[Weekly Chart] 5th Week of June 2021

I pause the current transmission of album reviews (more coming your way today!) with the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of June 2021. I want to focus on album reviews for the rest of today, so I will get going with this post without anymore of the introduction. Remember that next weekend, I will be focusing on the many releases from newly debut groups from this year! Other than that, expect a few more album reviews today and the normal transmission of reviews starting tomorrow.

New songs released this week

Aside from the three releases I did review this week (i.e. 2PM’s Make It, LOONA’s PTT (Paint The Town) and NCT DREAM’s Hello Future), a record number of other songs were also released this week that became eligible for the charts this week. These releases include:

  • Free Pass – DRIPPIN
  • See You Again – Han Seung Woo (of VICTON)
  • Rain Song – EPIK HIGH
  • Moonlight – BDC
  • Summer Night – Kim Kyu Jong (of SS501)
  • Vamos – OMEGA X
  • Xtra – AleXa
  • Crazy Night – DONGKIZ
  • Karma – KINGDOM
  • Find – Moon Jongup ft. Moon Sujin
  • 13IVI – BM (of KARD)
  • Tesseract – CIX
  • Veronica – ONEWE
  • Mega Punch – N.O.M
  • Rendezvous – Kim Jeong Uk
  • Damage – JUST.B
  • Pool Party – Brave Girls ft. E-CHAN (of DKB)

I will be reviewing some of these releases in some capacity in the future. Keep your eyes open for these reviews!

Throwback Corner

2PM’s comeback this week also included performances for some of their past releases such as My House and Hands Up. But my pick for this week’s Throwback Corner is their third performance for A.D.T.O.Y which was a release from 2013.

Non-Korean Track of the Week

As I mentioned last week, I am bringing back this segment. I debated whether to put TXT’s Magic back in this week. But while I have been frequently replaying Magic, I thought I add in another non-Korean song that is newly released this week and have thoroughly enjoyed as well. I am talking about Twice’s Perfect World.

The Charts

Congratulations to SEVENTEEN, who has topped my Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of June 2021 with their latest title track, Ready To Love. For more of the charts, please scroll down below.

PS. Not sure why I cannot get rid of those two cells on the right hand side of the table. My block just keeps on crashing when I try to remove it.

  • Beautiful Night – Yesung (Super Junior)
  • Make Up Your Mind – Ailee

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of June 2021

It is another Sunday and it is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post. As you can probably tell, I have been absent from the blog all weeks, sans two reviews, due to some personal stuff. I will be back to normal transmission of reviews this week. Due to this massive week causing my hole in my review schedule, I have decided to do two things around the following two weekends (and I may extend to more weekends). Firstly, I will be focusing on only album reviews from 2 to 4 July. (PS. That’s next week). The weekend after I will be focusing on new debuts (i.e. 9 to 11 July), meaning that all the reviews you will be seeing that weekend will revolve around the newly debut groups which I have missed this year so far. The weekend after that might be a ISR (International Song Review) weekend, though it might be paired with the usual album reviews you see over the weekend. I will decide on that a little closer to the date. Hopefully, I will can smash out many reviews as there is a lot to catch up on. Until then, you and I have the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of June 2021 (this post) and a whole week’s worth of reviews to get through.

New songs added to the charts this week

So aside from A.C.E’s Higher, which was the only new release of the week that I actually sat down to review, there are a bunch of new releases that will be added to the charts that I may/may not get around to reviewing. These include:

  • Paradigm – Xydo
  • Poison – PinkFantasy
  • The Juice – Sam Kim
  • Secreto – Yezi
  • Africa – Jeongmin
  • Lazy – Kim Woosung (The Rose)
  • Obvious – MAJORS
  • Mixtape: OH – Stray Kids

Throwback Corner

This week’s featured song in the Throwback Corner (or section of the post, however you see it) is Stray Kids’ Back Door. You might recognize it from a previous Throwback Corner or too. It was just a song I gravitated to a lot this week. Like an unhealthy amount.

