[Weekly KPOP Chart] 5th Week of September 2022

Welcome to the belated Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 5th Week of September 2022 (that was the week of 25 September – 1 October 2022). Apologies for the delay for this post. I was busy travelling and was unable to post the Weekly KPOP Chart posts for both the 4th and 5th Weeks of September.

This will be a streamlined Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 5th Week of September 2022 (as you can tell by the title of the post). Tomorrow, I will be returning to the usual schedule of Sundays for the Weekly KPOP Charts posts, beginning with the 1st Week of October 2022.

The Charts

Congratulations to TEMPEST for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 5th Week of September 2022 with Can’t Stop Shining. This is the first time that TEMPEST has ever reached the top of my Weekly KPOP Charts, so congratulations to them for this feat! For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of September 2022

Welcome to the belated Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of September 2022 (that was the week of 18 – 24 September 2022). Apologies for the delay for this post. I was busy travelling and was unable to post the Weekly KPOP Chart posts for both the 4th and 5th Weeks of September.

This will be a streamlined Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of September 2022 (as you can tell by the title of the post). The Charts

Congratulations to THE BOYZ for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 4th Week of September 2022 with WHISPER. WHISPER previously topped the Weekly KPOP Charts a month ago during the 4th Week of August 2022. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of September 2022

[Update: 8/07/2023] Apologies if this post looks different than usual. I realized that I actually had written another weekly KPOP chart post over the top of the one for the 3rd Week of September 2022. I don’t remember my specific comments I wrote in the original post, but I have restored the videos/songs featured in the different segment and took a picture of the charts that I have on record.

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 3rd Week of September 2022, returning to the usual Sunday transmission. Per usual, today’s Weekly KPOP Chart post is going to be a quick one. So keep on reading the recap of the last week and I hope to see you soon with another review!

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song was ASTRO’s ONE.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

As for this week’s non-Korean release of the week, we have TXT and iann dior’s collaborative single, Valley of Lies. It ranked in the 11th position this past week.

The Charts

Congratulations to IVE for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of September 2022 with AFTER Like. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of September 2022

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 2nd Week of September 2022. I am posting this a bit later usual on a Sunday as I had some adulting things to do. And there are more things to do (why does no one tell you about the amount of boring adulting stuff you have to do when you are an adult :|). So there won’t be anymore reviews today. But there will be some song and album coming out tomorrow and onwards.

Recap & New releases of the Week

The number of reviews this week reduced unfortunately as I spent a lot of time resting as going to the office for work is very tiring business. But I did cover some new releases, including ONEUS’ Same Scent and KIM JAE HWAN’s BACK THEN. I also posted a review for APINK CHOBOM’s Copycat and album reviews for SEVENTEEN, TXT, iKON, ATEEZ and ASTRO.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Sparkling Night – PENTAGON
  • Like Psycho – We;Na
  • All Day Bernard Park
  • SURRENDER Lee Changsub (BTOB)
  • LET IT SHINE – CNBLUE
  • Dance Whole Day – ONEW (SHINee)
  • Blue – Jackson Wang (GOT7)

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is SF9’s Now or Never, which I think has previously been featured on this segment already. But it is one of their best songs and I don’t think I need to explain any further. It emerged as part of a SF9 binge that I had this week.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release of the week is CRAVITY’s first ever English language single, Boogie Woogie. It ranked in the 9th position this week. At this stage, Boogie Woogie will not be getting a full review under the International Song Reviews segment due to the lack of an official music video. It is yet to be seen whether CRAVITY’s upcoming release will be getting an album review. But if it does, Boogie Woogie would most likely be reviewed there.

The Charts

Congratulations to ONEUS for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of September 2022 with their latest release – Same Scent. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st Week of September 2022

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 1st Week of September 2022. Not much to update you with this week again – just the usual grind of reviews of all kinds coming your way. Hoping to push out some album reviews tonight and some more song reviews during the week. For now, enjoy this Weekly KPOP chart post!

