Hope Torture – Song Ji Eun (Secret)

Source: http://xiahpop.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/song-ji-eun-hope-torture-XIAHPOP-770×472.jpg

Song Ji Eun, today, made her official comeback as a solo artist, with Hope Torture. It has been two years since we have seen anything from the singer, beside her usual Secret promotions. Back then, she paired up with Bang Yong Guk for Going Crazy, which became a hit to fans of both artists. Since then however, she returned with her group through songs such as Starlight Moonlight, Love Is Move, Poison, Talk That and YooHoo, along with numerous Japan singles like Madonna (Jap Ver), Love Is Move (Jap Ver) and Twinkle Twinkle, just to name a few. It is so great that we finally get to hear a song from her and with the official album release and music video release today, making fans, along with me excited. Not to mention that she has already made her comeback on the weekly music shows, last week.

Okay, the song is rather slow. I listened to the live performance, the music video and the release, but I find way too slow for me. I find it too does not fit Song Ji Eun’s style. However, I still find the song attractive and great to listen to. Yeah, I maybe bias just a little, but hell, I find this song so great. Many songs are about falling in love or an emotional breakup, but not many songs focuses on that thin ice or that thread of string that many people hold onto. In this song however, it is referred to that last piece of hope that is thrown away by one, but their partner holds onto it, facing the torture of love. Really poetic. I love the little English phrases scattered throughout the song, it adds that extra RnB touch to it. Also, her little al-lib at the end was pretty cool, on top of that the pretty epic sounding instrumental. As I said, I dig violins. I should learn how to play one, shouldn’t I?

Wow, the music video is really artistic. They portrayed in her in a way, where she looks beautiful in the video, but when she looks sad, we feel the emotion too. To me, the ending is such a show stopper. They use a light background, but then fade into a depressing and sad tone. That scene where that cake was destroyed (what a waste of cake) really showed the build up in the emotion, which actually links in the music video, where at one part she remembers her lover, but the very next moment, she hates him again. The dead spiral of leaves and branches, along with the burning guitar and sunflower added more to the scene that really gives that extra umph to to which makes it pretty cool. I am not sure about the hole in the hand part and the nail. Are they trying link something to Jesus, cause I don’t really understand much. Torture yeah, but that would raise a lot of controversies would it not?

As for the performance, she sounds amazing live. Great for all. Not sure about the dancers, because despite being a slow song and the dancers are dancing with very slow movements, this song really does not need the use of dancers. Oh and the dresses she wears are pretty beautiful. Not from my experience, but the point of views of others.

8.5/10. Pretty amazing. Maybe a little fine tuning in some parts, but seriously overall, I think she is going to do really well. That or I blame the slaughter of comebacks and debuts all schedule for tomorrow and beyond. Sorry, I was rather busy with my homework yesterday, so i could not upload Leessang’s review, but I will try to get it done tonight.

Stupid In Love – Mad Clown ft. Soyu (Sistar)

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/soyu-mad-clown1.jpg

Mad Clown recently signed with Starship-X entertainment, the sub label company of Starship Entertainment which houses Sistar, K.Will and Boyfriend. He collaborated and debuted with Stupid In Love, with Sistar’s Soyu featuring in the song. Now I am not sure about Mad Clown too much, but I think he was on that rapping show awhile back or something. Not really that sure about the whole thing. Anyway, the song itself recorded an all kill on the day of its release, proving to be a big hit. It too has been nominated over and over again to be first place on the weekly music shows, but have fallen short to G Dragon and Kara. However, they are still proving to be a hit, as it is still one of the hottest songs to come out so far.

As soon as I heard the song, I was totally amazed. The rapper did a really good job showing how much effort and emotion he can put into the song through his rapping. It was powerful and by far one of the best male rappers I have heard since starting out with KPOP. Soyu as well did a splendid job with her vocals and sounded really, really amazing. Honestly, I would did any song that these two will do in the future, together. I am glad that they did not put in Hyorin into this song, as I find that sometimes her voice is too powerful and may conflict with the song. The lyrics were also quite sad. They talked about how a couple feels when their love is about to end. So beautiful, so sad.

There really isn’t any music video, except for something that lasts like less than a 1 minute However, I find the complexity of the music video fits the song. It is not simple as the two are on a white background with black and white lighting, making the whole thing look pretty cool. However, the I am not too sure about the crow outfit that Soyu was wearing. Kind of looked creepy. Hey Soyu, that the perfect costume to wear for Halloween, which is a little over a month away.

The only complaint I am gonna make with the performance is that the two have very expressionless faces on when they are singing. Like no emotion. They guy seems too hard to remember the lyrics, so he probably forgot about his face, but Soyu? She literally sings the same set of lyrics twice in the song.