Non-Korean Track of the Week

I am also going to be bringing this back, just to give these types of songs some love. I had it up for a couple of weeks, but then it disappeared. I never made a decision, I just forgot it one week and never added it back in. Very simple eligibility for this part. Just be a song released by our favourite Korean artists that I have been listening to. Feel free to also post your Throwback and Non-Korean Tracks of the Week in the comments section below. I would like to see what you all have been listening to outside of the current KPOP music. For this week, the song featured in this segment is TXT’s Magic.

The Charts

And we have finally reached The Charts part of the Weekly KPOP Charts. Congratulations to Brave Girls’ Chi Mat Ba Ram, once again, for topping KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the second week in a row!

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of June 2021

It is time for the next Weekly KPOP Chart post. Once again, I am posting a bit later than usual, as I had some personal stuff to work through today. But since I have wrapped that up (I think), I now have a bit of time to work on the blog, namely this Weekly Chart Post. I don’t think I will have time to write an album review today, so I will reserve that for next week. So before I procrastinate and fail to get this Weekly KPOP Chart post out, let’s move along with it!

New releases of the Week

There were a number of great releases this includes. The ones that I have managed to review already are UP10TION’s comeback with SPIN OFF, BamBam’s solo debut with riBBon, ONEWE’s comeback with Rain To Be, Brave Girl’s highly anticipated Chi Mat Ba Ram comeback and SEVENTEEN’s comeback Ready To Love. Other comebacks that occurred this week that I have missed include the release of BTOB’s Blue Moon (Cinema Version – which was performed on Kingdom), LUCY’s I Got U, and Yugyeom’s All Your Fault (which I will be combining with I Want You Around for a double review, hopefully for later this week).

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is After School’s 2010 hit Bang, following the reunion stage of Jungah, Jooyeon, Bekah, Raina and Kahi under After School’s name on MMTG program. Definitely a song (and group) that deserves a comeback! They also performed Diva from 2009.

The Charts

Congratulations to Brave Girls with their insanely catchy Chi Mat Ba Ram! This new song from this week tops KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of June 2021! For more of the charts, continue scrolling down.

[Weekly Chart] 2nd Week of June 2021

Welcome all to the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of June 2021. As you can tell, I am posting this a lot later than usual today, as I was a bit busy earlier today. But now that I have some time before the day ends, I thought I make a start on the Weekly KPOP Chart post and try to get one more album review out today. I am lucky that tomorrow is a public holiday and (hopefully) I will be able to dedicate a bit more time to writing reviews on my day off! In the meanwhile, let’s move along with this post and get it out before the Sunday is over (I have less than two hours, wish me luck)!

Newly released songs of the week

You may have seen reviews for some of this week’s new releases already, including EXO’s long awaited comeback with Don’t Fight The Feeling. Ha Sung Woon, N.Flying, WEi, TWICE, Hoya (former Infinite member), 24K and Hyunseong (member of BF/Boyfriend) also made their comebacks this week. We also saw the debuts of EPEX, LIGHTSUM, Woo Jin Young (D1CE) and Yugyeom (GOT7), while Chungha and Colde collaborated for a new single.

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is Laboum’s re-emerging song, Journey to Atlantis. Originally released back 2016, Journey to Atlantis has recently experienced a resurgence in streams and have been rising steadily on the charts in South Korea. MSG Wannabe Top 8’s cover of the song has also assisted with this resurgence. More recently, Laboum returned to the stage with Journey to Atlantis this week on MBC Show Music Core.

The Charts

Congratulations to Ha Sung Woon’s latest song, the vibrant and upbeat Sneakers, for topping the charts this week. There was some stiff competition this week, given the entire Top 5 was made up of new releases! And they we tailing Ha Sung Woon’s latest release by a close margin! [Weekly Charts] 1st Week of June 2021

I can’t believe we are already in June! How crazy fast has 2021 been? And this is definitely something, given how 2021 is already looking like a repeat of 2020. But we are not here to be sad or disappointed! I am sure that we all found an escape in KPOP in 2020, but I am sure it has extended into the present. And talking about the present, I will be looking back at the 1st Week of June 2021 today. A number of comebacks happened this week including TXT, Joy’s solo debut, Mamamoo and MONSTA X. Also, Stray Kids was crowned the winners of Kingdom: Legendary War, and they (along with fellow contestants The Boyz, BTOB, SF9, ATEEZ and iKON) performed their newly released songs on the show this past Thursday. Click the link to see my thoughts/reviews of those stages (and for the rest of the series). But as for now, it is time to wrap up the last week!

