[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of December 2022

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 2nd Week of December 2022. There is a bit more than usual to cover today, so I am going to get right to it. Keep on reading to see the winner of this past week on the Weekly KPOP Charts!

Plan for the rest of 2022

2022 has been a very full on and over-whelming year for me, especially the last few weeks. And I am looking forward to having a bit of a break.

Unfortunately, this means there will be no reviews for any new releases for the rest of the year. Any major release will be reviewed upon my return in early 2023. However, this doesn’t mean I will stop posting altogether. I have scheduled a bunch of song and album reviews whilst I am away, so you will still see new reviews for songs and albums that have been released for some time that I haven’t reviewed just yet.

This also means that this will be the final Weekly KPOP Charts that will be posted in 2022. We still have the 3rd and 4th weeks of December left in the 2022, and I will be posting the Weekly KPOP Charts for those weeks when I am back in 2023.

Reminder for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards

A reminder that you can still vote in the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards as the voting page will not close until 11:59PM AEDT 6 January 2023! New leaders have emerged in a range of different categories just in the last week alone – all because of fan voting. At the time of voting, there is just under 2.5k votes already casted. So get voting to make sure your vote counts!

Recap & New releases of the Week

I made a bit of an effort to review some new releases this week. And when I say an effort, I mean two reviews. One of them will be posted tomorrow, while the other (NCT DREAM’s Candy) was posted on Friday. MINHO’s Chase, THE BOYZ’s All About You, P1Harmony’s Doom Du Doom and Xdinary Heroes’ Hair Cut were also reviewed this week. On the album review front, I posted the album reviews for Kim Jae Hwan and CHUNG HA‘s album releases from earlier on in the year.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • hate my home – polar
  • Let me out – Lee Jinsol
  • companion – SEOWOONYUL
  • Gift For You – WEi
  • Beautiful Christmas – Red Velvet & aespa
  • Celebrate – Super Junior
  • too late – Chunji (Teen Top)
  • Trick or Treat – PIXY
  • HUGS – BRANDNEW MUSIC
  • SNOW SNOW SNOW – BRANDNEW MUSIC

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is ASTRO’s Call Out. I stumbled across ASTRO’s performances of Call Out at their concerts on YouTube and they are so much fun. The song is super catchy, as well! The continuous encore of the final section of the song during the concert performances was hilarious!

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release of the week is FNC Artists’ Sing Along. It ranks in the 2nd position this past week. It is a super fun and catchy song that was released in Japan two weeks ago as part of the FNC KINGDOM concert (FNC Entertainment’s company concert) that will be occurring in Japan some time in the remainder of this year. The lineup of Sing Along includes representatives of FT ISLAND, CN BLUE, SF9, N.Flying, Cherry Bullet, P1Harmony and (I believe) JUNG HAE IN.

The Charts

Congratulations to Xdinary Heroes for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of December 2022 with Hair Cut. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st Week of December 2022

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 1st Week of December 2022. As usual, today’s Weekly KPOP Chart post is going to be a quick one as I need to pre-write reviews for the holidays! Keep your eyes peeled, as I will be announcing my plans for the rest of the year next week. So here is the recap of the last week and I hope to see you soon through another review – probably going to be an album review later tonight!

Also, just as a reminder, the voting page for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards is currently open. Since opening the voting page at the end of November, the tables have turned in many categories and those were in the lead a week ago may no longer in their leading position. So the only way you can make sure your favourite artist, songs and performances have a chance at being crowned the best of the best is to make your vote count! Click here to vote today!

Throwback Corner

It’s December, so cue all the Christmas music. This week’s throwback song is becoming a tradition for me, as I seek out the song each year since its release – Lovelyz’s Twinkle.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

As for this week’s non-Korean release of the week, it is JUNGKOOK’s Dreamers. It ranked in the 27th position this past week.

The Charts

Congratulations to KARA for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the second week in a row with WHEN I MOVE. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 5th Week of November 2022

Welcome to a new Weekly KPOP Chart post, this time for the 5th Week of November 2022. Today’s post is going to be a quick one, as I want to put one album review before I go to bed tonight (and bed time is approach fast). So I am going to get right to it! See you in the next post!

