. It has been a while since I last reviewed a Japanese song from UKISS, the last one being Alone, early last year. This song is much more different from any of their previous songs released in Japan or Korea, where they have opted out for a much slower song. But it must be noted, that the song is not as slow as a ballad. Beside that, I think it is time to end the intro and go on with the review.

The song is pretty upbeat song in my point of view. But nothing about the song is upbeat except for the instrumental. The lyrics of the song speak about falling in love at first sight, but every time I read the lyrics I get a feeling that the song is not as positive. The way the guys sing the song seems like they want the girl back and the whole song is about unrequited love. Though, this time around, the boys have gone for a more vocally sounded song. The whole song has this powerful vocals in it and the raps seem to fit into the feel of the song. The rap is not the big deal this time around, which I am glad because their previous songs tend to focus more on the rapping rather than the lyrics, while this time around the raps bit only take up around 25% of the song. Honestly, I am satisfied with this song. It probably be on the best Japanese songs of the year, too bad I did not see it before making those awards thing.

The music video okay. Japanese music videos have these really cool sets and all, but the music video itself is not as great. Walking around an abandoned warehouse is not what I would think would be great for reflecting on your love. Rather, I see the guys as a coward in expressing the feelings. Also, the place looks rather rundown and creepy. Wait a minute, wasn’t Neverland, Tick Tack, Alone, Standing Still, Believe, Inside Of Me all shot in an abandoned place???? OMG, I should cut down on my KPOP knowledge and save some room for my Chemistry information. It seems like the company who manages UKISS in Japan really does not care much about the quality for the music video there. But I am not one to say that much. And did that bubble represent the girl that they love? Cause if it isn’t the bubble was kind of random.

There is dance to this song. But from first listening to the song, there was not going to be a dance. But I was pretty surprised. The dance is not as powerful in this song, if you imagine a dance similar to Tick Tack in a song like this and still thinks it works, well….

7.5/10. A good release, but not as great as I expected it though. But it still works. I heard that they are going on a World Tour currently. Can’t wait to see what these guys have in stored next in both Japan and Korea. Maybe an award this year?

Something – TVXQ

Source: http://dzpy14fd0up32.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tvxq-something-mv-2-1024×682.jpg

TVXQ is finally back after a years absence from the stage and have “Something” to tell you fans. Hahahahaha… My lame jokes. It has been a while since we last saw this duo on the stage, and they recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary as a group. I never got around to reviewing Catch Me or Humanoids, even though the second song has been a favourite of mine, I was quite excited to finally sit down and review this song. And, like always, TVXQ never do well in my mind. Sorry. On top of that, I am still unsure if they have an effect on Korea anymore, especially since their last comeback scored them 0 awards but I guess we have to wait and see.

Okay, I admit that I was waiting for this band to make their comeback. Their teaser was amazing. I dig the teaser more than the actual song. It seems like the song was a total letdown for me. Not only am I disappointed with the song, I have to say that Catch Me was a totally better song than this. Though it was catchy, TVXQ is known for their dancing and singing ability, however, I think the song steps a little down from the singing ability side. I liked the start where they are like “She Got The Something!”, which really does not make sense, but hey, who cares! As soon as I heard the 1 verse, I was quite disappointed. The song has the epic feel throughout though which make it sound good, and the chorus was really good as well, but it was not as appealing as the teaser portrayed it. I can tell when Changmin is singing, but really cannot tell when Yunho is singing, because his voice sounds different. The climax of the song was not as I expected, it slowed and literally made the song more quiet than what it is. An okay song though.

The music video is like any other SM entertainment music video. You know the horrible sets and whatnot. But I found the set of this music video pretty cool. Las Vegas’s cousin, just inside a building. There are so many light-bulbs in this music video, but it makes the video look good and the set more appealing. The classiness of the video fits the feel of the song. Not sure about the girls though, they make the whole video really awkward. Not sure about the end though. Maybe the boys dreams were to become statues or something? No? Yeah… I don’t know as well. Also, the dance break scene was quite disappointing. But beside the sets that they are in when they dance is pretty amazing. Oh Changmin, lose the shorts and both of you, lose the tattoos. What are they even for? They look hideous!

