As mentioned previously, I was unable to post any Weekly KPOP Charts for the final two weeks of December (and 2021 in general) as I was on break visiting family and friends. The break is now over and I am officially back reviewing (as you can tell from the slow release of song reviews over the last few days). However, I have taken some time away from the reviews to do the maths and post these charts (so that there is a bit of a separation between 2021 and 2022 Weekly KPOP Charts).

Anyhow, as this is a late post, I will get right into it! I present to you the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of December 2021 (dates were 19 December – 25 December) .

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Charts and the recap of the past week, the 3rd Week of December 2021. This also doubles up as the final Weekly KPOP Chart post that I will be posting this year. There will be a 4th and 5th Week of December 2021 Weekly KPOP Charts, but they will be posted in 2022 once I am back from Christmas break.

There will also be changes to the reviews for the remainder of the year. From tomorrow, I will be posting a bunch of reviews that have been pre-written and scheduled ahead of time for the remainder of the year and for the first few days of the new year. I will not be writing any review of any new releases between the start of this weekend to 2nd Jan 2022. Any new releases from between now and then (for example Kim Jae Hwan, BamBam, Purple Kiss etc.) will reviewed once I am back from break.

So with that, I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and New Year, and can’t wait to see what what KPOP has in store for us in 2022!

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback corner takes you back to 2015, when Taeyeon made her official debut with the chart topping and effortlessly stunning I. I was just revisiting past MAMA performances, as it is coming up, and came across one of the opening performance for the 2015 MAMA in which she performed I. Listened to it one night and have binged it the next couple of days on repeat!

Non-Korean Song of the Week

While the following song has a Korean version, my pick for Non-Korean Song of the Week is the Japanese version of TXT’s 0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You), which features Ikuta Lilas. There is something in this version that sets it apart from the Korean version, and potentially makes it better than the original! I also enjoyed the apocalyptic concept of this music video – very fitting for the song.

November, already? Woah! Time has really flown by this year. In just two months time, we will be celebrating 2022. Just ponder on that for a moment. But before we can think of 2022, we have to get through the mentioned two months. Just the confirmed releases for the month of November, and the many award shows/ceremonies/year-end shows that occur in December says there is a lot more in the KPOP industry to look forward to!

Another week has passed and it is time to look back on it through the Weekly KPOP Chart. It has been a slightly busy week for me personally, though I have managed to push out a post each day (self pat on my back). Looking into the week ahead, it looks like it is going to be a busy week with seven comebacks from artists that I usually review. And per usual, I have a long list of other releases that I haven’t covered yet. Lots to do!

New song releases of the week

I have already reviewed ENHYPEN’s Tamed-Dashed and LIGHTSUM’s VIVACE, but we also saw a solo release by Donghae (from Super Junior) featuring Jeno (from NCT); a collaboration between Raiden, Taeil (from NCT) and LILBOI; and the comebacks of BLACKSWAN and TRI.BE (all of which I have yet to review).

Throwback Corner

Not too much of a throwback (and I actually have put this song down in this corner many weeks back), but NCT Dream’s Hello Future is this week’s ‘throwback’ song. I kept on listening to the song’s five member version, which the group (without Mark and Haechan) has been performing at festivals recently. The five member version is super good and deserves some attention, since the remaining five members (Jaemin, Renjun, Jeno, Chenle & Jisung) do an awesome job of covering for the missing members!

Another week has flown by. This week was pretty much Golden Child week for me, as I spent a fair amount of my time writing reviews for their unit and solo releases ahead of their album review (posted yesterday in case you have missed it), when I could be writing reviews for other missed releases. I am actually going to repeat the same process for Stray Kids this week, reviewing their side tracks that have a music video before their album review next weekend. So, Stray Kids week, this week! I will try to get some other reviews out as well, as it looks like I am a bit freer (and its perfect weather to stay indoors this week – i.e. rainy), but we will see how I go. Throwback Corner

So part of this week involved a Nine Muses binge, one of the most underrated groups of KPOP ever! Nine Muses gave us hit after hit, with 2013 being their biggest year (3 comebacks) and the closest to which they got to the top of the charts. I leave you today with my all time favourite track from the group, Wild.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Technically, as it contains Korean lyrics, I would make the argument that this is a Korean release and so should not be part of this corner. But as it is more marketed towards the Western pop music industry (and was formally released by Coldplay), I have decided to include My Universe, Coldplay & BTS’ collaboration, as this week’s ‘Non-Korean Release of the Week’. But as there are Korean lyrics and a music video, a full review for My Universe will be posted in the coming weeks – not sure when is.

Another week has passed. And per my usual schedule, I look back on this week through my Weekly KPOP Chart post. Apart from a break and doing some adulting stuff, not much really happened this week. Hopefully, now that I am a bit refreshed, I can start looking at writing some other reviews for the releases that I have flagged that I will review. Also, two album reviews coming your way later tonight and that stuff I said I was working on behind the scene will be posted throughout this week. Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is B1A4’s What’s Happening?, which popped up randomly as a YouTube recommendation this week. And it began a B1A4 binge, which was quite enjoyable. Can’t wait to see who is next up on these binge sessions.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

I haven’t been listening to non-Korean songs lately. But I have picked it back up to listen to MONSTA X’s One Day, which is also my pick of non-Korean release of the week.

Another busy week has passed and it is time for me to reflect on it via a Weekly KPOP Chart post! I don’t have much to update you with, other than that I have decided that next weekend will be a intensive album review weekend, so I can finally make some progress on that load of albums I have flagged that I will be reviewing. Otherwise, still in lockdown and still eating my weight in snacks (though I have balanced that out with a fruit salad binge – fresh though). Hopefully, I can have something more interesting to update you with next week!

Throwback corner

I spent a lot of my week listening to Infinite, B1A4, Sonamoo and Oh My Girl for some unknown reason. They just popped into my autoplay and I told myself ‘why not?’. So I had a lot of choice this week to decide who to feature in the Throwback Corner of this post.

Ultimately, I have decided to feature Sonamoo and their single Friday Night. They are the lesser known group out of the four that I listed, so let’s give them a shoutout!
