[Weekly Chart] 1st Week of September 2021

And we begin September! It has felt like time has been going by so quickly lately, even though I am stuck at home (still in lockdown 😟). With my move officially completed (and I have a proper desk!), I will use my free time I have stuck at home to focus on the blog. I started this officially yesterday, with three reviews crossed off. And I will try my best to keep up with the constant releases and also the bouncing around to ‘old releases’. But before I can proceed forward, here are the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of September 2021.

Please note I realized I had stuffed up the rankings changes (i.e. the status column) of last week’s Weekly KPOP Charts. The songs were in the right positions, just the numbers of spots that they dropped or increased by were incorrect. If you would like to look over the new information, please check out the post for the 4th Week of August 2021.

New releases of the week

I have only managed to get around to reviewing BTOB’s Outsider, fromis_9’s Talk & Talk and A.C.E’s Changer this week. But these aren’t the only three releases that were dropped during the week. Many other songs were released alongside those three (listed below). These songs are also eligible for placement on the charts and some will be reviewed some time in the future.

  • Hate That… – Key (SHINee) ft. Taeyeon (SNSD)
  • life vest – Kim Jeong Uk
  • Movin’ – MCND
  • Lemonade – Lee Eun Sang
  • MI CASA SU CASA – Heo Young Saeng (SS501)
  • Alive – ASTRO
  • Life Is Beautiful – ONEUS
  • LOOP – I.M (MONSTA X)
  • Not Friends – Ryan Jhyun & Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Yves (LOONA)
  • Dizzy – W.A.O
  • Savior – Lee Hi ft. B.I.

Throwback Corner

I was in a Pentagon mood this past week. And Daisy was the most listened to song of the week on this Pentagon binge. Unfortunately, their recent release (Cerberus) just didn’t make it into this week’s binge session.

The Charts

Congratulations to BTOB, who recently released single, Outsider, had managed to clinch the top spot for this past week. For more of the charts, check out below.

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of August 2021

It is another Sunday and that simply means another Weekly KPOP Chart post. This particular post for the 3rd Week of August 2021 is going to be a very quick one, as I am in the processing of moving and am trying to beat the clock before the clouds move in and wash the sunshine away. So I won’t be doing my usual corners this week. Check back next week for those corners, maybe (still moving then, but hopefully more time on my hands).

Also, the KPOP Songs of the Summer Review Collaboration has wrapped up. I posted by review for F(x)’s Hot Summer earlier this week, so check that. In that post, you will also find the links to the rest of the reviews in the collaboration from other KPOP reviewers, so make sure you check out those reviews as well!

The charts

Congratulations to The Boyz, who topped the charts this 3rd Week of August 2021, with their latest track, THRILL-RIDE. For more of the charts, scroll down below:

[Weekly Chart] 1st Week of August 2021

Another week has wrapped up and it is time to look back through the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. The first week of August 2021 saw many groups and artists return already (more so than the last few weeks). And it is set to continue into this week. But before we get to the next week, there is still a bit of time for a Weekly KPOP Chart post (this post), an album review and maybe a song review (or two). So with that being said, I have a bit of work to do and focus on. So let’s get going!

New releases of the week

Already reviewed from this week is ASTRO’s After Midnight, Golden Child’s Ra Pam Pam, Jeon Somi’s DUMB DUMB, Weeekly’s Holiday Party and ONEUS’ Shut Up 받고 Crazy Hot!. I also have plans to review releases from Sunmi and Kim Woojin. Also released this week are songs from Thunder (aka Cheondung – former member of MBLAQ), the collaboration between KINDA BLUE and Hwasa (from Mamamoo), 2Z, Kang Insoo (member of MYNAME) and the SKYLE (a newly debut female group). All have been included in the charts from this week.

Throwback corner

BLOOM BLOOM POW! Ahead of their comeback tomorrow, I have been listening to a lot of The Boyz’s songs. One of them is Bloom Bloom, which was released back in 2019 and went on to earn them their first music show win. Is there any particular reason to why I have been listening to this song more than others this week? No reason. Just a revisit to their K:CONTACT stages.

Non-Korean KPOP release of the week

I finally got around to reviewing Perfect World (by TWICE) yesterday through an International Song Review post. It is once again my pick for the track of the week. In addition to TWICE’s latest release, I also released songs from ATEEZ, SHINee, Jackson Wang and Rocket Punch.