The dance never fails to impress. TVXQ has always had amazing dances and I think this just adds to the list. Using on object that is very hard to control to their advantage. The rope would have been hard to use but yet they pulled the dance off flawlessly. I have to say as well, the ending was amazing, where they are leaning over the ropes and stuff. Pretty cool, I have to say. But not as epic as Catch Me dance. But oh well, we will live.

6.5/10. Despite being full of praise for the video and dance, the song was a major let down.

Sweet Refrain – Perfume

Source: http://cdn.popdust.com//wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Perfume-Sweet-Refrain-Feature.jpg

FINALLY, my first Perfume review. It has been quite some time since I wanted to do a review for this trio, but sadly the songs they released recently were not to my liking, and I rather not talk about how bad their song is during their first review. I was planning to opt to an older song, but then Sweet Refrain came out in November and took me by surprised. These girls keep on churning songs and songs for the public to listen to. There are many good JPOP bands out there, but I tend to forget names quite easily. But Perfume and AAA for some reason gets stuck in my head. I don’t know if I should review AKB48 newest song just for laughs. You know, the one with the extra long name. The one with 39 words. Also, its the band with 89 members. But onto Perfume.

This song is really cool. It brings me back to the Spring Of Life and Spending All My Time, but instead this song is much more lively. Though I will never get why Japanese female groups always end up with this really annoying high pitch voice, the group’s vocals really suit the song. The more modern instrumental sounds really good. It gives this fresh feel to the song. I was not much of a fan when it came to 1mm and Magic Of Love, but this song sounds amazing. Perfume had always had really addictive songs and this probably has to be one of my favourites joining the ranks of Spring Of Life and Spending All My Time. I am literally wanting more from this band!

The music video is shot in this one shot format that has recently taken KPOP by storm. But JPOP music videos have always remained on the quirky side, and this video tones it s little bit down, but still seem quite quirky. If you have no idea what i am talking about, just talk to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. LOL. But I love the music video. I just wonder how many shots for each frame were needed for this comeback. I love the fact that they use one set only and add little things to it to make it look big. I also love it when the girls dance. They always have this really fun dance to accompany their songs. On top of that, they stand out in this video a lot. The whole music video is white, but they are dressed in black dresses, which makes them stand out. Amazing music video.

9/10. Maybe I will return to review those other songs that I am not happy with, but still this song is a major pick up from where they left off in 2012. Cannot wait for future releases from the band.

Red Candle – Son Dam Bi

Source: http://just46.justhost.com/~japakomu/dir/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/son-dam-bi-released-mv-for-red-candle.jpg

Son Dam Bi recently returned, without promotions, of a new single. After a years disappearance after releasing and promoting Dripping Tears, the soloist returned with Red Candle. Dripping Tears was an amazing song, and it seems like Son Dam Bi is returning with songs of the equivalent nature. But my question is, why has she not promoted this song? Cause this is an amazing song! Unless, there is something on the way for this solo singer?

The song has this rumba of salsa feel to it, which makes it so addictive. I don’t know why, but I have been falling for these songs for a very long time and it seems like it won’t change. Anyway, the song has a pretty addictive chorus. One that does not get me singing all the time but one that makes me go back for more. The song talks how this girl yearns for her lover and evidently from the title of the song, explains love in terms of a candle. Which is pretty poetic coming from KPOP i have to admit. I one only major complaint I have is that Son Dam Bi repeats the song title over and over again for the song. Like 15 times in the song, in English. Hmmm… Got a bit repetitive. But beside that, her voice really fit the song. It also pretty good.