Recap & New Releases of the Week

This week saw reviews for the new releases such as Red Velvet’s Birthday, KARA’s WHEN I MOVE, ITZY’s Cheshire and RM’s Wild Flower. In addition to those reviews, I also returned to album reviews last weekend by covering THE BOYZ’s BE AWARE and Kim Sung Kyu’s SAVIOR mini-albums.

Other releases from the week include:

  • A to Z – NIEL (TEEN TOP)
  • In Your Space – NIEL (TEEN TOP)
  • beat – Mill (OnlyOneOf)
  • Paradigm – ATEEZ
  • Back Down – P1Harmony
  • Dream land – XEED
  • Mirage – XEED
  • Bus – Yein
  • Sing Along – FNC Artists
  • Let’s Say Goodbye to My Favourite Person – ASTRO

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is actually a 2022 release, so not really a “throwback” per se. But since I consider the song is not longer part of the Weekly KPOP Chart segment anymore, I thought I feature it here. The song in question is SNSD’s Forever 1. But the particular version of the song I am featuring here is the Matisse & Sadko Remix version, which is a stunning and perfect remix of the original song.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s Non-Korean Release is TEN’s Birthday. Birthday ranks in the 6th position this week. It was released towards the end of the end of October as part of the SM Station’s NCT LAB project. As this is an all English song, it will be featured in a future International Song Review segment.

The Charts

Congratulations to KARA for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 5th Week of November 2022 with WHEN I MOVE – their first comeback single in 6 years that celebrates their fifteenth year anniversary. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of November 2022

Welcome back to another Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 4th Week of November 2022.

It has been a big week on the blog with a big continued focus on the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards. Firstly, I posted the KPOPREVIEWED Choice for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards (i.e. who I personally thought were the best in each category of nominees of the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards).

And just yesterday, I opened the official voting page for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards, where you (the readers of the blog), and only you, can decide who the official winners of the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards. This is by far the most important stage of any KPOPREVIEWED Award period. There is no rush to get your vote in, as deciding which artists, songs and performances of the year are the ‘best of the best’ are very important decisions to make. The survey will remain open until the very end of 6 January 2023, so feel free to ponder for now. BUT make sure you get your vote in before 6 January 2023. I will make sure to remind you constantly on the blog, Twitter and Facebook!

But as for now, here are the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 4th Week of November 2022.

Recap & New Releases of the Week

Another new week, more reviews. However, I didn’t cover the amount of songs I would like (I have a very daunting list of albums and songs I want to review staring at me from the side whilst writing up this post). They will still come, though. Some day in the future. In the meanwhile, I had posted reviews for AB6IX’s Sugarcoat, KANG DANIEL’s Nirvana, TEMPEST’s Dragon and NMIXX’s Funky Glitter Christmas.

Here are the other new releases from the past week (some of which I will return and review some day in the future):

  • Dreamers – Jungkook (BTS)
  • Groove Back – JYP ft. Gaeko (Dynamic Duo)
  • Tomorrow Shinhwa WDJ
  • The Days We Were Us – Solji (EXID)
  • Under The Skin – &TEAM
  • Forgive Me – BoA
  • CELEBRATION – KANTO
  • Funky Glitter Christmas – NMIXX
  • Old School – NTX
  • Freeze Tag – TO1
  • Stay With Me – IRRIS
  • We’re Done – Kim Dohee
  • Taste The Feeling – TEMPEST

Throwback Corner

Another week, another binge. This time, it was for Stray Kids. And it was primarily when I was preparing for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards survey set-up. I was happy to be listening and reliving some of their past promoted tracks, given that they are one of my go to artists as the moment. If I had to pick one, it would have to be their 2019 release with MIROH. An old favourite that I personally feel is quite forgotten.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Coinciding with his return this week onto the Korean music scene, this week’s Non-Korean Release is KANG DANIEL’s Joy Ride, which ranked in the 7th position. Joy Ride also had the biggest jump of the week (72 spots!).

The Charts

Congratulations to VERIVERY for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 4th Week of November 2022 with Tap Tap. This is also the first time ever that VERIVERY had topped my Weekly KPOP Charts! For that, another congratulations is in order. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of November 2022

Welcome back to another Weekly KPOP Charts post for the 3rd Week of November 2022. This time, it is on schedule! Only one thing to update you on. But I just realized (and would to also point out) that 2022 is about to wrap up in a couple of week’s time. How crazy is that!