9.5/10. Really amazing. Will love more from this duo.

Can You Love Me? – 5Dolls ft. Dani (T-Ara N4)

5Dolls (the six-member group) recently made their comeback onto the stage after promotions of Soulmate #1, with their repackaged mini album, First Love. This song also marks the debut of Dani, the long awaited trainee that was meant to be a part of T-Ara, but a lot of stuff happened and the company don’t really know where to put her. Little more on that a little longer. But I think the company is starting to confuse the number 5 with 7. Okay, they got a little confuse with the name 5Dolls when there were 6 members, but now 7 people on stage? I think someone needs to go back to counting class.

The song is boring. It does not really appeal to me and I find this the worst song that I can possibly ever listen to. Okay, maybe I am exaggerating it a bit, but seriously, there was not one bit in this song that I would call “amazing”. Most of it was average and honestly, it does not appeal to many people around there. Maybe they were taking a step away from their previous disco phase, but this song is not the right way to go. Ballads are not really 5Doll’s piece of cake, let alone Coed School. And that song that they released after this one, that too was really awful. Another thing: this song is not promoting 5Dolls. No, it is promoting Dani and only Dani. Nothing is focused on the band, but Dani. For the love of KPOP, she is just “featuring” in the song but it seems like CCM are making this her breakthrough song. Oh, by the way, her rap was awful.

The music video is not any worse. But it was equally as boring. There is actually nothing to say about the video, so I am going to skip over that part. As for the live performance, the dance was rather weak but fitted the song. As for CCM promoting Dani than 5Dolls, yeah, evident with the eye-catching uniform that Dani wears. It is like Dani formed her own group and 5Dolls are the backup dancers. Come on. She could’ve at least walked onto the stage when it was her turn and then left.

1/10. Soz. Not good at all. I actually prefer Soulmate #1 then this song.

Crooked – G-Dragon (Big Bang)

Source: http://i1.wp.com/24-7kpop.COM/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/G-Dragon.png?resize=770%2C472

G-Dragon recently returned with his latest two part album. Previously, we have already reviewed Coup D’etat which did not do well in terms in the review. However, while that was the title song on the first part of the album, the second part of the album was  much better and the song will be getting a much better review. I think he already has won 2 awards for this song, as it gets confusing because like all of his tracks are on the charts and when they say “G Dragon won this week’s award”, it is not exactly that we won that award for Coup D’etat or Crooked. I am sure Black and some other song are on the charts as well. Now many people are saying this and honestly I think too, but is it me or YG is having a lot of flops this year. It seems like Big Bang is the only thing now YG has up his sleeve to gain back the crowd. SM has taken over the scene a lot.

The song is definitely much better than Coup D’etat. Way better. I love the pop feel this song carries and also that hint of sadness that you can hear in the song. The song is very modern. As soon as I heard G-Dragon singing, it seemed pretty cool. The chorus is pretty catchy, being the highlight of the song for me. Not technically fond of the verse, but loving the moments before the chorus which G Dragon sings. Honestly, I think this song will do well as a club song. Imagine all the people jumping around to the music, not knowing what it even means. That little vocal part at the end was pretty amazing as well. Pretty good for the lead rapper of the band.

The music video is pretty cool as well. We see what seems to be a high end (or try hard or insane partygoer or persistent underage kid) person trying to make his way into the clubs, which of course he is denied. And because of that he gets angry and cries? Throwing a little hissy pissy much? And the crying seemed a little exaggerating, which is quite disappointing but still worked. Not sure about his successive outfit changes in one music video. I counted 18 outfits changes and heck, I am not even at the end of the video. Most of the changes were in the first 1 minute, which is quite a lot of outfits for one video. While counting however, I did notice one scene. GD, are you really pissing on the wall? Cause that is really traumatising. On top of that, we see a neglected GD, where his acting was quite fine. I feel for you mate, if that ever happens to you.

I did not like the live performance that much. Not really impressed with the dance. I was just watching G Dragon’s stage for this song, and wow, I really like it how he actually has a stage made for him only. Pretty amazing.

8/10. Much better than Coup D’etat. Way better. Let’s just wait for more music videos to come out for his other songs. Also, I don’t think I will be reviewing any more G Dragon videos anymore. There are like another two coming out. Have not made an exact decision yet, but it is most likely going that way.

Thriller – BTOB

BTOB is finally back with a new song and a much more mature and serious side. Their last comeback, Second Confession, was the aegyo, cutesy boy style. However this song, it seems the boys has taken the whole term of sexy and seduction to a whole new level. That was weird of me to say that. Not but seriously, which band comes out with a song and all of these teasers of abs that no girls have ever seen. I had to check that fact with one of my friends, and she confirms it. Hardly do BTOB fans get to see the guys abs or them shirtless. However, enough with eye candy, but do I find this song awesome and cool like it is said to be? Keep on reading below!!!!