New Releases of This Week

Apart from the new releases I had already mentioned, there are some other releases this week from GHOST9, B.I, Ravi (VIXX), VROMANCE, Zelo and NCT 127. Because of my slightly busier week, I haven’t really had the opportunity to sit down to listen these tracks. Though I am hoping to still review them in the coming weeks, after I do a bit of catch up with the other songs I have been holding onto.

Throwback Corner

For this week’s throwback, I have picked a recent-ish song. And when I say recent-ish, I mean the second half of 2020. That is The Boyz’s Whiplash, a side-track off the group’s fifth mini-album, CHASER. It is quite an addictive song, and I recommend that you check out if you want to listen to more of The Boyz!

The Charts

Congratulations to Mamamoo, who tops KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st Week of June 2021, with their recent comeback Where Are We Now. For more of the charts, keep on scrolling down!

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of May 2021

It is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post. This time, it is for the week that just past (i.e. 23rd May to 29th May), and not a previous week – like the one I posted for yesterday. A lot of big releases occurred this week. EVERGLOW and GWSN made their respective comebacks (which also saw them debut their new songs on the Weekly KPOP Charts below). The show Kingdom will be crowning the ‘King’ next week between SF9, ATEEZ, iKON, Stray Kids, BTOB and The Boyz. And with that comes the release of six new songs by each of the artists, which they will be performing live this coming Thursday. For the first time ever, I will be including all six songs on the Weekly KPOP Charts, thus making them eligible for the 2021 KPOPREVIEWED Awards later this year. But enough talk, let’s move onto the smaller section of the segment and get to the charts down below!

New Releases of the Week

As mentioned before, there were a number of releases this past week. In addition to EVERGLOW, GWSN and the participants of Kingdom, we saw comebacks and releases from NS. YOON G, AB6IX, BF (formerly known as Boyfriend), Kim Jae Hwan, Taeho (IMFACT member), woo!ah! and Wonwoo & Mingyu (SEVENTEEN).

Throwback corner of the Week

This week’s throwback song is NS Yoon G’s If You Love Me. She released a 2021 Version (featuring MONSTA X’s Jooheon) this week and only that version will be counted toward the Weekly KPOP Charts. But I had to compare and see if there was any difference between the 2021 version and the one released back in 2012 which features Jay Park. And then, I continued to replay the 2012 version, which leads to that version of If You Love Me being on this week’s throwback corner.

The Charts

Congratulations to Baekhyun and Seomoon Tak for this week! Their collaboration, Hurt, has topped the charts for the 4th (and final) Week of the month of May 2021. As I have yet to review the song, Hurt will be prioritized for a review and it will be published later this week! For more the charts, scroll down below!

Kicking off this Sunday is the Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 2nd Week of May 2021. For today’s post, it is going to be a super quick one as I will focusing on writing some reviews for next week which I am on break. I might pop back to write a few reviews for new releases during the break, but rest assured that this time I have already scheduled a couple of reviews of some releases from the last months and/or weeks that I have been hoping to review. I will also be working my way through some other reviews as well. [Weekly Chart] 4th Week of April 2021

Another Sunday, another opportunity to look back on the week that just past. We have reached the end of April this week, and the mid-year mark is fast approaching. It is definitely scary how fast the year is going by! I hope you all have been having a great week and look forward to the new releases in the KPOP world in the incoming month! Big names have already been confirmed such as HIGHLIGHT, ONEUS, Ailee, NCT Dream, Oh My Girl, BTS and TXT (just to name a few)! Definitely one to look forward to. But in the meanwhile, let’s look back at the final week of April 2021.

New songs this past week

In addition to the releases from ENHYPEN, AB6IX, ONF and ITZY that I have already reviewed, other artists that released music this week (and have been added to the charts for a nine week run) include Hyunseong (former Boyfriend member), BIBI, HOT ISSUE, (G)I-DLE and Kim Kyu Jong (member of the currently inactive SS501).