Anyhow, the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards have been announced. Yesterday, I posted the nominations for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards. And from next Saturday, you will be able to vote for who you think should be the winners! But before we can get to that, I have to post my choice of who I think the winners are (i.e. the KPOPREVIEWED Choice) for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards and get through more reviews. Plus, go through the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 3rd Week of November 2022 (this post). So let’s get going before I end up delaying everything!

Recap & New Releases of the Week

As mentioned last week, I would return to the blog and begin to review songs once again about a period of absence. While I have not kept many promises about reviewing, I managed to keep this one. For this week, I covered new releases like CHEN’s Last Scene, VERIVERY’s Tap Tap, YooA’s Selfish. In addition to those three new releases, I posted reviews for HIGHLIGHT’s Alone, WEi’s Spray and WONHO’s Don’t Regret.

Throwback Corner

I was on a binge over the last fewa days whilst trying to finalise and prepare the nomination pictures for the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards. Artists like 4MINUTE, GOT7, SISTAR, SECRET etc. (amongst 2022 KPOP songs) were on the playlist. If I had to pick on track, I will go with 4MINUTE’s Whatcha Doin Today?, which was released back in 2014.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s Non-Korean Release is ENHYPEN’s Make The Change, ranking in the 40th position. The Japanese single previously featured in this segment during the 3rd Week of October 2022. .

The Charts

Congratulations to TREASURE for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of November 2022 with HELLO. I have yet to review HELLO, but will do so later this week. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st & 2nd Weeks of November 2022

Apologies for my absence over the last two weeks. I will be posting two Weekly KPOP Charts posts (one for the 4th Week of October and another for the combined 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022). I will be back to posting reviews starting from tomorrow.

Welcome back to the present with the Weekly KPOP Charts posts for the 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022 – a period spanning from the 30th of October to the 12th of November 2022. Due to my absence over the last two weeks for personal reasons, I have combined the 1st and 2nd Weeks of November together to form one week to limit the impact on the Weekly KPOP Charts segment (and hence the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards – again an announcement will be made in coming days about this). This is the first time this has happened in KPOPREVIEWED history! We will back to usual one-week Weekly KPOP Charts next week and reviews from Monday (i.e. tomorrow). Until then, here are the Weekly KPOP Charts for the 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022.

Recap & New Releases of the Week

As mentioned above, I was absent during the 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022. As a result, I was unable to write or post any reviews over these two weeks.

However, there were some releases during my absence including:

  • Bad Cupid – YOUNITE
  • Remembered – Park Bom
  • LIMBO! – NATURE
  • Alone – HIGHLIGHT
  • Unknown – Jeongmin (BF)
  • Young Boy – NINE.i
  • Lights – Kim Jonghyeon
  • Big Revolution – J-JUN ft. SUGIZO
  • DREAM – SEVENTEEN
  • TAPE – Shinwoo (BLANC7)
  • Poison Rose – CRAXY
  • Draw (MY TIME) – ICHILLIN’
  • KOONG – Yong Junhyung
  • Back In Vogue – AlexA
  • Hair Cut – Xdinary Heroes
  • Journey For Myself – Jeong Eunji (APINK)
  • Only You – Gaho
  • Dawn – Kevin Oh
  • Dearest – Ryu Sujeong
  • VAGABOND – TRENDZ

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback corner belongs to LOONA’s Why Not?, one of the two singles released by LOONA in 2020. I had a inkling for a fun LOONA song this week and Why Not? was the first one to pop into my mind. Many listens later and here is where Why Not? lies this weeks.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s Non-Korean Release is OnlyOneOf’s Zurui Onna, ranking in the 19th position for these two weeks. A review for Zurui Onna is coming soon, so keep monitoring the blog for that review in an upcoming International Song Reviews post.

The Charts

Congratulations to Rie (from OnlyOneOf) for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022 with because. This is Rie’s and OnlyOneOf’s first release to top the Weekly KPOP Chart segment on my blog. Congratulations once again! For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of October 2022

Apologies for my absence over the last two weeks. I will be posting two Weekly KPOP Charts posts (one for the 4th Week of October and another for the combined 1st and 2nd Weeks of November 2022). I will be back to posting reviews starting from tomorrow.