The song is pretty good. However, if I was to compare it to he other songs that they released in the past, the song is still lacking. It sounds amazing, but does not have that flowing effect like 2nd Confession or Wow. This song sounds choppy and awkward in many parts. Truthfully, the band should go back to their Wow days where their songs were amazing and ranked high on the charts. Songs with this level of seriousness, to me, does not fit the band that well. The song itself mixes up rap and vocals, but to me, it sounds pretty messy. Moving along, the vocals and the raps on their own sounds pretty cool, but the raps did not sound as strong as in previous songs. The chorus is not technically the best, where the verses actually sound much better. It is a great song (digging the violin instrumental), but some parts were not as great.

The music video is pretty cool. As per usual, the music videos from Cube are not a let down. Adding to the “Thriller” feel, we get a dark feeling in the music video, which somewhat accompanies the song. Honestly, I feel the song is quite different to the music video altogether. In comparision between the two, I feel the song is too poppish for the video. You know? But I like the dark feeling that this video has, which leads to me second point. Those who agree that BTOB are copying VIXX because of the dark theme, you are clearly wrong. I actually remember a million bands before VIXX doing this type of music including Super Junior, MBLAQ, SHINee, Brown Eyed Girls etc. Just because one band is good at doing a style, it does not mean that others will copy them. It is like saying Girl’s Day, Orange Caramel, Secret and 4Minute are all copying SNSD because of Gee. Logical these is applicable. One thing that I am most concerned about: one green “thriller”. Not really that great, but it seems too ‘pop culture like” to be in the music video. We have a cemetery and then green thriller. We have a spider webs and skulls, turn around and you have the word thriller in slime font and green. Not the best addition to the music video.

Honestly, don’t get me started with the dance. I am really disappointed. The start seems awful and the hand position when they move about curing the chorus seems unoriginal. Really, you guys look like monkeys having trouble keeping your head up while moving.

5.5/10. Quite disappointed with this comeback. Go back to Wow or Second Confession. I don’t mind the aegyo phase of these boys anyway. Did you like the comeback? Comment below!

Damaged Lady – Kara

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/kara_damaged_lady.jpg

After a year, girl group Kara is finally back with a brand new album ready to rock the stage. Damaged Girl was released on the 2nd of September and since have been proving to be a hit, even winning an award on a music show and possibly a few more in the future. It has been sometime since we last saw the girls in Korea and really, what a powerful song to comeback with. I think something suspicious is occurring. I am just happen to be googling around to find something to write here and came over this: their first album (which was their debut album) was called “The First Blooming”, since then, there have no “blooms” whatsoever, but a “Full Bloom” album (which is this one). Suspicious or not, I don’t know.

I love the rock and roll feel to the song that it has. I think I fell in love the song for those parts. The instrumental really does fit the vocals of the band, which is pretty cool. There are a few things that I am quite confused about and don’t actually like this song. The song is great and all, but why Buddha?  There are like lines in this that say, “I am not like Buddha” which are great in a way, as Buddha is like an icon for calmness and mediation, but as a Buddhist, I find this used wrongly. It does make sense, however, I expected different words to be used in the second part of the song, but we did not get any, which is quite disappointing. Another thing I dislike about the song was the rap. It just felt like the producer slotted a rap sequence in and made it sound good. And another part was that high note at the start and that “oww!” part. This is not Michael Jackson. This song is about love and rock and roll (in a way) but that high note just conflicts with the song. Overall, I liked the song a lot, just some areas need a bit of more work.

The music video is okay. Not the best music video, but not the worst. We see girls who are dating these guys, who turns out to be hitting on with other girls. Guys, try being a little more subtle with her cheating. I should be promoting cheating on your partner, but I think everyone (whether you are in a relationship or not) hitting on with another girl in front of your girlfriend is not that well played. Anyway, the girls have had enough, so they decide to show the guys who is the boss around here, thus changing into a more dominant and masculine clothing and showing the guys what they are really made out of. Great plot, but the music video is quite weak. A sign of breaking up from this music video is shoving buns and food into the guys mouth; using the fire extinguisher and turning on the water sprinkler system and dancing around in the water. What??? I am not even going to ask.

As for the dance, I thought it was pretty cool. It is about breaking up and I love the “throwing the ring that you gave me ” dance. It looked rather real. And that butt pocket dance part was cool as well. Just next time girls, actually have butt pockets. You complete the guy look with the butt pockets and the clothes you are wearing. Did I also mention how amazing they looked?