The Charts

Congratulations to ASTRO’s After Midnight, which just managed to get ahead of the all the tracks on the charts this week to clinch the win! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of July 2021

It is another Sunday and that means it is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart. It was another relatively slow week and unfortunately I did not get around to reviewing much this past week. I will try harder, now that we are in a new month. Though, I will be prioritizing the newer releases since it seems like the last few weeks were the ‘calm before the storm’ and the ‘storm’ is the month of August. While I await for the influx of new releases, here is the latest edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts.

New releases from this past week

Aside from the two releases I reviewed this week (i.e. D.O’s Rose and Dream Catcher’s BEcause), the following releases were admitted into the Weekly Chart Segment for their nine week run:

  • NAKKA – AKMU ft. IU
  • Rose – D.O (EXO)
  • KISS OR DEATH – MONSTA X
  • So Silly – SAN E ft. Yuju
  • Christmas in July – KANGTA
  • Promise U – Solar & Moonbyul (Mamamoo)
  • DIVE – Jinyoung (GOT7)
  • BEcause – Dream Catcher
  • Stupid Love Song – AKMU ft. Crush
  • Tictoc Tictoc Tictoc – AKMU ft. Beenzino

Throwback corner

For this week, I was listening to a lot of SEVENTEEN. To me, Don’t Wanna Cry will always be a classic (is it too soon to determine what is a classic?). Hence, it is my pick for throwback song of the week.

Non-Korean KPOP release of the week

Another week of being addicted to Perfect World by TWICE. I will get to the International Song Review post, which will include TWICE’s latest Japanese release, later this week.

The Charts

Congratulations to D.O, who made his solo comeback this past week with Rose. It is also the number one song this week! There is also a number of big jumps up the chart this week, so keep on scrolling to see the rest of the charts!

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of July 2021

Apologies for the delay posting this and also the lack of reviews this week. I was busy on Sunday and only managed to get the album review out (as I am still very behind on those). I had a job interview on Tuesday, so I spent Monday night preparing for it. And the interview plus work drained my energy on yesterday, so I spent the entire evening sleeping after dinner (didn’t wake up until 2 am in the morning). But with some energy, I thought I share with you the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 3rd Week of July 2021. As it is a late one, it will be a very quick one. Reviews will resume tomorrow night!

The Chart

Congratulations once again to SEVENTEEN, who has topped the charts with Ready To Love for the second week! Last week was a particular slow week (i.e. I only entered in two new songs), so you will see that a lot of ‘older’ songs jump up the charts last week. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 2nd Week of July 2021

Welcome to the latest instalment of the Weekly KPOP Charts. This one is for the 2nd Week of July 2021. It was one quiet week and this next one is the same, as well. This is the calm before the storm though, as when August rolls around, we will entering an explosion of comebacks and releases. I am worried. Don’t want to fall too far behind. So I will be spending this week writing reviews for more releases in which I should have written weeks ago. But until then, this Weekly KPOP Chart posts first and then an album review to follow, before we can get stuck into this ‘catch-up week’.

New songs of the week

I don’t think I reviewed any ‘new songs’ that were released this week. Instead, I focused on some releases from previous weeks (and I think that is the plan for this week, as I don’t see any major releases to review). But that being said, there were some new songs added to the charts this week, including: The Boyz’s Drink It, BOYHOOD’s Rain, Minzy’s Teamo, HA:TFELT’s Summertime, the latest collaboration between big names in the KPOP industry (i.e. Rain, MONSTA X, ATEEZ and Brave Girls) and Pepsi, and OnlyOneOf’s questiOn mark (which seemed to have flown in under the radar).

Throwback Corner

For this week’s throwback song, I take you back to 2012 with Sunny Hill, one of my favourite KPOP artists of all time. The song this time around is Princess and Prince Charming, which is a fun but meaningful song. Don’t let the looks of the music video and performance deceive you! Definitely Sunny Hill’s forte.

Non-Korean KPOP Release of the Week

Another week where I am addicted to TXT’s Magic. I also just posted my review for the side-track yesterday. Click here to read review and other non-Korean songs that I reviewed as well!

The Chart

For the second week of July 2021, SF9 emerged as the victorious artist with Tear Drop. Congratulations to SF9! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 1st Week of July 2021

After taking a break yesterday after that intensive weekend, I am back. Due to my focus on the rookie groups over the weekend, I was unable to post my Weekly KPOP Chart post, which I will now do before I progress with any further reviews. This Weekly KPOP Chart post is for the 1st Week of July 2021! The first week of the final half of the year. How crazy fast has the year gone. I think if we blink again, it will be December! But let’s slow down. Don’t blink before you read the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of July 2021!