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback corner is actually a very recent release. Soyou and IZ*ONE’s joined forces with one another for the Starship and Pepsi collaboration project, ZERO:ATTITUDE (which also features pH-1) back in February of this year. The song has resurfaced on YouTube for me, and I have been listening to it every single day this week. You should, as well!

The Charts

Congratulations to ENHYPEN, who has topped this week’s Weekly KPOP Charts with their first comeback since debut! Their new song is titled Drunk-Dazed! Make sure you check it out and (per usual), for more of the charts, keep on scrolling down!

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of April 2021

It is time to look back at the week that just passed through the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. It was a light week in the KPOP industry, with a few major comebacks happening at the start of the week, such as DAY6’s return with You make Me and NU’EST’s INSIDE OUT. As I have album reviews to write up, I want to move along, so let’s jump right into the Weekly KPOP Charts.

New releases of the past week

In addition to DAY6 and NU’EST, we also saw comebacks and releases from GreatGuys, APINK, IZ and B1A4. I also wrote a review for P1Harmony’s Scared, which also dropped this past week.

Throwback corner

With DAY6 returning, it is appropriate time for a DAY6 marathon. And one song that took me a while to stop replaying to move onto the next DAY6 song is their 2019 release, Time of our Life. Definitely a worthy addition to the throwback corner.

The charts

Congratulations to Kang Daniel and Antidote, who rose to the top of the charts jumping one position from last week’s second place. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 2nd Week of April 2021

It is time for another edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts. This time it is for the 2nd Week of April 2021. Another pretty big week in KPOP with the return of some big name artists such as SHINee, Kang Daniel, Yoon Ji Sung and Wheein (just to name a few). Anyhow, hope everyone is doing well and preparing yourselves for the week ahead. I know I am, given the list of confirmed comebacks for the upcoming week. But I am still grinding reviews out by pushing forward with the few album reviews and song reviews I have been drafting up, and hopefully get them out today/this week. But before that, here are the Weekly KPOP Charts.

New releases of the past week

In addition to the artists that I name-dropped in the above introduction, other releases from this past week include DAVICHI, The8, DONGKIZ and MAJORS.

Throwback corner

Coming off the Kingdom: Legendary War episode from the 8th April, I had a bit of a jam session to BTOB’s infamous ballads. One of them being their 2016 I’ll Be Your Man, with that high note/rapping combination still being one of the best climaxes I have heard in KPOP to date. It was nice to listen to all their hits again, and I will probably have more of them in the future (especially as we revisit a lot of their, and the other competitors, past title tracks).

The charts

We have a new number one artist this week. For the first time since debuting as a solo artist, Kim Jae Hwan has managed to steal my attention from all of this competitors with I Wouldn’t Look For You to earn his first number 1 song as part of this segment. Congratulations Kim Jae Hwan! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 1st Week of April 2021

We take a short break from focusing on the recent comebacks of some solo artists to look at the past week. And I do that via the Weekly KPOP Charts segment. As I want to get back to reviewing, let’s start getting moving along with today’s post as we look back at the 1st Week of April 2021.

Releases from last week

In addition to the comebacks we saw that I have already reviewed (i.e. ASTRO’s ONE, Wendy’s Like Water and Kim Jae Hwan’s I Wouldn’t Look For You), we also saw comebacks from Lee Jin Hyuk, D-CRUNCH, LUNARSOLAR, BAE173, OnlyOneOf and STAYC. SuperM and Chanyeol also released special singles this week.

Throwback corner

Unfortunately, I am not Rollin’ around anymore. Instead, I have been busy listening to other songs this past week. One of these songs is SEVENTEEN’s Hit, which they recently performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. So that is this week’s throwback song (even though it is a couple of years old).

The Charts

Congratulations to WJSN for another chart topping hit. Their latest song, Unnatural, is the top song for this week! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 5th Week of March 2021

Today’s Weekly KPOP Charts post is actually for last week (28 March to 3 April), which I took most off due to the Easter long weekend. And because that long weekend went into this week, I am posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 5th Week of March 2021 a little later than usual. As this is a late post, I am going to make it a quick one by going straight to the charts. So I can get cracking for some more reviews tomorrow. Apart from that, I hope you all had a great long weekend if you had the opportunity to, or another awesome weekend if you don’t celebrate the holiday.