The music video is pretty cool as well. I like how the music video takes a whole new spin on the lyrics and explains love in terms of the hardship of a celebrity. While they have to happy and smiling all the time in front of the camera, we really do not know what is happening behind the scenes in the celebrities lives. Hence why saesang fans are looked down upon and us, fans, place outrageous amount of pressure for them to perform. And yes, I said all of us. Its dark in many of the scenes where Son Dam Bi is alone, which kind of signifies the mood. When she is out and about, there are flashing lights and a little more colour to the picture to highlight the “happiness” in the shot, but that all sudden changes including the facial expressions of her, when she is alone. No flashing lights and no smiles. I think this video was really thought out and carefully planned, even though the comeback was quite sudden.

8.5/10. Quite happy with the release, but disappointed that she is not promoting the song, or that we have not heard any new plans for an upcoming mini album or album. (I realized that I forgot to mention this, but SHINee’s Jonghyun is pretty amazing songwriter!)

Friday – IU ft. Jang Yi Jeong (History)

Source: http://modernseoul.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/friday-iu-feat-jang-yi-jeong-2.jpg

Welcome to 2014! Did you all have a Happy New Year? I did! Hahaha… This is my first review of the year. Sadly school is restarting in a month, so I have to start doing my holiday homework, so it is going to be an awkward struggle. But don’t worry. I doubt nothing will effect the rapid speed of my reviews. They won’t be rapid once I start school though, but anything that changes will be notified to you guys, so don’t worry. Anyway, IU recently released her repackaged album, on December the 19th. The new album featured 2 new tracks and also includes the tracks from her album, Modern Times. Though no formal promotions were taken (I believe so far), she still managed to achieve a perfect all kill on the charts and remain on the charts as one of the top singers of the year!

I have to say, this song is pretty good. However it does not have me coming back to it more. I like the song more than Red Shoes, but I have to be honest, but it seems to be lost and forgotten quite easily. I have the simple feel of the song which sounds pretty good and awesome. I have to say, both voices in this song, compliment each other. Both have this husky voice which I really dig. The lyrics are quite simple, and I am thanking IU for not singing the song of the same title released 2-3 years ago. You know what i am talking about! Anyway, the lyrics too are quite simple. It is great for a song like this to come out, which allows us, as the audience, to step back from the heavy dance tracks and relax through a song that calms ourselves down!

The music video is quite interesting. I don’t get the whole new trend of one shot videos. EXO did it well, but everyone else is jumping onto the bandwagon now. Sad. However, I really enjoyed the music video. It was pretty nice and like the song too, was relaxing. Though I am unclear about Yi Jeong though. What roles does he play? The best friend who acts like a big brother? or a guardian angel? Or her make believe friend, who she ignores when she talks about love? So many roles in which he can play that has a logical explanation. The music video is quite cute, but the last scene, where she gets dragged into a dark alley. Umm… I just hope I am looking into the video a little too much there! But beside that, really cool music video.

10/10. What a way to start off the year!!! Let’s hope 2014 will bring more amazing songs like this to our ears and minds!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM KPOPreviewed!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!

It is finally Christmas and I am excited! And the year is already up. Sadly though. However, shall we continue with a more different review this time around? But before that, I just would like to wish everyone who will read this post a Merry Christmas. Enjoy your time, with family, friends or anyone else. Be thankful and be safe. Let’s enjoy the final few days of 2013 and ready to party with 2014. Anyway, today, it is really more of an impromptu review. Not score will be given for these reviews. I have review Lonely Christmas by Crayon Pop and Miracle Of December by EXO. There are however four more Christmas songs that I want to review and today will be three song reviews in one! Shall we get started???