7.5/10. Pretty good, but could’ve have been enhanced a little bit more. But honestly,
If you have not yet listened to the song, you must, or you will be missing out. Check out the music video and performance in the playlist below.

Coup D’etat – G-Dragon (Big Bang)

Source: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cLxTRX5Vs4E/UiQYRAm44tI/AAAAAAAAVSc/KkC2h8Vy1nM/s1600/gdragon-coup-d’etat-mv-screencap-2.PNG

The leader of Big Bang is back with this second album, Coup D’etat. One of the title songs used from this album is Coup D’etat. As you can see this song is exactly the albums name and also the focus on today’s review. After a successful run of promotions last year with his singles Crayon, That XX and One Of A Kind ; and Seungri’s Gotta Talk To You, he is back to rock the stage with his new songs. With this, Taeyang  will soon be having his comeback and Big Bang had just announced that they will be returning in October with a new single. Looks like YG will be very busy when it comes to the end of the year.

The song is quite boring. Honestly, I don’t think this song should be receiving the attention it is getting. There are much better songs out there at the moment, that deserve the level attention that this song is getting.  On top of that, I found the song quite unappealing. I listened to it once, never actually ever touched it again. It is lacking quite a bit and really does not live up to its standard that Crayon had set. It does mildly epic for a small amount of time. Okay, I am not a big fan of hip hop, but this song is rather slow and disappointing. Also that part where he incorporates part of Crayon into the song, seems like he borrowed off a successful song and just carried it over. This rapping skills in this song aren’t that great compared to much better song Crooked.

As for the music video, YG always does best to mash up a whole heap of different scenes that make no sense whatsoever. I get some bits with the gun wound part, the laundry house scene (which looks quite like a kitchen to me) as their are direct references to the song. But the scenes where he is a ninja at the end and the scene with him taking off his mask, kind of confused me a little bit. Maybe I am not looking into it hard enough, but it really throws me off. Oh and where are the controversies with his “taking the mask off his face” scene? Usually there would’ve been a lot of criticisms about that, but where have they gone. He uploaded a picture once like that, which made people angry. So where are those angry people?

The dance, yeah, not as great and energetic as Crayon. And what is with YG or G-Dragon’s favourite thing about his backup dancers? The faces are so not covered in this performance (Note Sarcasm was used here). I am just watching MNET’s performance, and there seemed to be inefficient lighting. Planned or a mistake made by the broadcaster, but it looks like G Dragon relied on the candles in front him. And what was the final scene for? Kind of scary though. Hahahahahaha…. G Dragon, why do you always give me nightmares?

1/10. Mildly better that CL’s song though, but still not appealing and I am very disappointing.

Rocking – Teen Top

Source: http://i1.wp.com/24-7kpop.COM/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/TEEN-TOP-rocking-dance-version.png?resize=770%2C472

Teen Top is back with a new song that has topped charts instantly. Rocking is totally a “rocking” song that gets everyone up and moving. It has everything from the hip hop to the dub step beat we are wanting to hear. Honestly, this is the best Teen Top song I have heard ever and I think the band has improved greatly from Clap. Their last release of Miss Right came out earlier in the year in March, doing strongly on the charts, however this was the song that won them more awards. Considering they have a huge fan base and the level of competition they now have now that Kara and G Dragon are back, they are holding off pretty well.

The song is pretty great. I love the instrumental and feel that a different side of the band is coming out. Not that manly and masculine side that we are used to seeing, but a more mature and hardcore side of the band. I really like the vocals in this song and the raps fit in really well. In my point of view, best Teen Top song ever. Every time I listen to it, I am amazed with it. I think it is going to become a song that I am going to listen to forever and forever. Up there with Brown Eyed Girl’s Sixth Sense, Girls Day’s Expectation and Female President, Dasoni’s GoodBye etc. Amazing.

The sets for the music video were pretty cool. Not too bright or not too dark, which did fit the feel of the song. However with the random scenes of a room filled with hats really did not settle down with me well. Why a room full of hates. I kind of get the room of gold, but hats??? And I am pretty confused with the rest of the video where the guys are at the beach and having a punch on. But then it all made kind of sense why they had a punch on towards the end. Turns out that one member is jealous of another member for dating this girl. Ummm.. maybe some indication next time somewhere at the start?

As for the performance, yeah, the dance was pretty professional. It seems like the guys put their all in this song. Well, most. C.A.P mate, you need to not look like you are tired or really just lazy. I think I kind of found the new T.O.P expression. But overall, the dance was amazing. That b-boying (I think it is what it is called) dance was pretty cool.

9/10. Amazing song, pretty cool music video and amazing choreography.