Recap & New releases of the Week

This past week, I reviewed the following releases – Rocket Punch’s FLASH, TEMPEST’s Can’t Stop Shining, KEY’s Gasoline, and Lee Jin Hyuk’s Crack; a song review for SVT LEADER’s CHEERS; and album reviews for GHOST9, ONEW, ONEUS, WOODZ and MONSTA X‘s comebacks earlier this year.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Once Again – Bang Minah (Girl’s Day)
  • Tomorrow – Kim Chaewon
  • Password 486 – BIGONE
  • Better – MAMAMOO+ ft. BIG Naughty
  • Darling on the Beach – Even of Day
  • Call Call – Yiren (EVERGLOW)
  • RING ma Bell (what a wonderful world) – Billlie

Throwback Corner

During the final days of August, I have been repeating Red Velvet’s Red Flavor, which is my pick for this week’s throwback song. I am surprised it took me all of Summer (in the Northern Hemisphere) to actually pick up the song. But I managed to sneak it in this year at the very end of the season. It goes to show that Red Flavor is a must have on a summer time playlist.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release of the week is Jackson Wang’s Cruel. It ranked in the 27th position this week. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to TWICE for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st Week of September 2022 with another chart topping hit, Talk that Talk. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of August 2022

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of August 2022 (i.e. the week that just passed). Not much to update you with this week- just the usual grind of reviews of all kinds coming your way. I got some personal errands to run, but I will be (hopefully) pushing out album reviews later tonight and some more song reviews during the week. For now, enjoy this Weekly KPOP chart post!

Recap & New releases of the Week

I think I can say that this week was a busy one, despite me being sick throughout the week. 8 different posts came out this week. These include reviews for new releases – CIX’s 458, IVE’s After LIKE, LEO’s Losing Game, Ha Sung Woon’s FOCUS and TWICE’s Talk that Talk; a song review for Super Junior’s Mango; and album reviews for GOT7 and Dream Catcher‘s comebacks earlier this year.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Stay – Issac Hong
  • 100% – Yoon Seobin
  • Became a star – BOYHOOD
  • Rocking Chair – JAY B (GOT7)
  • Falling Free – Minho (SHINee)
  • Romeo and Juliet – Minho (SHINee)
  • Ring – TXT
  • FUEGO (Burn It Up) – BLANK2Y
  • CHANCE – AB6IX
  • Cheese burger – Kisu
  • 24/7 – DKB
  • be mine – Junji (OnlyOneOf)
  • Nap Fairy – Yeri (Red Velvet) & Sam Kim
  • running away – Mark Tuan (GOT7)

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song might be the result of a recent comeback. CIX’s Wave (from last year) is this week’s throwback song, as I was craving the song whilst reviewing 458 earlier this week. A few listens whilst reviewing their comeback and I found myself gravitating towards the song a lot this week! “Like Thunder Thunder Thunder“.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Even though it was in its final week for being eligible for the Weekly KPOP Charts, Rocket Punch’s fiore, slide back up the charts to be this week’s non-Korean release of the week. The JPOP song ranked in the 23rd position this week. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to THE BOYZ for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of August 2022 with their new single, WHISPER. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of August 2022

This is on time and posted on the right week! Woo! Pat on my back indeed. Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Charts segment for the 3rd Week of August 2022 (i.e., the week that just passed). I am not going to keep the intro long this week. I have a review and an album review (or two) coming your way tonight, so I am going to start work on those right after I post this. And of course, more reviews coming your way when it all starts off tomorrow. In the meanwhile, here is the recap and Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd Week of August 2022.

Recap & New releases of the Week

Out of the new releases this week, I wrote reviews for THE BOYZ’s WHISPER, ONF’s Your Song and BLACKPINK’s Pink Venom. I also posted reviews for KARD’s Ring The Alarm and JO YURI’s Love Shhh!. On the album review front, there were album reviews for NCT DREAM, LE SSERAFIM, BAE173, Kwon Eun Bi and CRAVITY.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • BYE – RAVI (VIXX) ft. Wheein (MAMAMOO)
  • Undercover – CRAXY
  • REQUIEM – CRAXY
  • When I Look At You – Park Boram
  • TPIR – Kang Daniel ft. MIYAVI
  • UTSUROI – TVXQ
  • DaSH – BAE173
  • Play – LUCY
  • Engine – LUMINOUS
  • IRREPLACEABLE – F.HERO & Youngjae (GOT7) ft. THE TOYS
  • Bye Bye Bye – SKYLE
  • Forever Only – Jaehyun (NCT)
  • Castle Key (Roll) – Fatou (BLACKSWAN)
  • Don’t Hesitate – WONHO

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song was released 10 years ago! SPICA’s Lonely was this week’s throwback song. I have been replaying SPICA’s songs a lot lately, and so it is about time I feature them on this segment again!