Christmas Song – United Cube

United Cube is back with a lovely slow Christmas song that showcases the groups under A Cube Entertainment and Cube Entertainment. The artists in this song include: Beast, 4Minute, APink, G.Na, Huh Gak, Roh Ji Hoon, BTOB and Oh Ye Ri. Wow that is a lot of artists. Also included is Kim Gi Ri, the comedian for Gag Concert. The song has this soft tune that reminds you of a warm Winter’s night, like Christmas Night. Though the song starts off really slow and it takes quite a while for it enter a more Christmas-like song, by the end, you are bound to remember those warm Christmas nights with your loved ones. I think the rap was handle really well in this song which is pretty good, considering how raps tend to ruin a good song. And the whole song, vocally, sounds amazing.

 Love Falls – Romantic J

Now we are getting into the more festive songs. This song may sound like a love song, which it is. I really love the jingle bell feel of the instrumental and how the vocals in this song are not hard hitting as powerful vocals. Though Jonghyun from CNBlue does not have as much lines as Juniel, the song still sounds amazing. His husky voice fits the tone of Juniel’s voice which makes the song have this beautiful duet. The song is quite addictive and sounds really good. I have been lipsyncing to this song since it came out. Though the music video may seem more of a romantic story, the song still carries the Xmas cheer. Yay! Also, this is a duo that I would love to hear more from.

Winter Propose – Jellyfish Entertainment

This song is the only song that is really close to those Christmas carols we here every year. Not exactly what I like, but it still does. It features all the artists of Jellyfish Entertainment including: VIXX, Seo In Guk, Sung Si Kyung, Park Hyo Shin and also a mysterious female singer (do I hear a singer debuting next year?). This song sounds amazing and really has that festive cheer to the song. It combines all of the artists of Jellyfish Entertainment and amazes me a lot. Though I was not much of a fan of their previous Christmas song and also their more experienced singers, this song gives you that warm feeling that makes you remember Christmas day and eve a lot.

Snow Candy – Starship Planet

The final song which gives off the happiest Christmas feeling of the year. It features Sistar, K.Will and Boyfriend and seems the most enjoyable song out there for memories of family and friends. Again, this song, along with the others vocally sounds amazing and the rap seemed to be handle really well by Bora and the Boyfriend rappers. Of course K.Will and Hyorin holds the main vocal part of this whole company venture, but with this song, I am going to let it slide. The music video also seems to be the most festive one out of the four. Pity that Dasom from Sistar was not a part of the filming, but probably have featured in the he song somewhere. Not sure where though.

Thank you for spending another year with me. Merry Christmas to all, wherever you are on this planet. Be happy and I will see you next time!!!!

Goodbye 20 – Lim Kim

Source: http://okpopgirls.rebzombie.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Lim-Kim-Goodbye-20-MV-2.jpg

Finally a Lim Kim review. It is my first Lim Kim review and I really wanted to do Alright, but time prevented me from doing so. Sad, I know? Anyway, she debuted as solo artist this year and she comes from the duo Togewrol. The other half of the duo is Denny Do, who had to return to America before the duo could formally debut in South Korea. Alright was an awesome solo debut song, though it took time for me to like the song. Her next few releases were not that great and really lacked appeal. I felt like she returned with such an awesome song.

The song talks about a girl saying goodbye to her age of 20. For those who don’t know (like me), but I am totally sure South Korea recognises teenagers turning into adults at the age of 21. I guess I like the song because of her soulful voice which is really unique and the rough guitar instrumental, which gives the song the more down to earth and earthy feel that the song has. I also like the breakdown of the chorus which makes it sound so good. Not sure about her swearing part though, but I guess it makes sense in this song. I also like how the chorus is totally different to the rest of the song. Like totally different and has a totally different feel as well. Honestly, this is a really good song. Sadly it did not get the recognition that it should.

The music video is not what I expected. It seemed like a music video that would have been awkward to film. But anyway, the music video seemed to be quite cutesy and aegyo which really does not fit the true meaning of the song. There was a lot of balloons of all different shapes and sizes, but beside that nothing really that interesting. Oh beside her gloves on her feet. But I guess that is her way (or the director’s way) of rebelling against the age 20, or the way they would welcome the new age. But yeah, music video was not expected at all.