New releases from the past week

In addition to the releases from SF9 (Tear Drop), Even Of Day (Right Through Me) and Taeyeon (Weekend) that I did review last week, there was also releases from BXK, Kim Soyeon of (G)I-DLE, GIRLKIND, Yebin of DIA, Oh Sae Beom, Hyolyn, Kim Woojin and Moon Jongup.

It appears that this current week is a bit light on with releases, so I will be able to review some of these releases and the releases from previous weeks that I have yet to touch.

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song was a song released just over 10 years ago. It is also still one of my favourite KPOP releases to date and it is by one of my favourite groups of all time. It is Sunny Hill’s Midnight Circus!

Non-Korean KPOP Release of the Week

I have just renamed this section because I was unhappy with what I was calling it previously (‘Non-Korean Track of the Week’). Essentially, it has to be a song released by a Korean artist/group, but in a language other than Korean.

Last week, I mentioned TXT’s Magic as a contender for last week’s featuring. But I ultimately chose a new release to feature. This week, I have gone with the mentioned song as it was played nonstop all of last week! High recommend Magic! Check it out!

The Charts

The song and artist that tops the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st Week of July 2021 is Hello Future by NCT Dream! Congratulations to NCT Dream on another successful comeback and for such a great song! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Special] Number 1 Songs from July 2020 to June 2021

As we have already wrapped up another July to June period, it is time for me to recap a full year’s worth of Weekly KPOP Charts winners! These are the song that topped the Weekly KPOP Charts segment between July 2020 and June 2021. As a quick recap, I personally decide on these charts. Songs that I prefer rank higher as I tend to gravitate towards them more. You will see the same artists return to the top of the charts throughout the year. But I also tend to surprise myself when an unexpected artist top of the charts for a particular week. So let’s have this walk down memory lane and see who topped the Weekly KPOP Charts between July 2020 and June 2021.

[Weekly Chart] 5th Week of June 2021

I pause the current transmission of album reviews (more coming your way today!) with the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of June 2021. I want to focus on album reviews for the rest of today, so I will get going with this post without anymore of the introduction. Remember that next weekend, I will be focusing on the many releases from newly debut groups from this year! Other than that, expect a few more album reviews today and the normal transmission of reviews starting tomorrow.

New songs released this week

Aside from the three releases I did review this week (i.e. 2PM’s Make It, LOONA’s PTT (Paint The Town) and NCT DREAM’s Hello Future), a record number of other songs were also released this week that became eligible for the charts this week. These releases include:

  • Free Pass – DRIPPIN
  • See You Again – Han Seung Woo (of VICTON)
  • Rain Song – EPIK HIGH
  • Moonlight – BDC
  • Summer Night – Kim Kyu Jong (of SS501)
  • Vamos – OMEGA X
  • Xtra – AleXa
  • Crazy Night – DONGKIZ
  • Karma – KINGDOM
  • Find – Moon Jongup ft. Moon Sujin
  • 13IVI – BM (of KARD)
  • Tesseract – CIX
  • Veronica – ONEWE
  • Mega Punch – N.O.M
  • Rendezvous – Kim Jeong Uk
  • Damage – JUST.B
  • Pool Party – Brave Girls ft. E-CHAN (of DKB)

I will be reviewing some of these releases in some capacity in the future. Keep your eyes open for these reviews!

Throwback Corner

2PM’s comeback this week also included performances for some of their past releases such as My House and Hands Up. But my pick for this week’s Throwback Corner is their third performance for A.D.T.O.Y which was a release from 2013.

Non-Korean Track of the Week

As I mentioned last week, I am bringing back this segment. I debated whether to put TXT’s Magic back in this week. But while I have been frequently replaying Magic, I thought I add in another non-Korean song that is newly released this week and have thoroughly enjoyed as well. I am talking about Twice’s Perfect World.

The Charts

Congratulations to SEVENTEEN, who has topped my Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of June 2021 with their latest title track, Ready To Love. For more of the charts, please scroll down below.

PS. Not sure why I cannot get rid of those two cells on the right hand side of the table. My block just keeps on crashing when I try to remove it.

  • Beautiful Night – Yesung (Super Junior)
  • Make Up Your Mind – Ailee

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of June 2021

It is another Sunday and it is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post. As you can probably tell, I have been absent from the blog all weeks, sans two reviews, due to some personal stuff. I will be back to normal transmission of reviews this week. Due to this massive week causing my hole in my review schedule, I have decided to do two things around the following two weekends (and I may extend to more weekends). Firstly, I will be focusing on only album reviews from 2 to 4 July. (PS. That’s next week). The weekend after I will be focusing on new debuts (i.e. 9 to 11 July), meaning that all the reviews you will be seeing that weekend will revolve around the newly debut groups which I have missed this year so far. The weekend after that might be a ISR (International Song Review) weekend, though it might be paired with the usual album reviews you see over the weekend. I will decide on that a little closer to the date. Hopefully, I will can smash out many reviews as there is a lot to catch up on. Until then, you and I have the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of June 2021 (this post) and a whole week’s worth of reviews to get through.