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release is XG’s MASCARA, which was released at the end of June this year. The English based song ranked in the 24th position this week. For those who don’t know XG is a Japanese pop group currently based in South Korea, which debuted last year with TIPPY TOES. MASCARA was promoted in South Korea on the usual music shows, and so I consider it eligible for the Weekly KPOP Charts. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to SNSD for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of August 2022 with FOREVER 1. This is the second week in the row in which both SNSD and FOREVER 1 have topped my Weekly KPOP Charts. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of August 2022

Almost a week delay this time around. Key word being “almost”! It is time for the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of August 2022, the week spanning between 7 August to 13 August 2022. This particular post was delayed due the delay with the previous week’s Weekly KPOP Chart post. The Weekly KPOP Chart post that is supposed to be published today might come out in a couple of days as I settle in and continue to balance this blog, unpacking, work and a whole bunch of other boring stuff. The first week of August 2022 saw TWICE’s Celebrate become the non-Korean release of the week. It ranked in the 7th position. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to ATEEZ for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st Week of August 2022 with Guerrilla. This is the second week in a row for ATEEZ and Guerrilla. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts from the 2nd Week of August 2022 (i.e. from 7 August 2022):

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of July 2022

Another Weekly KPOP Chart is here, and once again, it is on time! I am a bit busy with album reviews to write up, and some other personal errands. So I will be keeping the introduction super short today. Here is my Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of July 2022.

Recap & New releases of the Week

A three review week, with PURPLE KISS’ Nerdy, ATBO’s Monochrome (Color) and ATEEZ’s Guerrilla being covered. However, I have posted a number of album reviews for Red Velvet, SUHO and AB6IX and also wrote reviews for side tracks from SUHO and Stray Kids’ most recent mini-albums.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Somebody! – Loco & Hwasa (Mamamoo)
  • AVIATOR – YOUNITE
  • be free – KB (OnlyOneOf)
  • Just A Dancer – Sunye
  • Walking On The Moon – TAN
  • Freak – ZICO
  • HOOKAH – DalSoobin
  • Drummin’ – TO1
  • Evening – YUJU ft. BIG Naughty
  • Ready For Love – BLACKPINK
  • Cruel – Jackson Wang (GOT7)
  • Hype Boy – NewJeans
  • Hurt – NewJeans
  • We Are – NewJeans

Throwback Corner

Not related to the recent announcement they are making a comeback, Golden Child’s Pump It Up was this week’s throwback song. It just popped onto my recommendations and I revisited a couple of times during this week.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release is Charlie Puth and Jungkook’s collaboration, Left & Right, which was released late last month. The song ranked in the 9th position this week. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to ATEEZ for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 4th Week of July 2022 with Guerrilla. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of July 2022

Another Weekly KPOP Chart is here, and on time! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to write up that International Song Review segment this weekend, so that has been pushed to next weekend. But there is some time for an album review after this. So to avoid any further delays, here is the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of July 2022.

Recap & New releases of the Week

  • Que Sera Sera – ILY:1
  • Rain Day – NCT U (Taeil, Kun, Yangyang)
  • BEAUTIFUL MONSTER – STAYC

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Still holding onto the title of the Non-Korean release of the week is Stray Kids’ CIRCUS. However, this time the song ranks in the 44th position for the week.

The Charts

Congratulations to SEVENTEEN for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of July 2022 with _WORLD. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of July 2022

Apologies for the delay for last week’s Weekly KPOP Chart. Just had a busy weekend in which I didn’t get to do much for the blog aside from two song reviews. This weekend will dedicated to review writing as I don’t think I have anything on and I need to stockpile a few reviews for one of the coming weekends. Hope you all are having a great week! Here is the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 2nd Week of July 2022.

New releases of the Week

Another relatively big week for me, with reviews written for CHUNG HA, SF9, ITZY and the two lead tracks from j-hope’s solo debut (Arson was officially released last week, with MORE released two weeks ago). But here are the other releases from last week that have not had the review treatment just yet:

  • Tropical Romance – BUSTERS
  • Copycat – CHOBOM (APINK Chorong & Bomi)
  • Mango – Super Junior
  • Delicious – Woo Jinyoung (D1CE)
  • Wind – Me:us
  • Celebrate – TWICE
  • BEAUTIFUL – Changjo (TEEN TOP)

Throwback Corner

There was no song on repeat last week. But the song that I do fondly remember jamming to last week was CNBLUE’s You’re So Fine.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Rising back towards the top of the charts this week (and thus earning the title of this week’s top non-Korean release) is Stray Kids’ CIRCUS. It places in the 11th position. A review for that is coming sometime in the future through the International Song Review segment. Don’t know exactly when CIRCUS will be up for review, but I can confirm that there is an International Song Review post coming this weekend.