7/10. Still pretty good, but the music video could have summed up the song a whole heap better.

Before I leave, tomorrow is Christmas Day, which technically means todays Christmas Eve.  That being said, I would like to wish you all:

A safe, joyful and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Men In Black – M.I.B

Source: http://kpopnow.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/mib.png

This by far has to be one of the best songs of the year. Was not a fan of the song until now, but I can still do a review for it right? Well, too bad. Hahaha…. I have not reviewed an M.I.B song for a very long time. The last time was the So It’s Hard For Me, back mid last year. Now, a year and a half later, maybe a little more time to fit a new review in? They made their comeback at the end of July and have amazed fans with such a catchy song. Now, the song is called Men In Black or alternatively Dash. Their name: M.I.B does not stand for “Men In Black” but  instead “Most Incredible Busters”. Hmmm….

The song is really catchy. I am not really a fan of their songs, but I have to admit Men In Black was really good and their latest song, which I happen to forget the title, is quite catchy as well. There is this really cool electro instrumental that actually sounds pretty cool. The rapping here is much better than other songs that they have released in the past. The chorus is not addictive, but really works well. The part that is really catchy is the “modu deuri deuridae modu deuri deuridae” part. Now, there is another section in the lyrics that kind of was excessive which was good, but kind of weird. The list of clothing items the guy owns. Like a lot of “black” items. I also felt like they did a good job with the girls voice, giving the song that difference that sets it a part other songs. Really good song.

Of course when you look at the title, you think Aliens, Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, awkward spies and amazing but weird gadgets right? Well, minus the actors and the aliens, you got yourself a really awkward parody of the famous show. I assume, they get zapped by the Neuralyzer. That silver stick that “clears their memory”. I guess it clears the guys memories and they transformed into the “Men In Black” aka. M.I.B. That or they were injected with some memory drug which transformed them into what fan girls would call: Gods Of Sexiness. Awks. It was interesting, but did not really seemed to be as amazing as the song as I would have expected. Sadly so. But still pretty cool and interesting.

The dance fits the song and is really addictive. Though it is weak compared to the song and really looks like a lousy job by the choreographer, I still think the dance suits the song. Not sure about the expressionless girls though. They look creepy. Like this: (Was going to insert the picture of the Grudge here, but that would be a little too mean.)

8/10. Satisfied and one of their best comebacks yet. I like their latest song, but have not really heard the song that much nor have I seen the music video.

Gone – Jin

Okay, I have to admit it. I have been trying my very best to put off this song. I was not really thrill to do a review for this song, but since I already have done a review of a song with a audio track and live performance, I thought maybe I should change it around a bit and do a review with an audio track and a music video only. And no, that EXO member did not debut under a a female solo name. Instead he cameo in the music video, which majority of this review will be about.

The song is okay. Not the best song out there to be honest, but I guess we will have high hopes of this girl’s band when they debut under Woolim Entertainment next year. I think the vocals were lacking and quite boring in this song. There was nothing that appealed me to the voice. Though, her voice does fit the level of emotion in the song, I have to say, I am quite disappointed with the song. The song did not really build up and remained at the same level for most of the song, which is disappointing. Beside those high notes at the end though. The chorus is not as great and the song lacked a lot. Sorry.