Tonight – Spica

Source: http://static1.allkpop.com/upload/2013/08/af_org/SPICA_1377293831_af_org.jpg

Spica recently made their comeback with a brand new digital single, Tonight. One of the best songs of the year so far, Spica has not been on stage for quite sometime. You know those groups who debut and then just disappear because they have not made it? Yeah, I thought that was what had happened to Spica. They have disappeared for near three quarters of a year, and I was quite disappointed. This is a really good vocal group that needs to win. I cannot stand to see them on 6th place and lower on other music charts. Seriously, this song is awesome and deserving to be higher on the charts.

The song is really well done. This group is known to have amazing vocals, but hey, this song showcases that and even more. I literally love every aspect of the song as it is amazing. From the instrumental to the rap to the vocals, I was literally blown away with this song. I thought Lonely and I’ll Be There were awesome but this song probably tops those. Also would probably add that this is the song of the summer. It has that refreshing and cool feel that makes you feel like you are at the beach.

As for the music video though, I was quite iffy about where my thoughts lie upon the line. I am not really quite impressed, but I feel that the song fits the video. But it also seems that this band is not getting the full funding that they should be. Coloured powder paint was so last year. Actually no, it was a few years ago. It has that feel that After School Red did for their music video, witht hat desert kind of theme to it, which I never actually liked. Honestly, a bit more expression on the girls faces would be better, as they look they have no expression, don’t care about life, or that “get me out of here” look which they share. And those girls, why are you dancing on the road? Don’t you know the dangers of cars and at night? Also, some season, they look quite drunk and really “out of it” if you know what I mean. I love the ending though, where they watch a sunrise, which is amazing. Fits the song perfectly.

I am IN LOVE with this stage performance. The dance to the costumes (actually, I will take it back) is amazing. The dance formations are totally cool and the dance just make me want to get up and dance. Woo! Awesome. The chorus was pretty cool and the dance is not that hard to follow. Trust me.

9/10. Mainly because of the music video.

Have fun….

1.4.3 – Henry (Super Junior M) ft. Amber (F(x))

Source: http://www.soompi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/henry143_teaser-540×304.jpg

Henry, the latest solo act from SM Entertainment, recently made his comeback with his re-released 1-4-3. He previously released this song on his mini album, with only himself in the song, but as his repackaged and follow up song, he (or the company) had added Amber to the song, to give it a much cool feel to it. A lively summer song, 1-4-3 basically means “I Love You” (yes I do) and symbolises the amount of letters there are in each word. Pretty smart as well. The song also mentions 4-8-6, which basically means the same thing, but in Korean and it symbolises the amount of strokes it takes to write each letter or syllable. The rap of the two songs are completely different and made the song completely different, Understand or not?

The song was released twice, once with Henry’s rap and the other with Amber’s rap. Both raps make the song mildly different. To me, Henry’s version sounded great, but the rap kind of sounded out of place with the rest of the song. In Amber’s version, the song sounded lie it flowed much better and sounded great as well. It can be agreed, in my head, that this is a really good summer song that sounds amazing. The only thing I am going to pick on even further is that the song sounded like it went forever. Maybe a great thing, but the song seemed to be dragged out quite a bit and really did not have the same level of impact to me at the end, as it did at the start. It was a great song. but I really lost my mojo after the first chorus. Maybe the instrumental was the problem, but I loved the pop beat to it. The chorus is also quite catchy and honestly, the song is title is quite smart. BLOW YOUR MIND!

Despite being a music video outside of the box, I thought it was quite boring. I seriously did not like the music video as much as I thought I did. It really did not live up to the exact standard as the song created, which was quite disappointing. The music video basically tells the story of how a girl got confused, but soon realized about what the number 1,3,4 basically mean. (To be honest, I didn’t realize as well). Honestly, I thought Amber looked much better in this video than what henry looked like and that blonde hair does not suit him. I think I have to settle with this decision, but for really dry plot music videos, please put them in a box. Seriously, I don’t get all the different scenes and that it seemed quite choppy.

I cannot resist myself, but there were quite a lot of crotch grabbing in this dance. Essentially, this dance is much more jumpy and lively and better, compared to Trap. The dance at at the chorus was pretty cool and I think this actually helps Henry live up the standard of being a dancer.

7.5/10. I liked it and all, but had to deduct marks off for the music video. Sorry. My question to you is: which Henry Lau song did you enjoy? Trap? 1-4-3? Or maybe another song off his mini albums?Put your say in the poll below! ^^ Also, both 2NE1 songs were liked equally. Both getting 2 votes each. Let’s see which song will win for Henry, shall we???