As per the title at the top of the page, this post is the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 4th Week of October 2022 – the week spanning 23rd to 29th October 2022. I cannot remember why I did not post this particular Weekly KPOP Chart at the time. I suspect it was most likely because time slipped away from me, which is always the case – I have been working on the 2022 KPOPREVIEWED Awards at the time before I had to take some time away from the blog. An announcement for this will come at a later date. In the meantime, here is the first of two Weekly KPOP Charts post for today.

Recap & New Releases of the Week

During the week of the 23rd to the 29th October 2022, I posted a variety of reviews focusing on solo debuts and comebacks that I had not covered in the months beforehand. These include: KIHYUN’s Youth, BAEKHO’s No Rules, LEE CHAE YEON’s HUSH RUSH, PARK JI HOON’s NITRO, JIN’s The Astronaut, JO YURI’s Loveable, KINO’s POSE, YERIN’s ARIAa and the solo releases by the OnlyOneOf members released thus far (YooJung’s begin, KB’s be free, JunJi’s be mine and Rie’s because). I also posted the review for (G)I-DLE’s Nxde and the album review for aespa’s Girls.

Other releases from the week include:

  • Fallin’ – Doyoung (NCT) & Kim Mina
  • I Still Miss You – Hwang Chi Yeol
  • It’ll Be Alright – Roy Kim
  • Attitude – ATBO
  • Tick Tick Boom – CLASS:y
  • ZEALOUS – CLASS:y
  • Hymn to Love – EPEX

Hope you enjoy it!

This week’s Non-Korean Release is LOONA’s LUMINOUS, which is the second week in it is featured in this corner of the post. For this week, LUMINOUS ranks in the 7th position. [Weekly KPOP Chart] 3rd Week of September 2022

[Update: 8/07/2023] Apologies if this post looks different than usual. I realized that I actually had written another weekly KPOP chart post over the top of the one for the 3rd Week of September 2022. I don’t remember my specific comments I wrote in the original post, but I have restored the videos/songs featured in the different segment and took a picture of the charts that I have on record.

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 3rd Week of September 2022, returning to the usual Sunday transmission. Per usual, today’s Weekly KPOP Chart post is going to be a quick one. So keep on reading the recap of the last week and I hope to see you soon with another review!

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song was ASTRO’s ONE.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

As for this week’s non-Korean release of the week, we have TXT and iann dior’s collaborative single, Valley of Lies. It ranked in the 11th position this past week.

The Charts

Congratulations to IVE for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of September 2022 with AFTER Like. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 2nd Week of September 2022

Welcome to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 2nd Week of September 2022. I am posting this a bit later usual on a Sunday as I had some adulting things to do. And there are more things to do (why does no one tell you about the amount of boring adulting stuff you have to do when you are an adult :|). So there won’t be anymore reviews today. But there will be some song and album coming out tomorrow and onwards.

Recap & New releases of the Week

The number of reviews this week reduced unfortunately as I spent a lot of time resting as going to the office for work is very tiring business. But I did cover some new releases, including ONEUS’ Same Scent and KIM JAE HWAN’s BACK THEN. I also posted a review for APINK CHOBOM’s Copycat and album reviews for SEVENTEEN, TXT, iKON, ATEEZ and ASTRO.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Sparkling Night – PENTAGON
  • Like Psycho – We;Na
  • All Day Bernard Park
  • SURRENDER Lee Changsub (BTOB)
  • LET IT SHINE – CNBLUE
  • Dance Whole Day – ONEW (SHINee)
  • Blue – Jackson Wang (GOT7)

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song is SF9’s Now or Never, which I think has previously been featured on this segment already. But it is one of their best songs and I don’t think I need to explain any further. It emerged as part of a SF9 binge that I had this week.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release of the week is CRAVITY’s first ever English language single, Boogie Woogie. It ranked in the 9th position this week. At this stage, Boogie Woogie will not be getting a full review under the International Song Reviews segment due to the lack of an official music video. It is yet to be seen whether CRAVITY’s upcoming release will be getting an album review. But if it does, Boogie Woogie would most likely be reviewed there.