As for the music video, wow. Finally another KPOP video with a decent plot in it, that I can understand and feel for. We are introduced to the strict piano teacher, a ill boy and a blind girl. The ill boy was just learning how to play the piano when he meets the girl. Anyway, skip forward to their next lesson. Xiumin (the boy) sees that the girl getting scolded for playing the piano horribly. Well, I would have to say, but give the blind girl a break. Xiumin goes to help and teaches the young girl, which deceives the teacher. They bond with each other afterwards. But even when they think no one is looking, it seems that the teacher has eyes everywhere. Xiumin ends up getting dragged away from the girl, but the girl only discovers his “medicine” which I don’t think she knows what it is. She becomes worried. Until one day where she senses that her true love has come back, only to have him die the next minute (maybe from his escape from the hospital). Now his body is taken away (probably to be dumped), however the teacher knows that Xiumin and the girl love each other, so he even though is quite strict, continues playing the song that Xiumin was playing before he died, to ensure the girl that he is okay. Or maybe a different hidden message. I have to say, all the acting in this video from all three parties are amazing. And the music video was beautiful plot. You get a sense when time has flown from looking at that candy jar and I am just amazed.

Though the song was not amazingly great and the music video was AMAZING, I have to give this a 7.5/10. Most of it is the video though, but still pretty good.

Though JIN was not nominated at all this year for the BOBs, you can check out the other winners, HERE!!!

Heaven – Ailee (Japanese Version)

Source: http://www.jpopsuki.tv/cache/2bf7eeb48ccba527be6e1e0d7df0dc24.jpg

Ailee recently made her debut in Japan last month, with the very song which she made her debut in Korea. Heaven, was literally reproduced into a new song with a new instrumental and lyrics in a totally different language. On top of that, a different music video was produced. It must’ve been hard on Ailee particularly recently, where she was hurt.  I think everyone knows what I am talking about. I have to say, Ailee has one of the best fan bases ever. If any artist got into a similar situation or anything milder, they would have been criticised  However, Ailee was supported by fans and strangers a like. It is great to know that there are humans still on this earth and faith can be restored. She made her Japanese debut early last month.

The song has a new instrumental. This one has more of an orchestral feel to it which I actually like, though I do prefer the Korean version of the song more. This version basically got updated and sounds amazing As per usual, Ailee’s vocals are superb and really she sounds amazing. If this instrumental was with the Korean lyrics, this song would have been a chart topper from the very beginning. There is this epic feel that the Korean version lacked, while this version lacks emotion and feelings. Do you understand? It is hard to explain properly, but beside that, the song is amazing.

The music video was recreated for the Japanese song. I like the floating clouds, but the setting seems to constricted to watch. The Korean version looked bright and suited the tone of the song. This version however, the lighting sucked and the music video looked like a video shot for a more creepy concept. There is no focus on “heaven” but instead only on the darkness of the video and the only thing that stands out is her white dress. It seems like not enough was invested into this debut music video. I don’t know Japan’s opinion towards Ailee or if she is even popular in Japan, but seriously, a lot more could’ve been done.

I don’t believe that there has been a live performance of this song yet. The music video did not really focus on a dance at all. So, I really “judge” the dance. I could copy and paste my dance review for the Korean version, but I have a feeling maybe the dance also changed?

7/10. Still pretty good and amazing. But the Korean version is much better. I was planning to do a poll, but I won’t be around to post anything that much, since it is the end of the year. However I did post a poll last week for “Which Nine Muses song did you like from the year?”. The most popular song of the year from Nine Muses is Wild with 63% of the votes. Congrats Wild!!!

This version of the song was nominated for Best Japanese Song, while Ailee herself was nominated for Best Soloist! Did she win both? Check it out HERE!!!

Heaven’s Door – Eric Nam

I have been dying to review this song since forever. Sadly it got cut from my list, because of some factors (i.e. most likely because I did not have enough time to be able to sit down and right a full proper review of this song). This was his debut song into the KPOP world and wow, was it an amazing song. Released way back in January 2013, which technically means it has been around a year since this guy promoted his song. Yeah, so I guess my review is “kind of” a year late. Oh well, at least I am doing it. Hahahaha… Please feel sorry for me. I am writing this is 40 degree weather which is extremely hot. Not thinking right.