Tell Me Love – History

Source: http://kpopconcerts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/HISTORY_TellMeLove.jpg

History recently made their comeback after a successful run of promotions for their debut song, Dreamer. They released their latest song, Tell Me Love, took a turn for the more “typical” boy band feel, but with a twist. Seriously guys, if the band does the same song style over and over, they are going out much more quicker than you blowing out a candle. Many bands change their style once in a while to “stand out”. yes, History’s debut song did “stand out”, however what are the chances of you listening to a similar style song. You will just get get bored of it. So you people, who claim to love History because they were “unique”, your argument is really invalid. Big Bang, for example has done, ballads, pop songs, dance tracks, hip hop, rap etc. If Big Bang kept on releasing hip hop songs, they would never have been big as they are now today.

I liked the song. It was not as grand as Dreamer, however still sounds amazing. If you listen carefully, you can hear a mish mash of genres. There is a ballad feel to the song, a dance, hip hop , you name it. Combined together, it sounds pretty cool. I love all aspects of the song from the vocals to the soft feel in some parts to the hardcore feel and upbeat feel the chorus has. I honestly don’t see any other band doing a similar song to this. YEs, the band may enter the “no go zone” but it sounds really professional and well polished. The vocals and rapping (that fifth member has more than talking this time around) were pretty cool. I am going to be quite picky though. The title, sounds really weird. “Tell Me Love”. Yes you brain may put in the comma, but say it without the comma. I was typing out the title for this song and thought, yeah maybe I got it wrong. Turns out, it was right and my mind was playing tricks on me.

Yeah, I honestly have to say lose the first part where the guys are just talking freely to the camera. Great concept, not the brightest idea for this kind of song though. To a foreigner, and I watched the video prior to the subtitles coming out, you look like a total idiot with no voice coming out of your mouth. A recent trend I see in videos nowadays it that they have all these weird computer generated waves that make listen to music all that good, but seeing them while flashing really does not look as great as you would expect it. But despite that, I love the bright white set/background and the lights during the chorus. Bit hypocritical of myself, but it looked quite professional and fitted the song quite well. Honestly the music video was pretty good, minus the first minute or so.

Yeah, this band is not great at dancing. Better than me though, but it is the song that this group depends heavily on to get their song. Their dance moves are not catchy, but I guess they do the job quite well,

7/10. Pretty good, could’ve been better though. And shut up, unloyal fans, You don’t like something, then don’t watch. It is quite easy.

Wild And Young – Kang Seung Yoon

Source: http://upload.enewsworld.net/News/Contents/20130731/30001176.jpg

Kang Seung Yoon was formerly a contestant on a Korean talent show, where from which he signed with YG Entertainment, the home of Big Bang, Se7en, 2NE1 and the world phenomenon, Psy. He made his debut on the July 31st on the stage as a solo artist. It must also be noted: he did release “It’s Rain” as a pre released single, and despite not promoting the song in anyway, achieve an all kill on the charts. He is also a singer that is awaiting to debut under a group name later in the future. He released this song, on his debut date, achieving what I think shall be called as “minimal success”.

Yes, as mentioned above, this song technically failed. I did not perform greatly on the charts as his pre released single. Honestly, he has a good voice, but the song does not suit him. Ballads is what he has in the bag, but giving him a One Direction feel song really ruined the idea of a mellow and deep voice, like his. I found the boring quite boring. It lacked emotion. His ballad was pretty amazing, and his second song (I was planning to review it, but decided to cut it out due to a last minute decision), Stealer, sounded ten times better than this. However, despite not liking the song and finding it boring, it had a pretty nice instrumental and a catchy part. “Cause I’m wild and young“. However, the instrumental really conflicted the voice he has. His voice is quite husky, and YG is not using it to its full potential. Overall, boring song, with some good points, but really boring for me.

As for the music video, am I the only person who thought he looked like a penguin for most of the video? Seriously, anything with a white belly, looks suspiciously like a penguin to me, regardless if there is a beak or not. Again, the music video was quite boring. There are just scenes of him rocking out with friends, and some of himself as a loner. Cause you all know, that you are “wild and young” when you are by your self. No, okay. Not I really thought the music video was low budget. YG, I don’t think you are doing it right. You are basically throwing away a good voice. And those microphone cords? Oh geeez, wireless is the new wires my friend. Have not seen a wired microphone in so long, which goes to show that is not “young”.  That filter as well, disappointed. Not gave that 80’s or 90’s feel to it, which looked OLD.

As for the live performance, it is just him singing with a band. Simple, but fits the feel of the song really well.

2.5/10. Boring basically sums up the review and song. Sorry, if I made you fall asleep.