New songs added to the charts this week

So aside from A.C.E’s Higher, which was the only new release of the week that I actually sat down to review, there are a bunch of new releases that will be added to the charts that I may/may not get around to reviewing. These include:

  • Paradigm – Xydo
  • Poison – PinkFantasy
  • The Juice – Sam Kim
  • Secreto – Yezi
  • Africa – Jeongmin
  • Lazy – Kim Woosung (The Rose)
  • Obvious – MAJORS
  • Mixtape: OH – Stray Kids

Throwback Corner

This week’s featured song in the Throwback Corner (or section of the post, however you see it) is Stray Kids’ Back Door. You might recognize it from a previous Throwback Corner or too. It was just a song I gravitated to a lot this week. Like an unhealthy amount.

Non-Korean Track of the Week

I am also going to be bringing this back, just to give these types of songs some love. I had it up for a couple of weeks, but then it disappeared. I never made a decision, I just forgot it one week and never added it back in. Very simple eligibility for this part. Just be a song released by our favourite Korean artists that I have been listening to. Feel free to also post your Throwback and Non-Korean Tracks of the Week in the comments section below. I would like to see what you all have been listening to outside of the current KPOP music. For this week, the song featured in this segment is TXT’s Magic.

The Charts

And we have finally reached The Charts part of the Weekly KPOP Charts. Congratulations to Brave Girls’ Chi Mat Ba Ram, once again, for topping KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the second week in a row!

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of June 2021

It is time for the next Weekly KPOP Chart post. Once again, I am posting a bit later than usual, as I had some personal stuff to work through today. But since I have wrapped that up (I think), I now have a bit of time to work on the blog, namely this Weekly Chart Post. I don’t think I will have time to write an album review today, so I will reserve that for next week. So before I procrastinate and fail to get this Weekly KPOP Chart post out, let’s move along with it!

New releases of the Week

There were a number of great releases this includes. The ones that I have managed to review already are UP10TION’s comeback with SPIN OFF, BamBam’s solo debut with riBBon, ONEWE’s comeback with Rain To Be, Brave Girl’s highly anticipated Chi Mat Ba Ram comeback and SEVENTEEN’s comeback Ready To Love. Other comebacks that occurred this week that I have missed include the release of BTOB’s Blue Moon (Cinema Version – which was performed on Kingdom), LUCY’s I Got U, and Yugyeom’s All Your Fault (which I will be combining with I Want You Around for a double review, hopefully for later this week).

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is After School’s 2010 hit Bang, following the reunion stage of Jungah, Jooyeon, Bekah, Raina and Kahi under After School’s name on MMTG program. Definitely a song (and group) that deserves a comeback! They also performed Diva from 2009.

The Charts

Congratulations to Brave Girls with their insanely catchy Chi Mat Ba Ram! This new song from this week tops KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of June 2021! For more of the charts, continue scrolling down.

[Weekly Chart] 2nd Week of June 2021

Welcome all to the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of June 2021. As you can tell, I am posting this a lot later than usual today, as I was a bit busy earlier today. But now that I have some time before the day ends, I thought I make a start on the Weekly KPOP Chart post and try to get one more album review out today. I am lucky that tomorrow is a public holiday and (hopefully) I will be able to dedicate a bit more time to writing reviews on my day off! In the meanwhile, let’s move along with this post and get it out before the Sunday is over (I have less than two hours, wish me luck)!

Newly released songs of the week

You may have seen reviews for some of this week’s new releases already, including EXO’s long awaited comeback with Don’t Fight The Feeling. Ha Sung Woon, N.Flying, WEi, TWICE, Hoya (former Infinite member), 24K and Hyunseong (member of BF/Boyfriend) also made their comebacks this week. We also saw the debuts of EPEX, LIGHTSUM, Woo Jin Young (D1CE) and Yugyeom (GOT7), while Chungha and Colde collaborated for a new single.

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is Laboum’s re-emerging song, Journey to Atlantis. Originally released back 2016, Journey to Atlantis has recently experienced a resurgence in streams and have been rising steadily on the charts in South Korea. MSG Wannabe Top 8’s cover of the song has also assisted with this resurgence. More recently, Laboum returned to the stage with Journey to Atlantis this week on MBC Show Music Core.