I don’t know why. But I like Eric’s voice. There is a bit soul and a lot of feelings in the vocals. It actually took me surprised when I first heard the song. I agree with most of the comments under the music video. I do believe that “Heaven’s Door” actually mean “Gateway to Death”. So… I think everything just go so awkward. Though it seems in this context, “Heaven’s Door” actually means the “Gateway to Happiness”. A literal or a subtle way of thinking it. Your choice hahaha… The instrumental is quite upbeat, so it gave it a fresh feel. While songs in Winter tend to be warm or sad, this song is like a Summer song, where it is upbeat and bound to make you happy. South Korea at that time would be in Winter, hence why I made they comment. I actually liked the song in both Summer and Winter. The song is amazing.

The music video is so so. It looks amazing, but at the same time so cheesy. It seems like he has no idea where he is going. Deciding which road to go down. And why are the signals for both directions on his car flashing at the same time???? WHY??? (Sorry, I have been learning how to drive a car here, so…) I think he leaves clue for the girl to find so she can go to him. But wouldn’t that be weird. Like stalk-ish weird? Anyway, his facial expression in some scenes are quite funny, but I have to admit, he is quite handsome. Damn, I am jealous. Look how cheesy the music video was when he is lying in the snow and thinking of this “girlfriend”. Why in quotation marks? Cause I have no idea if he is confessing his love and that he seems to be more comfortable with his love around his dog. At the end, when the dog outside was barking to get Eric’s attention… Umm… He looked quite warm in that jumper, so why did he change into something more thinner? The mysteries of life.

There is no dance to this song, which is a good thing, because if there was a dance, it would ruin the song. Seriously.

8.5/10. This debut was awesome and seriously, we all have high expectations for this guy in the future. Can’t wait until his next release.

Eric Nam was nominated for Best Male Rookie and Best Soloist! Did he win one of them at the BOBs (I am blowing this out of proportion a lot)? Find out HERE!!!!

Do You Feel Me? – Mr.Mr

Source: http://i.imgur.com/vTkymFs.jpg

Mr.Mr recently made their comeback with “Do You Feel Me” on the 8th of November, which technically means it is a recent song. They made two previous comebacks this year: Waiting For You and Highway (which I never got to review). All fo their songs are really catchy and I enjoy listening to this band. Why are they not more known in the industry? Why are they just overshadowed by other bands? I don’t get this.

This song is amazing. End of the story. End of the review. Not if, no buts. Seriously, I really cannot be pleased and enjoyable with any other song. It has this Justin Timberlake feel to it. When I listen to this song, I think of Apologize by Timbaland featuring Onerepublic. It was those days that I enjoyed. Such a cool song back then and still is. No Judging! No, but this song is really amazing. There is a lot of class in this song and it has a a lot of emotions in such a subtle way which makes me enjoy the song even more. The instrumental is really addictive and the vocals as well. I am slo really impressed with the rap of the song. It really gives this song this more of a punch to the song and leads really well into the final chorus of the song. The “Hey, Hey” part of the songs really does sound amazing and so does the “Do You Feel Me?“.

The music video is filmed in the same set in which I believe Volume Up and so many other songs are filmed in. Those music videos were so so, but this music video fits the song really well. I guess in the music videos, the guys are statues or dolls or something along the lines of that, but because the girl touches them, they spring into life and starts dancing. Talking about freaky stuff. But then I guess the guys falls in love with her. My question is why the girls leaves the guys? Too much to handle? Or maybe the guys were forbidden to talk to and hence why there was a lock on the door before you entered? I guess I am speculating. But the lighting and flying snow makes the music video really great.

The dance is amazing as well. It is quite smooth and classy with the microphone stands. Even if they are not singing into the microphones. Yeah, I see those microphones on you faces. They record you singing live, not the hand held ones. Muahahaha…

9.5/10. I am just deducting half a mark for the confusing state the video is in, but beside that nothing else. This comeback is amazing and the best comeback by the band yet.