MaMaMa – Tasty

Source: http://www.mtvk.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/tasty-mamama-mv.png

Tasty is finally back with a brand new song, which in my point of view is 10 times better then their debut song. Tasty debuted last year with You Know Me (which I never reviewed, because I hated the song so much). This time around, nearly a year later, they came back with a new song called MaMaMa, which sounds amazing. Add Spectacular to the song, and you got a really cool medley. I totally find this song amazing and obviously, you should as well. Released only two weeks ago, this song has wowed fans with what this duo can do.

The song is really well done. I love it much more than their debut song. However, it is rather short. Like too short. They should’ve made this song a good 3 minutes, not the 2 and a half minutes and little extra. I must applaud Infinite H for contributing to the production of the song. Probably, the best song released this year so far. Well, one of the best. Seriously, I love the instrumental and the lyrics. Oh the lyrics talk about how a guy wishes time does not pass (or instead he could just tell his girl to not look at the clock) because we wants to send so much time with the girl. Actually, to be honest, despite it being a short song, I thought they would not have repeated the same line for 3/4 of the song. The line in question is: “Ttan nom chyeodaboji ma AM PM sigye chyeodaboji ma (Don’t look at other guys, AM PM, don’t look at the clock)”. Quite disappointed with that. I do, also like the breakdown dance part of the song. It gives the song that more uplifting feel to the song, which I like a lot.

The music video was okay, Not the best out there, but still pretty good. However some parts were kind of confusing. Firstly, lets take member A, who is standing with his girl next to his car, and member B walks past. Member A all of a sudden starts staring at this brother like he is after him or something. It looked creepy and not the look that I would give another man (let alone my own brother) if they were staring at my girl. Also, I do apologize about the lack of names in this review. They are twins, if you have not notice and really, it is so hard to tell them apart. That dance breakdown part, where the members and then the girl all start clapping together. Cute, but it did not fit the feel of the song or the video. I like the monotone set which they went for this time, with that streak of bright pink.

The dance is pretty cool I love the “AM PM” part, because it depicts the clock and also adds more to the song. Oh the literal meaning that I take from things. Seriously, this is a really cool dance and showed new and old fans what this duo is all about. It shows off a style in which many boy bands in KPOP don’t really show that well.

8/10. Pretty cool. Loving it much more than Spectrum. So what do you think? Should this song be lengthen or should it just stay the same length????

Do You Love Me? – 2NE1

Source: http://cdn.popdust.com//wp-content/uploads/2013/07/2NE1-Falling-In-Love-Feature1.jpg

2NE1 has made their comeback with a new song after their release of Falling In Love and they have been keeping to their schedule of releasing a song every month. Last month we saw a more feminine side of the band with their reggae themed song, Falling In Love. This time around we got a dance heavy track, which is bound to make you guys all jump (not as much as Crayon Pop’s Bar Bar Bar). Hands up if you got that!!!! Hahahahaha…. That is me being weird. Honestly the song has not been performing as well on the charts as many has been expecting, rising and then dropping quite quickly. Do You Love Me only won one award so far, but still is not dropping as quickly as many antis expected.

The song is much more poppish and dancey compared to Falling In Love. It is a song that you would find at a club and many people dancing to it. I love the very start of the song. with that swaying like instrumental. I have to admit though, the bass was a little too much in the song. When CL starts singing, I basically fell in love with the song. The chorus is quite the let down in the song, which sounded awkward. Do You Love Me was repeated like a million times in the song to the point where it got a little annoying. Bom’s part were quite lacking, living up to her standards as the artist who has the worst control with her voice. Dara, finally has a song where she is not autotuned. I also love the ending of the song where everything goes all quiet for a second and bang, they launch back right into the song. Not like I Am The Best, that the company had compared it too, but still a pretty cool song.

The music video was quite horrible. I understand the the whole point that the band had a tight schedule and did not have enough time to shoot a full scale music video to impress their fan, but this music video was quite horribly done. I would’ve honestly just delayed the comeback. Like, a “home made video” for something that is meant to captivate fans? I applaud YG for doing something different, but he should’ve known that there were going to be more cons for this than pros. I also hate that filter to give that more antique look. That or the company needs to invest in a more in a much better camera. You are meant to be a dance song, not something I would find in the 1930’s.

The dance is still pretty feminine. Still good however. I love the start. But it does not carry that 2NE1 feel that we all want from the band. Quite disappointed, but still pretty cool.

6/10. Yeah, song was great. Music video and dance not that great. My question to you is: which 2NE1 song did you like more? Falling In Love or Do You Love Me? Answer in the poll below.