The Charts

Congratulations to Ha Sung Woon’s latest song, the vibrant and upbeat Sneakers, for topping the charts this week. There was some stiff competition this week, given the entire Top 5 was made up of new releases! And they we tailing Ha Sung Woon’s latest release by a close margin! [Weekly Charts] 1st Week of June 2021

I can’t believe we are already in June! How crazy fast has 2021 been? And this is definitely something, given how 2021 is already looking like a repeat of 2020. But we are not here to be sad or disappointed! I am sure that we all found an escape in KPOP in 2020, but I am sure it has extended into the present. And talking about the present, I will be looking back at the 1st Week of June 2021 today. A number of comebacks happened this week including TXT, Joy’s solo debut, Mamamoo and MONSTA X. Also, Stray Kids was crowned the winners of Kingdom: Legendary War, and they (along with fellow contestants The Boyz, BTOB, SF9, ATEEZ and iKON) performed their newly released songs on the show this past Thursday. Click the link to see my thoughts/reviews of those stages (and for the rest of the series). But as for now, it is time to wrap up the last week!

New Releases of This Week

Apart from the new releases I had already mentioned, there are some other releases this week from GHOST9, B.I, Ravi (VIXX), VROMANCE, Zelo and NCT 127. Because of my slightly busier week, I haven’t really had the opportunity to sit down to listen these tracks. Though I am hoping to still review them in the coming weeks, after I do a bit of catch up with the other songs I have been holding onto.

Throwback Corner

For this week’s throwback, I have picked a recent-ish song. And when I say recent-ish, I mean the second half of 2020. That is The Boyz’s Whiplash, a side-track off the group’s fifth mini-album, CHASER. It is quite an addictive song, and I recommend that you check out if you want to listen to more of The Boyz!

The Charts

Congratulations to Mamamoo, who tops KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of June 2021, with their recent comeback Where Are We Now. For more of the charts, keep on scrolling down!

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of May 2021

It is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post. This time, it is for the week that just past (i.e. 23rd May to 29th May), and not a previous week – like the one I posted for yesterday. A lot of big releases occurred this week. EVERGLOW and GWSN made their respective comebacks (which also saw them debut their new songs on the Weekly KPOP Charts below). The show Kingdom will be crowning the ‘King’ next week between SF9, ATEEZ, iKON, Stray Kids, BTOB and The Boyz. And with that comes the release of six new songs by each of the artists, which they will be performing live this coming Thursday. For the first time ever, I will be including all six songs on the Weekly KPOP Charts, thus making them eligible for the 2021 KPOPREVIEWED Awards later this year. But enough talk, let’s move onto the smaller section of the segment and get to the charts down below!

New Releases of the Week

As mentioned before, there were a number of releases this past week. In addition to EVERGLOW, GWSN and the participants of Kingdom, we saw comebacks and releases from NS. YOON G, AB6IX, BF (formerly known as Boyfriend), Kim Jae Hwan, Taeho (IMFACT member), woo!ah! and Wonwoo & Mingyu (SEVENTEEN).

Throwback corner of the Week

This week’s throwback song is NS Yoon G’s If You Love Me. She released a 2021 Version (featuring MONSTA X’s Jooheon) this week and only that version will be counted toward the Weekly KPOP Charts. But I had to compare and see if there was any difference between the 2021 version and the one released back in 2012 which features Jay Park. And then, I continued to replay the 2012 version, which leads to that version of If You Love Me being on this week’s throwback corner.

The Charts

Congratulations to Baekhyun and Seomoon Tak for this week! Their collaboration, Hurt, has topped the charts for the 4th (and final) Week of the month of May 2021. As I have yet to review the song, Hurt will be prioritized for a review and it will be published later this week! For more the charts, scroll down below!

[Weekly Chart] 2nd Week of May 2021

Kicking off this Sunday is the Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 2nd Week of May 2021. For today’s post, it is going to be a super quick one as I will focusing on writing some reviews for next week which I am on break. I might pop back to write a few reviews for new releases during the break, but rest assured that this time I have already scheduled a couple of reviews of some releases from the last months and/or weeks that I have been hoping to review. I will also be working my way through some other reviews as well. On top of that, I have a bit of personal stuff to deal with, so I need all the time I can get today to make sure I complete most things on my list.

Due to my break, next week’s Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 3rd Week of May 2021 will be posted a few days later than the usual Sunday program. But without further delay, let’s move forward with last week’s charts.