New releases of the week

As you may have noticed, I have not reviewed all major releases from last week. In addition to already reviewed releases (Kim Sung Kyu’s HUSH, Kang Seung Yoon’s IYAH, Baekhyun’s Bambi and WJSN’s Unnatural), the following artists also made their comeback last week: Kim Sejeong’s Warning, DKB’s All In, Park Bom’s Do Re Mi Fa La So, T1419’s EXIT, 3YE’s Stalker, Hoshi’s Spider, Hwang Chi Yeul’s Two Letters and many more.

The Charts

Congratulations to IU for another massive hit with LILAC. And like all her hits, they just can’t stay away from the top of the charts. And my personal charts is no exception! For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 4th Week of March 2021

[Update] Due to an urgent change in plans, there will be no reviews posted from tomorrow night aside from the scheduled posts. And the number of scheduled posts will be reduced considerably. Reviews will start again next week.

Another Sunday has come by and it is time to have a quick look back at the past week. Compared to the rest of March, this past week has been relatively quiet. Aside from IU making her solo comeback with LILAC, Sorn from CLC made her solo debut with the single Run. But March isn’t over just year, with a few more days left on the calendar. And based on a list of confirmed comebacks, it seems like everything is happening this coming week. But as usual, before we can proceed forward with the new week, let’s have a look back at the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of March 2021.

Easter long weekend

Next weekend will be the Easter long weekend here in Australia. And as like all long weekends, I will be taking some additional time off the blog to spend with my family. As a result, there will be no review for songs released on 31 March to 4 April 2021. Any of those releases (and any releases I don’t around to reviewing from 29 March to 30 March) will be reviewed the week after. Next week’s edition of the Weekly KPOP Charts will also be delayed to later in the week. However, there will be scheduled reviews and album reviews released over the long weekend this time around.

Throwback corner

Nope, still in a Rollin’ mood. Still not tired of this song. Brave Girls did end their promotions for Rollin’ earlier this week, so that is one less avenue to continually listen to the song. So maybe, a new song will be featured in this segment next time it Rollin’ around.

The chart

Congratulations to Pentagon once again for topping KPOPREVIEWED’s Weekly KPOP Charts for the second week in a row with Do Or Not. For more of the charts, scroll down below.

[Weekly Chart] 3rd Week of March 2021

It is time for another Weekly KPOP Chart post. This time, it is for the 3rd Week of March for the year 2021. As I always say in throughout the year, time is definitely flying. Apologies for not reviewing many of the releases for this past week. I am hoping to catch up as much as I can, but I became held back by some personal stuff. That stuff is now out of the way, so I am hoping I will be able to make some ground with the releases that I missed over the past week and the song listed on the ‘Coming Soon’ page. As for the album reviews, I am currently going through them and hoping to see some of them go live over Easter. Fingers crossed that all goes well! But you are hear for the Weekly KPOP Charts, so without furtherado, here we go.

NEW RELEASES OF THE WEEK

In addition to the releases by Pentagon, PURPLE KISS, WOODZ, Super Junior and DRIPPIN that I have reviewed, we saw a lot more comebacks and debuts this week. These includes Ciipher, MY.st, Jessi, Weeekly, MIRAE, B.I and Kim Jeong Uk (former 24K member). If I do not get around to reviewing these releases this coming week, they will join the ‘Coming Soon’ list.

THROWBACK CORNER

I am still Rollin’ my way through. With it popping up everywhere on my recommended lists, it is hard to not join in on the hype around this song. And I am not surprised that it is back up there, given that I gave the song a perfect score of 10/10 when it was first released in 2017! Also, congratulations to Brave Girls for scoring first place on all (with the exception of one and that is simply because the show’s strict criteria) the weekly music shows this past week. It is a rare feat nowadays to pull that off.

THE CHARTS

Congratulations to Pentagon for making it to the top of the charts. They dethroned ONF after three weeks sitting in the top spot, with their latest single. DO or NOT! For more of the charts, scroll down below.