The Charts

Congratulations to ONEUS for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 2nd Week of September 2022 with their latest release – Same Scent. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 1st Week of September 2022

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 1st Week of September 2022. Not much to update you with this week again – just the usual grind of reviews of all kinds coming your way. Hoping to push out some album reviews tonight and some more song reviews during the week. For now, enjoy this Weekly KPOP chart post!

Recap & New releases of the Week

This past week, I reviewed the following releases – Rocket Punch’s FLASH, TEMPEST’s Can’t Stop Shining, KEY’s Gasoline, and Lee Jin Hyuk’s Crack; a song review for SVT LEADER’s CHEERS; and album reviews for GHOST9, ONEW, ONEUS, WOODZ and MONSTA X‘s comebacks earlier this year.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Once Again – Bang Minah (Girl’s Day)
  • Tomorrow – Kim Chaewon
  • Password 486 – BIGONE
  • Better – MAMAMOO+ ft. BIG Naughty
  • Darling on the Beach – Even of Day
  • Call Call – Yiren (EVERGLOW)
  • RING ma Bell (what a wonderful world) – Billlie

Throwback Corner

During the final days of August, I have been repeating Red Velvet’s Red Flavor, which is my pick for this week’s throwback song. I am surprised it took me all of Summer (in the Northern Hemisphere) to actually pick up the song. But I managed to sneak it in this year at the very end of the season. It goes to show that Red Flavor is a must have on a summer time playlist.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

This week’s non-Korean release of the week is Jackson Wang’s Cruel. It ranked in the 27th position this week. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to TWICE for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 1st Week of September 2022 with another chart topping hit, Talk that Talk. For more of the charts, keep on reading.

Songs leaving the charts

The following songs have wrapped up their nine week run in the charts system, and will no longer be on the charts starting next week:

[Weekly KPOP Chart] 4th Week of August 2022

Welcome back to the Weekly KPOP Chart post for the 4th Week of August 2022 (i.e. the week that just passed). Not much to update you with this week- just the usual grind of reviews of all kinds coming your way. I got some personal errands to run, but I will be (hopefully) pushing out album reviews later tonight and some more song reviews during the week. For now, enjoy this Weekly KPOP chart post!

Recap & New releases of the Week

I think I can say that this week was a busy one, despite me being sick throughout the week. 8 different posts came out this week. These include reviews for new releases – CIX’s 458, IVE’s After LIKE, LEO’s Losing Game, Ha Sung Woon’s FOCUS and TWICE’s Talk that Talk; a song review for Super Junior’s Mango; and album reviews for GOT7 and Dream Catcher‘s comebacks earlier this year.

Other releases from the week includes:

  • Stay – Issac Hong
  • 100% – Yoon Seobin
  • Became a star – BOYHOOD
  • Rocking Chair – JAY B (GOT7)
  • Falling Free – Minho (SHINee)
  • Romeo and Juliet – Minho (SHINee)
  • Ring – TXT
  • FUEGO (Burn It Up) – BLANK2Y
  • CHANCE – AB6IX
  • Cheese burger – Kisu
  • 24/7 – DKB
  • be mine – Junji (OnlyOneOf)
  • Nap Fairy – Yeri (Red Velvet) & Sam Kim
  • running away – Mark Tuan (GOT7)

Throwback Corner

This week’s throwback song might be the result of a recent comeback. CIX’s Wave (from last year) is this week’s throwback song, as I was craving the song whilst reviewing 458 earlier this week. A few listens whilst reviewing their comeback and I found myself gravitating towards the song a lot this week! “Like Thunder Thunder Thunder“.

Non-Korean Release of the Week

Even though it was in its final week for being eligible for the Weekly KPOP Charts, Rocket Punch’s fiore, slide back up the charts to be this week’s non-Korean release of the week. The JPOP song ranked in the 23rd position this week. Per most of the international collaborations and singles by Korean artists, I have yet to review this one. But I will get around to it eventually!

The Charts

Congratulations to THE BOYZ for topping the Weekly KPOP Chart for the 3rd Week of August 2022 with their new single, WHISPER. For more of the charts, keep on reading.