24 Hours – Sunmi

Source: http://static1.allkpop.com/upload/2013/08/af_org/sunmi_1377245181_af_org.jpg

Sunmi, a former member (or is she still a part of the band JYP?) recently made her solo debut and her first comeback since leaving the band in 2010, making this her first comeback to the stage in 3 years. Regardless of whatever has happened, she made her comeback with 24 Hours on the 20th of August and became an instant hit with fans, with many “Wonderfuls” supporting her with her debut. Since she has achieved her first all kill on all the major charts and definitely she has deserved it. Seriously, after 2 weeks full of EXO awards, I think it is time we “dethrone” them and give fans the chance to vote for new songs. So many other bands, particularly Sunmi, because she has my vote, deserve this week’s award as best song. Come on! Who is with me?

The song really has that dramatic feel that got fans loving the song. Really, the whole song was just amazing. True, JYP have not been doing as well with 2PM and 2AM and all of the other artist, but I think this is the song well done. Like Nobody, by the Wonder Girls was amazing as well. I love the chorus. She has this husky voice that I think only Gain has as well. It fits the song really well. I really love the tango breakdown in the song, it must be one of the best breakdowns ever. Seriously, I love this song. I think I am rambling on a bit too much. The song basically talks about how a girl should not miss out on her lover for more than 24 hours. Talk about being in love. The instrumental was pretty cool and those “Baby” voices throughout the song song were pretty cool as well.

The music video was okay. Not exactly thrilling as I expected, but it did the job. We see a girl who is turning back the time so she can be with her lover again and then things started to go a different direction. It seems to me when that she is a jumper, or whatever you call them. Her or her boyfriend. Because they jump from a rain storm to a rip off to Las vegas, to the wall, to their bed in what less than 10 seconds? And then she starts touching her boyfriend’s defined back and I guess the rest is self explanatory. 😉 . As for that tango break down part of the song, I really love the set for it. It is basically simple, nothing that complicated. Actually I like all the sets in the video, mainly because they look cool. But I am quite surprised of her and her dancer transition from wearing white to black. A bit of X-Man in there as well. At the end, she goes back in time, to which her clock has been set to the previous 24 hours, which is also pretty cool.

The dance is pretty amazing. It is ballet, I think she or someone mentioned in an interview and I love it. Especially the part she stands on her back up dancer’s thigh. Not sure if it is sexy or anything, but damn move those hips. It looked so cool. Also, the guys joined in as well. And the watch motion. Woo!

10/10. Have not be impressed by a JYP song so far, so this is pretty cool. Yay!!!

Gotta Talk To U – Seungri (Big Bang)

Source: http://seoulbeats.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/20131908_seoulbeats_seungri.png

Seungri has finally made his second comeback as a soloist in 2 years, with Gotta Talk To U. His previous songs What Can I Do?, VVIP and Strong Baby have all been hits that topped charts and it seems like this time around Seungri will not break that chain of events. It is refreshing to hear such a calm yet different song from all of the group songs recently. There seems to be a lack of soloist at the moment, with groups such as B.A.P, Girls Day, EXO, F(x), 2NE1, Teen Top, Beast and many other all making their comeback. It has been quite sometime since Big Bang has returned to the stage, GD has made his official comeback last year and Taeyang is due to make his comeback next month, but it seems that I and VIPS out there are all wanting comeback from the band itself.

Seungri sounds amazing in this song. Though it does seem to be those mashup kind of songs with a million genres in one, I really like the song. It has that What Can I Do? feel to the song and the Strong Baby essence as well. It sounds grand and seems like a lot of effort has been put into. I personally only do like this song off the mini album. Yes only this song. The others, Let’s Talk About Love, GG Be and others all sound different, in the sense that it does not carry that Big Bang or Seungri taste. Highlight would have to be the “Hustling” part of the song, it sounds pretty cool. Not the ideal lyrics in my point of view, but hey, they have their charm. I think if I go into any more detail, I would be overlapping with the live perfomance part of the video, but the instrument does carry that “live band” feel to it as well, making it sounding really good.

The music video… was kind of boring. It was not the ideal way I would have thought of how it should’ve gone. It is much better than the box sets from SM though, and it seems like the company knows a professional video and how to make one. However this video seems quite shakey, as in the camera works, which if you want to give your viewers a headache, sure go ahead. But as a music video and to appeal to fans, I would not consider such a thing. As for the glass between the camera and the “person of interest”, yeah, lose it. Those colour light and all of that stuff really prevented me from seeing what I was meant to see. As for the ending of the actual music video: were they like having distant sex or something? Because it seemed a lot like it. Oh and the hard remix of the song at the end video? Lose it. It sounds good, but in the same video, kind of conflicted with the whole video.

The live was pretty cool. There is not much of a dance that we can focus on here, but that band performance was pretty cool. Actually when you watch the video, it is mainly Seungri just jumping and bouncing around the stage. Not in that way, but in a way that it looks cool and “nice”. And those fanchants. Woah, so loud.

7.5/10. Mainly because of the music video, but seriously check the song out.