The Charts

Congratulations to SF9 for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of July 2022 with SCREAM. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st Week of July 2022

Another blink, another Weekly KPOP Chart post. The weeks just go back so quickly now. Anyhow, apologies for the lack of album reviews last week and this week. There will be one coming up very shortly, and hopefully I can get more posted next week. Also more reviews will be published this week for new and older releases. In the meanwhile, here is the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 1st Week of the second half of 2022 (i.e. 1st Week of July 2022).

New releases of the Week

In addition to the reviews I wrote massive* number of five new releases this week, which includes ENHYPEN’s Future Present (Pass The MIC), WJSN’s Last Sequence, WINNER’s I LOVE U, VIVIZ’s LOVEADE and aespa’s Girls, here are the other new releases of the week:

  • RUN – H1-KEY
  • WANNA KNOW – IRRIS

  • LUCID DREAM – Jiyoung Kang
  • If With U – MONSTA X
  • Wonderland (Korean Version)AleXa
  • CHEERS – SVT LEADERS
  • Don’t Tell – KANG DANIEL ft. Jessi

*I use the word ‘massive’ as 5 reviews is quite a step from the usual one or two I have written in a week over the past few weeks.

Throwback Corner

For this past week, fromis_9’s FEEL GOOD (SECRET CODE) on repeat. Blame the likes of their Stay This Way comeback, which had me digging up fromis_9’s past tracks!

Non-Korean Release of the Week

SORN’s SAVE ME is the past week’s non-Korean song release of the week, ranking in the 19th position. It is one of the four singles that SORN has released since leaving CLC and Cube Entertainment that I have yet to review (some of which were quite good). Check out SORN’s SAVE ME below (a review will be coming soon for the song).

The Charts

Congratulations to WINNER for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st Week of July 2022 with I LOVE U, their first comeback in two years!. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

As we find ourselves on another Sunday, say bye bye to the 5th Week of June 2022 (the week that just past) – the final week of the 1st half of 2022. Sorry for the delay of this week’s Weekly KPOP Chart. Usually, I post these much earlier in the day. But I was running a lot of errands today, so I only have time to sit down and post the Weekly KPOP Charts for last week. What was supposed to be on the agenda today was two album reviews, but I will bump those to next week. So expect those next week. As for now, here is the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 5th Week of June 2022.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of June 2022

Guess who remembered the Weekly KPOP Chart this time! And it is out on the day it is supposed to come out!

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of June 2022. Crazy to think that we went the second half of 2022 in the next week. Of course, I will be making sure more reviews (both songs and album) come your way this week. I know I have promised more lately, and I have been very skimpy with them (as I find myself little time to focus on the blog for a few reasons – tiredness being one of them). But I will try my best to knock out a few more than the usual one or two this week (as I should have more time on my hands this week). Until then, here are my Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of June 2022.

New releases of the Week

In addition to the reviews I wrote this past week for Kep1er’s Up! and LOONA’s Flip That, here are the other new releases of the week:

  • WATCH OUT – SUPERKIND
  • Move Like This – Kang Daniel & An Yujin (IVE) ft. Kim Yuna
  • HIT YA! – Lapillus
  • Life Goes On – Onew (SHNee)
  • Fresh – Colde
  • LOUDER – TAN
  • SUGAR – Youngjae (GOT7)
  • Ring The Alarm – KARD
  • Color Me – JUNNY ft. CHUNG HA
  • Reference – Lee Mu Jin
  • Scent – YUKIKA
  • Save Me – Sorn
  • Life’s Too Short – aespa
  • Left & Right – Charlie Puth ft. Jungkook (BTS)
  • POP – Nayeon (TWICE)
  • How We Live – Kang Daniel ft. sokodomo

Throwback Corner

Sorry for not featuring a Throwback Song in last week’s Weekly KPOP Chart post. For this past week, I have selected SNSD’s Holiday (one of the singles from their last comeback) as the throwback song, as I gear myself up for their potential and long awaited return for their 15th anniversary later this year.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Stray Kids’ CIRCUS is the past week’s non-Korean song release of the week, ranking in the 23rd position. This is CIRCUS‘ second week in a row to be featured in this segment. Check out Stray Kids’ CIRCUS below (a review will be coming soon for the song).

The Charts
